My friend also purchased the Tria. She is really looking to erase lines on her forehead. She is only 44. BUT, the past two days has used it on her entire face only on Level 1 -- She is fair...blonde, blue-eyed. She said she sees broken caps that were never there before after the second session. Has anyone experienced this? I know that sun damage will often come to the surface and be eventually sloughed off, but broken caps more visible? What could this be?
Thanks! Aprile

I would advise her to call the company, they are trained to handle all kinds of skin reactions.

My experience has been that my broken caps have improved. I had very evident spider veins on my chest that are not noticeable any more.

I feel that some people are not prepared for any reaction whatsoever. Some redness has to be expected - so it could be that the broken caps are more evident, but they will eventually fade.

Keliu, are you still doing any laser treatment in a salon once in a while, or now that you use ReAura there is no need for having professional laser treatments?

No, I see no need to "waste" my money with salon treatments. I was getting Laser Genesis treatments at $300.00 a pop and, quite frankly, the ReAura gives me a far more intense treatment. I used to walk out of the salon with barely any redness.

Of course, the ReAura cannot compare to the more invasive treatments such as Pearl Laser or Fraxel Restore - but it does give the advantage of ongoing use.

Thanks ladies!! I will have her call or I will call for her if I have the chance.. I think you are right though...it's probably old damage surfacing. I have some weird red spots that sort of look like broken caps, but I'm sure it's old damage... Gotta get through the bad times to get to the good. AND be patient!!! Laughing

I'm not sure whether broken caps can be classified as "old damage surfacing". IMO broken caps are either there or they're not. At least mine were always very evident. Theoretically, to get rid of them you have to disperse the blood in the veins so that it get re-absorbed into the body. Just my two cents worth!

Yes I'm with you on that... I'm going to take a look at her face. I have some red spots that have resurfaced that I think were spots that had faded from blemishes that I previously picked at... if that makes any sense!! I do think we are often unprepared for what might happen using these types of devices. But I think in the end it's all going to be fine... it's just getting through the rough patches. Smile Aprile

Thank you PQ!!! This is very interesting and enlightening. I'm glad I purchased the Tria... My skin is starting to adjust to Level 2 and although it is very drying, I'm trying to combat it with lots of internal hydration and skin oils. I also thought perhaps I should take my little portable ultrasonic unit from Prolightaesthetics out and start using it again. It might help restore some moisture to my skin. What are your thoughts about this? Thanks, Aprile

Interesting read PQ, thanks!

I'm on my 3rd set of treatments now and continue to see improvements. Skin feels more dense and firm, hyperpigmentation fading more on larger spots and other spots are completely gone. I keep getting compliments on my complexion so there is a noticable difference. After this 3rd time around I will take a break from using Tria for the summer months. I should mention I don't notice a huge difference in lines yet other than crowsfeet have softened somewhat. The Tria has most definitely been a worthwhile investment.

Thanks for the paper PQ - Most interesting is the concept that skin heating (via laser) may account for increased uptake of topical products - especially Vit.C topicals.
I wish it had told when to apply the topicals - before/after tx for optimal uptake or maybe it is a constant in terms of uptake. In any case I'm going to pull out my C to use the following morning after laser use in the evening.

Interesting.... Since PQ posted this video, I decided to pull out NCN's new C serum this morning and noticed that my skin looked more moisturized, which I find odd since C serums are usually are little drying. However, to combat the drying effects of the laser, I have been using oils like you recommended in the shower and that has really turned things around for me...the heat from the steam seems to help penetrate the oil better. Thanks for that tip Sis!!! I am loving the Tria!! Can't wait till my 8 weeks are up...5 weeks to go... woo hoo! Laughing Aprile

After reading the presentation, this was the conclusion, in layman's terms:

- the home lasers have shown to improve aging skin around the eyes.

- the home lasers increase the penetration of topical ingredients, but that could be due to the heat generated, not due to the laser.

- more studies needed.

Sad

Will keep watching you all for more results!

BFG - I think the laser has done far more than just improve the skin around my eyes. It has drastically improved my chest skin, in terms of evening out skin-tone and eliminating broken capillaries. My facial skin also appears smoother, pores less noticeable - my SH is also much improved.

You know I run the absolute gamut with home-use skincare devices. But the Philips ReAura Laser is definitely the most impressive when it comes to delivering actual visible changes to the skin. It is an expensive device - but worth every penny.

Your personal results are very encouraging.

Always makes me wonder about the test subjects they use in these studies.

Maybe they are teenagers, lol.

I second Keliu's assessment. ReAura is somewhat expensive, but if I had to buy a new one each year it would still be worth it!

I figure I was actually saving money after just one treatment protocol AND the lower intensity and more frequent treatments were actually more effective for my very sun damaged skin than the many expensive professional laser treatments I've had.

ReAura is brilliant for sun damage and I am really excited to see what several years of treatments will do for collagen induction.

Unfortunately the success of my ReAura experience has spawned a device * spam alert * which may prove costly!

Does anyone know what the difference is between the two devices - the Reaura and Tria? I'm not complaining but this is the Tria thread and I was just wondering if both devices provide similar results. Thanks, Aprile

Aprile ~ I believe PQ has both devices.
I understand the ReAura is used less frequently but takes longer... someone with the ReAura please correct me if I'm wrong.

The Tria is daily but less time to administer the Treatment.
I recall Philip/PQ liking both devices and the outcome as being similar.

Thanks Sis - I will check out his reviews. I do subscribe to his blog too. How are you doing with your Tria? Have you bumped up to Level 3 yet? It's coming up on three weeks for me. Hoping to see something after the eight weeks. Best, Aprile
