One study was using Finacea or Azelic (?) Acid, depending on what number you drew. We didn't qualify since we did not have the bumps or pimples.
The other was for a day long study where they gave you Afrin and applied a cream containing a vascular constrictor formula (like afrin or visine) to see if it counter-acted the redness and how long that lasted. I did qualify for that, but they had to draw blood every hour for the 12-14 hours I would be there and my veins weren't good enough for 12-14 draws. UGH! I am not a needle phobic but I would have been. Then you had to come back in 7 days and do it again. Wanted to try the cream, just could not do the blood work part.
They have me on the list and have a few more Rosacea studies coming up that they will call me back for. Hopefully, no vampires need apply. |

Hi Spencer,
Can you tell me if you used any products on your skin straight after each of your ipl sessions?
Thanks in advance

I always follow up with a lotion or cream afterward but nothing with retinol or irritating ingredients.
I love something like Emu oil when I have it. |

Hi AnnieR,
Thank you for the reply.
I have an ipl treatment scheduled for Thursday and I started using the epionce products 2 weeks ago, they are causing a little redness on my cheeks but I keep being told that this is normal. I dont know whether to use the epionce products once I have had the ipl. |

Hi, I'm new here. I have had rosacea for about 5 years. Also, my eyelashes are gone. I researched rosacea and found there were several different types. One type is caused by a skin mite.
Well, there was no way I had a skin mite, so I lived in denial for years. Meantime, I could not use anything on my skin, not even moisturizer. Went to a parade of derms. Finally I read a post on cure zone about ivermectin, which is an oral med for worms, mites, etc mostly used on pets. I found a horse ivermectin on amazon that was in a large hypodermic that was to be injected on the back of the horses' tongue. Bought it, used it, and my skin improved dramatically. I mixed it with some moisturizer because the mites love oil and come out at night to eat oil and mate. (On your skin) Lovely, huh?
I found a progressive derm that prescribed the oral ivermectin for me so I could also try and grow my lashes. I finally feel that life is worth living! She says the rosacea will be gone forever, but I have read that it is possibly caused by a disruption in your digestion, and it makes a favorable climate for mites on your skin. So now I have to fix that.
You take 4 tablets of ivermectin once weekly, for several weeks, and you're done! Hope this has helped some of you. |

This is a link to Dr. Bailey's blog. She talks about treatments including medication to kill mites.
http://www.drbaileyskincare.com/blog/rosacea-new-treatment-ideas-and-new-scientific-developments/
There is several articles on rosacea. She also writes about seborrhea dermatis that also looks like rosacea. Both skin conditions often have red blotchy skin and sensitivity.
She recommends some products that are available through or site or elsewhere. |

Thanks for that link, Autumn1995. That was good information. It makes me think that in addition to the products she mentioned, the Dermawand or Lift Wand devices would be good to to use since they create an antibacterial effect and oxygenate the tissues. Especially if it kills a bacteria that harbors the protein.
I'm hoping to beat this. I'm on my first week of internal ivermectin therapy. |
