Hi
thanks for replying. I read the dermawand thread and wow I think I must get it! It's just what I need. My zits just take forever to heal and they always leave a red mark or scar.
Im having breakouts along the jaw from tanaka massage. They come and go. no idea why. |

Hi faeriedust,
Although I've only had my HF device for only about 2 1/2 weeks, I have to say, I am *so* pleased with this thing! Even my dear skeptic hubby has confirmed that this things has worked to improve my skin!
As far as lifting up sagging skin, I'm not sure, but we'll see... (I'm not very saggy). |

Hi faeriedust - Maybe you are doing a partial detox based on the lymph moving...? don't know - has your diet changed at all too? I'm sure it's a temporary problem. |

I've been doing the ageless and the FE facial massage for awhile now- on and off as I feel my face needs it. I definitely think a facial massage regimen is good for circulation and for the skin texture.
But, I have just tried Tanaka massage for the second day, and I have to say that this *feels* so good to me. My whole face feels relaxed afterward, and I do notice an instant improvement in the texture of my skin as well as diminished fine lines. My skin looks radiant.
I have a heart shaped face, so I won't be going overboard on this, but I LOVE it, and I am so grateful to those who took the time to share this program. I performed the massage on my husband last night, and he loves it, too.
Who would of thought that lifting motions and lymphatic drainage would make my skin look brighter than pinching and rolling??? I would not have thought this at all... |

| I think its interesting to note that some seem to be able to do this daily without issues, and there's others who can't manage it without adverse reactions. I know someone somewhere said at one point it wasn't advisable to do it daily, but I can't locate that post now? Does anyone know if this is nonsense or has some fact behind it? |

Hi all,
I was one of the original converts to Critic's post about Tanaka lymph massage back in the beginning of November. After just one week of massage, I began to experience spot and cyst breakouts. Apart from the odd one or two, I had never suffered from spots before.
I continued the massage for two months until the spot situation became unbearable. At one point over Christmas, just about every pore around my nose had erupted and it had been relentless for the entire two months. Within weeks of stopping the spots went away. From the description of Rosacea, it seemed very similar and without doubt, the Tanaka lymph massage was responsible. And a number of us suffered this.
BUT... the massage did have an extraordinary (although subtle) effect on my face shape and I missed doing it.
So, last month I began again. With two differences.
The first change is the main one.... and for everyone who told me so; please feel free to say "I told you so!!!!" I haven't used oil for the massage. So far I've used Clinique moisturiser (my mum insists on buying the yellow stuff which I hate so decided to use it as massage base). Then I tried it with vaseline and now I use an old Dr Hauschka moisturising mask.
The second change was doing it only once a day. Sean mentioned that the toxin removal twice a day may be too much for some. However the beneficial change to my face shape hasn't yet materialised but if I'm spot free, I don't mind it taking longer.
I have not had a single spot and I've been doing the massage daily since 1st April.
This is a miracle for me and I hope this helps some of the others who enjoyed the massage but not the spotty side-effect! |

Miranda, thank you for sharing that with us, I am sure the info will be of help to some.
I have moved from a home oil & aromatherapy mix (which smells delicious but keeps me awake at bedtime, no doubt because of the geranium oil contained therein) to pure Argan oil (pooh!) for the last week of my Tanaka massage, & await some change in result. Will keep you posted. |

That is fantastic news and I am so happy for you as remember the spots were getting you down.
I think it was Sean who mentioned to me about the not doing it so regularly thing but can't find out if its just his opinion or if there is actual science behind why it should/shouldn't be done daily?

| I also broke out when I used oil (grapeseed) but since switching to oatmilk the breakouts have stopped. I only do the Tanaka massage once a day, and it instantly perks up my face and gives it a glow. |

I have been doing the massage for a year, and here is a new update :
I was attending a friend's birthday party and have seen many friends that have not seen since last Christmas 2009. I started Tanaka in April/May 2009. I can't believe that 2 of them cannot recognize me, until I went over to say hello, long time no see. These girlfriends kept asking what I have done to my face, and as usual, they thought I have lost weight.
I actually did not see much improvement these few months, but still try to do it 2 times a day. |

Critic,
You are such an inspiration for all of us! I can just imagine how wonderful you must look.
I am not as consistent in doing the massage but enjoy it very much. Thank you for sharing this with us!

Thank you! I just took some family photos with kids and my mom on Mother's Day. I'm now a new person comparing with last year. We have decided to frame some of the photos and hang on the wall. |

I use OCM, followed by Obagi cleaners to do the massage. I got a new book from Madame Saeki, she strongly against OCM, she did explain the reasons, if we insist to use oil, she suggests to buy the expensive one and mix it with water before using. She also strongly against cleanse 2 times (like what I am doing), she said our skin will becoming more sensitive if we keep cleansing it. |

Hi critic - what does Madame Saeki suggest be used to cleanse your face? Does she mention what the expensive oil is?
Miranda - Hey there!!
What changes did you see to your face shape? (which was already remarkable as I recall )... |

sister sweets,
She recommends to use cream-form cleanser for mature skin, she never recommends any brand in her books but I suspect she refers DHC as cheap cleansing oil, as it is very popular in Japan and not expensive.
I am using Shu Umera, which is quite expensive. |

Hi Sis!
Previously when I was doing Tanaka twice a day, I noticed my face shape becoming more defined. As you know, my face is already quite angular but the extra definition wasn't detrimental, it just looked younger (nl's lessening, facial exercise overbuild round mouth softening, cheeks lifting). It was slight but definitely there.
This time round I'm doing the massage only once a day and haven't noticed any changes although I feel as though I'm having a 'good face' day every day. Hmmmm...maybe it's subtly working already? It's only been six weeks so I'm hoping to notice a more obvious change around the 3 month mark.
One thing that has been immediate both times, is the lessening of the puffiness round my eyes and the clearing of my sinus (I suffer hayfever all year round ) |

I have been reading about Tanaka religioulsy on this Forum. I am Indian(Asia) and have a good face overall.
I have been doing Tanaka religiously since last Dec. People have commented that I look 'Fresh' and my face is looking more 'Elegant' etc etc. do I kept doing it. Now I no longer have puffy eyes, my jawline is refined, my skin is glowy and everyday after waking up I don't have a morning face, Kinda like when I was in my twenties. (I am 35).
I am very very happy to have found something that takes 3 minutes in a day and gives me these results. I think I will do it for life.
I can't thank Critic enough to have introduced us to this massage. |

I agree with the comments above - there is something special (albeit subtle) about the Tanaka massage.
I'm going to give it a try with my Karin Herzog essential mask (Thanks for that tip Miranda ).
I have used the sample packs of DHC cleansing oil and I liked it (even if it is cheap stuff - oops!). Have never tried Shu Umera - I'm sure it's lovely. |

I was doing the Tanaka massage for about 1 month. And it caused a breakout along the jaw line and neck area, so I have to give it out. Recently i started it again, because my N/L is getting really bad, and my lower face is starting to droop.
I have acne prone, oily face. So instead of the Kanebo massage cream I was using, I change it to Base Formula Aloe vera gel.
I see a big different this time round. N/L is less obvious, face is more lifted and no more breakout. |

Although she might not personally recommend any brands in her books, I've noticed she does include pictures of products next to descriptions. So for example, she has in my Skincare revolution book Elizabeth Ardens Cream Cleanser etc.

I am so in love with this massage. I constantly wake up with puff face, and this massage works wonders. My one regret with it...I tried it with olive oil. Big Mistake. I got the oil in my eye and had cloudy vision for two days, and this morning I noticed a millia under my eyelid. I know that this was due to the oil. I've tried using cleanser, but I end up with it in my hair and I don't like to shampoo every day. I also do it occasionally with my tanning cream and get exceptional coverage.
I've only been doing this for a few weeks, but between this and the EES, I feel like I have a new face! I have jowls, one side much more pronounced than the other, and those are receding. I'm not seeing an effect on my triple chins yet, though. Is there a spot exercise for this, perhaps? |

Zoftig, thank you very much for that link. There are some additional resources on that page as well that look very promising. My chin is mostly genetic, and I had the beginning of it when I was in my early 30s and still a size 3. It's only gotten worse with time....so I can't expect overnight results, but I will start incorporating those exercises into my routine, as well as that additional lymph drainage into my massage routine. If you can also help me with my puffy, droopy eyelids, you'll be my new best friend!!
Now that I've made ten posts, I can go and officially thank you for your help! xo ~Lori |

LBoz, (sorry about the earlier X )
When we find someone to help with our puffy, droopy eyelids, we'll both have a new best friend!
