Let's just clarify something at this point - your innuendo about Sis is totally unwarranted. Sistersweets has posted on this forum how honored she was to be asked to come to the ACAM show. This does not make her a shill. Nor does it make her a shill that she went to the Neurotris event. She didn't have to share ANY of that information. I hope she doesn't mind me sharing, but she has a vested interest in *perhaps* using her medical license at some point in the future to do something within the skincare/anti-aging arena.
~ Aprile

Thanks Aprile for standing in my defense. Best to ignore comments by green-eyed monsters. Razz

I think the question is WHY was Sistersweets singled out from all the other EDS forum members and asked to go to trade shows. When one accepts an invitation a tit for tat is automatically assumed. What do they expect her to do for them now that they have done something for her? And what is she doing for them? Does she receive special discounts for her support on the forum? Is she in some other way a stakeholder in or compensated by either of the businesses? That has not been divulged. It smacks of impropriety.

In addition, it would scare me immensely if she used her dental license to somehow transform herself into a skin care guru. And led people to believe that she has a medical license instead of one in dentistry.

That's a lot of assumptions and speculation Jom; Most of what you question I have 'divulged' as you say...answered more than once and voluntarily.
I do not recieve any compensation from Pico or Ageless. I do not sell either product (although I wouldn't mind doing trade shows for the Pico to be honest - it's such a great product and would be easy for me). I paid the full price for my Pico toner and I'd do it again. Yes I went to the emmy event and it was awesome. Everything I write about it from my experience is true.
I used Ageless Secret Gold for THREE years before going to A4M (had zero company freebies except a small 1 oz of ASG as a trial way back when) and I do not work for ASG and did not work the show. All I did was get interviewed. I wasn't even in the booth more than maybe 15 minutes. My interview was completely voluntary on my part. Noone expected it or made me do it. it was spur of the moment.

No need to be afraid of me using my my dental license to work in the skincare field Jom. Nothing scary or dangerous about it. I am highly knowledgable in both head and neck anatomy (which tends to include skin Laughing . (I daresay I've had a site more training than the woman who does your facial). I have had and continue to take numerous medical courses such as anatomy and physiology, microbiology, studies of disease etc (I could write a book). I teach pathology and pharmacology as well as others - including Nutrition. I take 20 plus credits of CE courses regularly to maintain a strict licensure policy. Last year I took close to 50.

In my area the best state-of-the-art skin care salon was started by someone in the dental field. It's not rocket science to make the leap from dental medicine into skin care.

Skincare, etc is my fondest hobby (like many of us). It would be a cinch for me to transition to skin care.

Do you own any of Paula Begoun's books? Check out her creds.

I am not going to debate this with you any more. I rarely come to EDS any more because of all the negative energy here. I have found another skin care home.

That's good. Please note Havana's message above.

Hi Carlingus,

Very interesting you should ask and YES it certainly does fall into the holistic health category. I have no experience with the Biomat, but I have done a lot of reading about this on Dr. Sircus site. He mentions it for overall health, colds, flu and also for part of the alternative cancer treatment protcol. He had a link somewhere on his site that this type of therapy is even acknoweldged by the American Cancer Institute or some similar group. I guess its considered FAR Infrared therapy. Very interesting! But they are super expensive. Like $2600 for the Biomat single - the Queen and the King are out of this world expensive, But I saw on their site they are coing out with something new called Quantum Energy pads which are much more afffordable... I would be interested in hearing about them because even the mini Biomat which is only 33x17 is $650.00!!!

What were you thinking about using them for? I'm ALL in on these... just wish they were more affordable. Best, Aprile

Hi Aprile

I started reading about them at some point a year ago or so when I was looking into non traditional anti anxiety treatments. I have TMJ and neck pain that is very obviously connected to stress and gentle restorative FIR heat sounded fantastic, but the price has always stopped me. The quality and craftsmanship of this 'glorified heating pad' as I've seen it be called before elsewhere is top notch but I'm skeptical enough to wonder if you really need all the bells and whistles? There are cheaper FIR products like this out there. Is amethyst really necessary? I love the idea of stuff like this but I'm usually too skeptical to make a commitment when lots of cash is on the line, ya know?

I consider lowering stress/cortisol to be one of the most beautifying things a person can do for themselves, having read up on negative effects that prolonged stress and stress hormones have on our skin, organs, hair, so stuff like this fascinates me.

I'd love to hear if any of our EDS members own/have used a biomat before?

Hey Car,

Totally agree with you! I have a FAR Infrared Lamp... They call them miracle lamps in China. It is very healing. My son has used it for his acne... it works for back and neck pain or anywhere on the body... The one I purchased was about $200. However, the only drawback is that you need to position the arm a certain way so you can direct it at the body part that ails you. Since it needs ot be plugged directly into the wall (not used with an extension cord), it's sometimes hard to use it in a lying down position because the cord isn't that long. I am not sure about the amythest benefits myself. Oh btw, the quantum pads are to put on top of the Biomats making them more comfortable. UGH... for the tune of another $300. I too would love to hear from EDS members using the Biomat. Best, Aprile

One quick comment, I looked into lamps too. The issue I found was that they can get knocked over and cause burns, and with 3 pets in the house I don't want to take a chance. Not to mention that my partner is hella clumsy and would most likely accidentally knock it over on me! I'm maybe going to buy a similar, significantly cheaper heating pad to try out. We'll see what I can find. Take care!

Edited to add: is their reason for amethyst kind of like how watches use quartz as some sort of electrical or frequency/tuning element? I don't know what quartz does in a watch but I thought it had something to do with passing along a charge or a vibration or? So the biomat people talk about ions and it made me start thinking about charges & ions and I guess that might be part of the amethyst/jade component on these matts? I clearly know next to nothing about the mechanics of this stuff so don't quote me! I'm just trying to talk through the how's and whys of it Confused

I also have a TDP mineral far infrared mineral lamp which I love. It's great for inflammation. I have a far infrared sauna too, which I also love. I don't have the mat but would love to own one sometime. I have two friends who have the mat and rave about it, especially for pain.
I lay on one once and found it very relaxing.

I wonder if it emits EMF's.....saunas are notorious for emitting a lot of high EMF's. Guess one has to decide what outweighs what.
Maybe the benefit in this case beats the deleterious effects of the EMF's.

Hi April,

Actually I don't have one of their pillows but I have considered getting one. I am EMF sensitive & I find it less conspicuous to carry a neutralizer in my pocket or purse rather than a pillow but who knows it might just help your neck!

I also take Aulterra powder just before we leave for town so I am not "wrecked" the next day. It really does help me! And I take it with my supps in the am also (& often lunch - gives me a nice power boost)I agree with them it does seem to amplify the effects.

Here is a link to their other website & Aulterra. https://www.harmonicinnerprizes.com/products/natural-monatomic-minerals/aulterra/ You may find some of their other products interesting as well. (Dr Rein is the researcher that my husband has collaborated with in the past - but we knew of Aulterra long before they had ever met)(once again no affiliation whateover with manufacturer of any of the aformentioned products)

WOW how does one know if you ARE sensitive or not? I know I get stimulated by too much computer time before bed, but JEEZ at work I am sitting in front of one all day and we have a freakin cell tower (they rent the space) on top of this building. I'm getting one of those babies for my health at work. UGH. You know, I don't know if these issues are related or not, but it seems that after two years of the tower being up there, all of the issues I have now reared their ugly head. What do you think?

I really don't know April but I have heard similar stories from other friends of mine. I KNOW I feel bad when I go to town for several hours (thank god I work from home & can tolerate my desk top & lap top pc's (use a separate keyboard for this so no typing right on it- with the Aulterra help & a synchroton - you can find this at Optimox if you are interested - the brilliant inventor (& father of modern day high dose iodine) Guy Abraham - sadly passed away last year.)& it takes me a day or so to recover. I also only turn my cell on for emergencies & on speaker if then - no cordless phones either. I know this may seem extreme to some but for me it is required.

Anyway as a suggestion consider going on vaca away from wifi, cell towers etc & see if your symptoms improve & then you may have your answer.

I will say I would never be able to tolerate working that close to a cell tower!

I am very interested in natural ways to lower stress and cortisol. I know that high stress levels are very aging for me. I've tried some things with only minor success including talk therapy, exercise, deep breathing, meditation, magnesium and others.

Currently I'm looking into Relora, which is a combo of magnolia and phellodendron bark.

I could have sworn I saw something about how it doesn't release harmful EMFs or has some sort of added technology to help mitigate it and now I can't find the exact language I thought I saw...I may have gotten it mixed up with something else I've been researching lately Question

Mariposa: tell me if you can, do you know how often they use theirs? I wonder if it's the sorta thing one loses interest in or perhaps the cost would be enough to make you use it errrryyyydayyy! Lol

The one friend uses it every day, but she is motivated by fibromyalgic pain. I think pain or any similar thing that is catching your awareness on a regular basis is a great motivator.

For me, I tend to use my tools like sauna etc. when I am really feeling the need. Otherwise I tend to not make the time.

I don't know if the mats give off EMF's. I know most saunas do though. I checked my sauna with a trifield meter. The brand I have is supposed to be very low in EMF's, but it wasn't. It was quite high.

Hi Shasta,

Have you been using lots of magnesium, ie taking baths, applying topically and taking it orally? I know for a fact that it is definitely good for stress and anxiety. I would try upping your dose using the various forms to see if you can lower your stress levels that way. I havent' heard anything about the product you menioned, althogh I am familiar with NOW Foods. If you try it, good luck!!! Best, Aprile

I'm mostly taking it orally (the CALM product). Problem is that I can't seem to increase the dose without stomach trouble. I've tried soaking in the salts as well, but it's tough to do consistently. I'm going to look into the oil as well. Thanks for the suggestions.

Sure thing Shasta.... Try sippng on the Calm throughout the day or I am also using TraceMinerals liquid formula... doesn't cause me tummy troubles. Ancients Minerals Ultra lotion is awesome... They sell it on the site integratedhealth.com for a pretty good price, along with the bath flakes. Of course, you could also use Epsom salts... I mix it up, but I am very deficient. If you have stress and anxiety, you are too. Something like 80% of the population is. UGH. Our modern world. Good luck to you ~ I know it can be so awful Sad Best, Aprile

Shasta,

I bought the NOW Foods version of the Relora. I am willing to try nearly anything that won't make me a zombie to combat anxiety. I'm probably delaying the inevitable, should be on some sort of RX for it but I'm usually pretty good when I exercise 3 times a week and meditate daily. On the worst days, those are the times I don't want to exercise or meditate or do deep breathing, when I need it the most. So have you tried this stuff yet? I was pretty compelled to purchase after reading the links and reviews on amazon too were fairly positive. Please let me know if you're doing anything else.

I still haven't found a FIR mat yet in the price range I want. Depending on my next couple paychecks, I plan to buy the small Biomat. Unless something catches my eye before then.

Girls - Please keep me posted on how you do with the Relora... I have a friend with high cortisol and she wants to try it but is very sensitive. It looks like an herbal formula...Do any of you anything more about it? Thanks, Aprile.

Car - I would love to get the biomat myself. Pretty pricey. I have not seen cheaper versions either. It seems like it would really work well to reduce stress though...

Oh wow - I missed the Ghee conversation. Very interesting.

I'm still circling around EMF protection. I found a site that sells EMF protectors that are supposed to help with the negative energy field of other people. What a riot. If it works - I'm in. I actually emailed the company asking for more info. You carry it in your purse. and it blocks a radius of 750 ft of EMF of all kinds and even will energize water.

Hmm... Some interesting blog-op/info articles in the link above.

BUT, in their (Walt and Emily’s) blog… (From the link above ^^)

http://www.qnorganic.com/category/relax/

“The Best Way to Overcome the Negatives in Our Lives

The world we live is filled with hatred, greed, jealousy and war. This is a heartbreaking reality. The answer, taught by Christ, is for us to love one another with Agape (unconditional) love. And as taught by all great spiritual teachers: “Do unto others as we would have them do unto us.”

We spend so much of our time thinking about ourselves. “I” need this, “I” would really benefit from that or “I” don’t look so good today. Whether it is a positive thought or a negative one, the thoughts we hold of ourselves, and EGO, what I call “Evil Going On” consumes us.

Wouldn’t it be nice, for a break, to take time to serve others so our thoughts can be consumed with pure thoughts and we can begin to create positive change through selfless actions? Not only will we be creating positive change, but through serving others, we will also begin to find self love through the connection with others……”

And (in another of their blog entries)

“ …. live out his words found in Matthew 5:44,45: “I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” That either creates a loving discussion or a quick exit of the person you ask…..”

yet, per their beliefs, they’re selling $200.+ *power-filled*, pocket-sized, protection coins to battle *Evil Going On*.

Laughing

(Wonder if those bags of groceries, Walt’s pictured handing out to the *poor people*, have a coin or two in them.)

I made the decision to buy a pendant from Earth calm. Will let ya'll know if I can feel anything. It's supposed to begin almost immediately - this will be one interesting experiment. I've been through multiple rounds of antibiotics, steroids, sulfa drugs and finally a surgery. Nothing helped at all except acupuncture.

Does anyone do "Breathwalking" and have you found it beneficial?

Quote:
What's Breathwalking?

If you are crunched for time and want to get the physical benefits of walking and the mental benefits of breathing exercises, consider breathwalking. It is based on a Kundalini yoga technique, and involves making strong, purposeful strides in rhythm with breathing.

Watch my colleague, Dr. Jim Nicolai, demonstrate various examples of breathwalking including the "stair" and "wave" patterns. Give them a try! "Breathwalking with Dr. Jim Nicolai."
