I use Purple Prarie sunscreen (20% zinc)and add a dash of liquid tint to it. I've tried Marie Veronique zinc sunscreen and like this better at a fraction of the cost. About the best price on a high % zinc sunscreen around. Never forget, unless your using the correct amount of sunscreen, which most do not, your not getting near the protection you think you are:
The dose used in FDA sunscreen testing is 2.2 mg/cm² of exposed skin.[49] Provided one assumes an "average" adult build of height 5 ft 4 in (163 cm) and weight 150 lb (68 kg) with a 32 in (82 cm) waist, that adult wearing a bathing suit covering the groin area should apply 29 g (approximately 1 oz) evenly to the uncovered body area. Considering only the face, this translates to about 1/4 to 1/3 of a teaspoon for the average adult face. Larger individuals should scale these quantities accordingly. |
What liquid tint do you add to your sunscreen? I am intrigued by the tinted sunscreens but I am afraid of getting the wrong tint for my skin tone.
I was also thinking of tweaking my own sunscreen with tinted minerals. |

I still use Bioderma but am thinking of switching to Pratima. Colorescience also looks interesting. |

Which La Roche Posay? I own two different ones and had samples of the others.

La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Fluid. It feels very nice when I put it on and doesn't feel sticky when I wear make-up. |

I've been using Burnout the past couple years and it works well, but does anyone know how it compares to Marie Veronique and Pratima in terms of sun protection and "cosmetic elegance"?
Thanks, BFG |

I've used City Block Sheer SPF 25 from Clinique for three weeks now and i think it does a pretty good job. Expensive, but it has some nice ingredients in it like hyaluronic acid, vit E bisabolol, etc |

Oh, and another one i really like from clinique is Clinique redness solution protective base spf15! I have a very sensitive skin and a lot of sunscreens irritate my skin (as they often contain alcohol, propylene glycol etc. as solvents). However, never had any problems with clinique. It's a shame they're so expensive:( |

I've used all three. I'd put MVO and Pratima on par with each other. Biggest difference is that you can get MVO tinted. I have fair, normal, non-sensitive skin and both sink in nicely with no messy white mess. Both keep me from getting sun burn.
For me, Burnout was a distant third. Felt like it didn't sink in, kinda sat on the skin. Plus left whiteness for me. But it is cheaper than the other two. |

I'm loving Invisible Zinc's Environmental Skin Protector spf 30. 18% micronized zinc. I use CE ferulic and prevage underneath for extra protection.
I'm looking at adding Loreal's UV Perfect spf 50 underneath to boost UVA protection. It has both the mexoryl's without avobenzone or octocrylene.

Ive used NCN liquid minerals and Maybelline dream liquid mousse....both work great...what I've found to work best is buy the darkest tint, that way you just need a tiny tiny amount and you don't dilute the spf much at all...I dont tint the whole bottle at once. I only take out enough for maybe a week or so and mix in a small conatiner that I can carry around easily with me to re-apply also. |

I recently used some Burnout Ocean tested sunscreen I had laying around after a long time not using it. It goes on very clear on my skin.I found myself missing the tint coverage of the Purple Prairie sunscreen. For those wanting to try this already cheap priced sunscreen, it's even cheaper till 3-7-13...use code (Clean20) for 20% off |

EWG is a good source for info about sunscreens and the safety of the ingredients. Looks like the 2013 update is not out yet, but the 2012 reviews are valuable. Please note that they also include chemical sunscreens in their rating, so if you are searching for a zinc sunscreen you'll need to look at ingredients.

I review this every year to see if there is something new to try! |

I never tried BurnOut sunscreen, and it appears from ewg.org that it is getting very good rating. Does anyone know if can cause breakouts? |

I got a sample tube of this. Very nice BUT I got a dermatis rash that took a couple of days to clear up. I am not sure what caused the reaction; but I am guessing the botanicals.
I was surprised to have a reaction from a Clinique SS product. |

Thank you for ideas. I am quite pale so I don't need a lot. |

I guess this would only be good for me on the beach. For work, I don't like the heavy feeling of any type of cream. |

Still looking for a daily sunscreen that I like.... still using my Elta clear spf 46, but I don't like it for everyday. I have to use way to many oil blotters in a day when I'm wearing it. I bought Avalon organics spf 30 bb matifying for oily skin at whole foods yesterday. I can take it back if I don't like the feel, so I'm going to try it this week. I also bought the Devita to try. I also bought (lol) a coQ10 spf 15 that I really liked it's light feel on my skin. I wish it was higher spf. do you think spf 15 is ok for everyday? I tried on John Masters organics mineral spf 30 but I didn't buy it because the others I tried felt lighter. MiChelle's zinclear spf 28 sunblock tube is redesigned, but it looks to be the same product. I tried it two years ago for a whole summer, but it felt too oily and heavy on my skin. I also tried Clinique City Block about 4 years ago for a whole summer. I hated it. It felt very heavy and oily on. Moreover, as I now know, I no longer buy any Estee Lauder products (including everything from Clinique to La Mer) because the company tests on animals. This is a deal breaker for me. |

oh yeah, for what it's worth, I also tried the mineral fusion spf 30 brush on sun defense powder yesterday. It is supposed to be "transparent" on skin. It was way to warm-yellow for my skin tone. Looked like caked makeup and was horrific. It was nice and light and matifying, but the color was really bad on me. Jane Iredale's matches me much better. I would say the Bare Essentials is even a closer match to my skin than this one. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever liked a mineral fusion product that I've tried. eh. I really want to try sunforgettables. |

Due to the active ingredients in the suncream, it always feels oily and like a white mask.
Sometimes I pat some pressed powder over the suncream after 15-20 minutes. I don't know if it will effect the suncream, but it looks not so oily now.
Another way I always using is to add the WHITE suncream to your favourite foundation. Mix them, then apply. You can choose the dark shade cause your sun cream is very white. |

I recently discovered Andalou Naturals All in One Beauty Balm (I think it's on sale for under $15 at vitacost atm) & I really like it. It does have a tint & is slightly too dark for me (I am fair)so I mix it with a touch of Pratima's (which is way more expensive)& it goes on nicely & appears natural. It is very protective at 20% Zinc Oxide. I have dry sensitive skin & was breaking out with the Burnout. (which I thought was due to the Capric/Caprylic Triglycerides - but apparently not since this product also has them)
