This is a wonderful thread; thanks to ALL who are contributing to it.
Does anyone know of natural products/oils/etc that really work on brown spots? I have tried all the usual pharmaceutical aids, but I find they either do not work or have a bad effect on my skin.
There must be something out there in DIY land that would help! |

| thanks for the info carekate. But im just curious to know why essential oil should not be applied directly and needs to be diluted? IS it cause of clogged pores or someother reason? |

I think EO alone is every concentrated and potent can over stimulate your skin or senses, that's why is always recommend to dilute with carrier oils. |

Correct: with the exception of lavender and Tea Tree oils -- which CAN be applied with dilution to the skin -- all the others will causes extreme irritation and burning sensation. Just always always ALWAYS dilute your EOs in a carrier oil or liquid. They are wonderful ingredients in skincare, but you have to handle them with respect and consideration! |

I was wondering if there is only one carrier oil? Is there any liquids that might not be safe to mix? How can you tell if it's a carrier oil vs. an EO? and do carrier oils have their own beneficial properties or just neutrally serve as a "base" to dilute your concoction? Sorry for the loads of questions but I jst want to make sure before I go stock up on the ingredients :]. I hope my castor oil isn't rancid though.
Thanks-
Chelsea. |

| Thanks for all the info! I have been looking at investing in some carrier and essential oils, but I wasn't sure which ones to get! Oh and thanks for the post for pets - I was wondering why my cat did not want to go into a room where I had used strong scents - mostly lavender but enough to burn my nostrils at first |

Hey carekate,
I read a few of your forums and was wondering if the clary sage would help ease-up the ingrown hairs I get. I have mild to moderate acne and was wondering if I could solve two problems at once. I will be using this on my face since the hairs I would like to remove or thin out are the ones causing the problems. I figure the more natural products I use the less the side effects. Could be wrong. Just wanted to note that I am a male and don't want absolutely no hair on my face since that would look totally weird. Just something to lessen the full thick hair I get. Thanks for the help.

International shipping costs are determined at the time of shipping. Charges are determined by the actual cost of shipping by the US Postal Service for International Priority and Express services. No additional handling fees are added. When you place your order, you are simply authorizing a charge up to the dollar figure indicated. Your actual shipping charge is likely to be significantly less.

Lots of information and essential oils+ they do ship everywhere.

I wanted to make my own facial oil like the Decleor Ylang Ylang though I didn't want to follow the recipe that's found in this forum. My cheeks don't get as oily as it normally does however my forehead still gets rather oily. Does anybody know how many drops I can put into the carrier (grapeseed) oil? I'm currently putting in 12 drops in total of all the essential oils used, wondering if it should be 12 drops each instead. This is what I used:
Cedarwood
Ylang Ylang
Rosemary
Rose Geranium
Thanks in advance! |

| Oh no I guess I put too much then, might be why my forehead is still oily. Assuming it has caused the skin to dry out instead and so produce more oil on the forehead. Thank you, DM. |

No problem!
I don't know if that is causing the breakouts as you aren't that far off with two drops extra! If you have been using the same Carrier oil
for a while it may be, if not then the carrier oil might be the culprit! Which one you use should be suitable for your skin type.

Since I live in the boonies, I had to go to local GNC and Maxx Nutritions to find essential oils, after visiting those two stores... I came out with:
cinnamon cassia
clary sage
clove
eucalyptus
jasmine
lavender
orange
peppermint
rosemary
and 2 ylang ylang oils.
I friend thought I was nuts. LoL.
I added ylang ylang, lemon, drop of peppermint, 3 drops of orange, 2 drops of jasmine to CareKate's Super Toner ACV.. and it smells HEAVEN!!!!!!! |

I am a new Esti, and just wanted to say thank you so much for the wonderful gift of knowledge. I have had a traumatic brain injury for years now, and I find it difficult to remember everything that I have learned in cosmetology school, so this has been very helpful. As I dive into my own personal routine, I find that I would rather create my own oil for cleansing (this is simply grape seed oil, olive oil, and safflower oil.) while doing so I was wondering what else I could add to my simple skincare routine. You are all so thoughtful and kind to share your knowledge with us, and I greatly appreciate your guidance here. I hope that these pages continue to grow and evolve as skincare grows more popular amongst all age/race/gender’s
Thank you again, and I am most excited to read through all of this forum before diving into the products that I use at work. |
