I am new here and have been trying the Tanaka massage. I was just wondering and sorry if this has been asked before, I have been reading and reading, but haven't come across an answer yet. But was wondering if you do all 3 videos? It almost seems to repeat from #1 - #2, or maybe it is meant to be like that.
Was also wondering where to find the bit about the bone massage, was interested in doing that as well. Thanks -kim

Trust me don't touch the bone stuff - I did Tanaka and had great results, but then ventured into the bone stuff and didn't have access to the full instructions in English, and that caused me a great deal of issues. FlexEffect though has bone stuff that I love (and its demo'd on a dvd and written about in great length) so if your really wanting to try bone stuff I'd head in that direction. You can also do Tanaka at same time as the FlexEffect stuff (though they'll probably kill me for saying it, I have done it and several others without any adverse effect daily!).

thanks, maybe I will stay away from the bone stuff Smile Do you do all 3 of the videos with the Tanaka massage? Like I said, some of them seem to repeat themselves, but that could just part of it? Thanks -kim

kim, if you are talking about the YouTube Taneka videos with English subs, then the Part 1 to the beginning of Part 2 explains the massage. The rest of Part 2 and beginning of Part 3 covers doing the massage on yourself and the end of Part 3 and Part 4 cover the tips on the massage. When you are doing the massage on yourself, follow Parts 2 and 3.

I have been doing the Tanaka massage on & off for about 9 months now. I keep referring to the 4 YouTube videos, & also have written out instructions & drawn accompanying pictures which I find useful to have by my bathroom mirror or when I am travelling away from home.

There are a number of poor translations available on the Internet (although you can interpolate the meaning - just), the more I read, the more I realise how very important it is to carry out the exercises correctly, & that there are many points to take care to carry out for each of the moves - applying pressure here for 3 seconds or reducing pressure here would be an example.

Today again I was searching for more information on the Internet. I really would like to buy Tanaka's book & DVD all in English, but no luck on UK Amazon of course. However I did find this person (link below), who is Japanese, & offering an English translation for a pdf download, it costs about 1,200 yen, that is about Ł9.32 in British pounds.

http://www.dlmarket.jp/product_info.php/products_id/8930

My question is, has anyone purchased this? is it worth paying for? Or can anyone point me to the book & DVD in English for purchase? Is it possible to burn the 4 YouTube videos to a DVD for use? Or how would I copy from YouTube to DVD?

I do think this massage has something going for it. I am currently back doing it twice a day, with organic cold pressed hemp seed oil into which I have added some frankincense. I am really impressed with the lift around the mouth & jawline which are a great concern for me at present.

Your not yet going to be able to find an English version of it on Amazon, as its currently only available in Japanese/Chinese print. Even the youtube video you have been following (to my understanding) is one where Epic Beauty herself got translated and does the voice over. I did purchase those instructions that you mention, but was disappointed with them. Reason being is that they are a little narrative based so you kind of get a translation of whats being said, and of course there are different intrepreations.

Even the translation of it isn’t in perfect English from memory, there are some quite obvious misspellings so I’d really suggest sticking with EpicBeauty’s translation which I like. I’ve got to be careful doing it though, as my skin does show signs of stress easily. I’d love to know if its possible to burn the youtube video to dvd, so if you find those instructions just let me know.

Sending you a PM too!

Many thanks TheresaMary, a useful reply which has saved me wasting some money.

I will look into burning a DVD from YouTube, it would be the end of life as we know it, if the 4 Epicbeauty translation videos were removed from Youtube, it does not bear thought Shock

Cooking Katy,

I agree 100% with TheresaMary.

I also purchased the ones you found, had access to European videos, and find the latest one on youtube the best of them all.

HTH

P.S. How are doing with Skindream Titanium? Are you still happy with it and do you feel it was worth the money? if you can post an update on that thread or PM me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Cooking Katy,

thank you so much.
I have not yet gotten your PM, but very much looking forward to reading it.

I also think that Tanaka massage is a wonderful addition to any regimen. To my utter surprise and amazement I discovered (based on these latest videos) that I had been doing some of the movements incorrectly - the newly explained way makes a lot more sense to me. Go figure...

I will see if I can save the videos (all 4 part), they are priceless imho.

HTH

Thanks to TheresaMary and others for their comments about "customizing" the Tanaka massage according to our needs. I also feel that some of the exercises tend to "over-sculpt" the lower face (even though I'm Asian). So we can probably eliminate these if we don't need them or else do them less frequently.

I have been this massage for 10 days or so( well my own easy version of it) with rosehip and wheat germ oil and I have gotten very good results at my jaw line; I think I had some stagnant lymph there which has moved to where it belongs!

I love Tanaka massage. Quick- I do have it bookmarked - all three but wrote a cheat sheet and do know it by heart. I massage in a great oil while doing it and then rinse or let it soak into the skin depending upon time of day and what's goingon.

I found the massage works very well if you have eye bags, I am drinking a cup of Chinese herbal tea before bedtime these days and found 2 big eye bags the next morning, I combine with Saeki massage and focus on the eye area and eye bags gone in 5 minutes.

There also are some Dvd's and books in english on lymphatic drainage massage, and shiatsu which are great http://www.amazon.com/Lymphatic-Drainage-Massage-Therapy-Face/dp/B0040H3UJ2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1290223703&sr=1-3

I have a question regarding "Step 5 Remove the deep nasolabial grooves and left up the entire cheeks." This is the step after the nose.

How do we move our hands from the middle of our chin to the area under the inner eye? Do we move it up in a straight line (as shown on the video) or move from middle of the chin, to the corners of our mouth, to under the nose and than upwards to the inner eyes?

thank you!

Snowstar - I do the last description you give.

So I start in the middle of the chin, move out & up to the mouth corners, then in towards the cheek, either side of the nose wing (this is like drawing the 2 sides of a circle, if likened to a clock face the fingers are starting in the chin groove, sitting either side of 6 o'clock, by the time you have swept round the mouth, your fingers are sitting at 11 & 1 o'clock). Then, using 2 fingers each side, I press very hard all the way up either side of the nose to the eye corners, hold for 3 seconds then sweep out & follow the usual final move (temple to clavicles).

One of the write ups, or maybe it was indeed the YouTube video, states clearly that you should feel the face lifting upwards from the chin. I feel this strongly by the time I have reached the cheek area either side of the nose wing. I usually stand against a wall to be able to get the force required, it seems to help stabilise the head for pushing against. If I do not get this lift up feeling then I start again as I know I have not done the move correctly. It seems important to get that "tidal wave" of muscle running above & ahead of your fingers to achieve the lifting up feeling.

We probably all interpret this move differently, but this is how I do it.

Does anybody know where I could get a translation of Yukuko Tanaka's book into English? I would really like the book because it probably explains the massage technique in more detail than in the video.

I've looked everywhere, but all I've seen is the Japanese version.

You know I don't believe one exists and have like you searched for wanting to get hold of proper instructions. So far the best video I've seen is the one that everyone's posted already by EpicBeauty who got her friend to translate the video, but as such there's not an English version of the book (although I think she's missing out on major bucks not having one) and hope that she does come out with an English/American version soon.

thanks Cooking Katy =) your description was very very helpful. i think we are on the right track as i have the book in chinese and the diagram is like what you describe. it was the video that was causing me concern as i viewed it many times and she looks like she is moving it straight up!

i'm missing out on the "tidal wave" and will try out your method of standing against the wall. Seems like I need to do some web trawling!

thank you!!

Is there a written explanation of the exercises? I would like to do the massage at night before going to bed and I don't have my computer near my bed. I would like to be able to follow along with written instructions and have them available for when my computer isn't available.
My biggest concern is undereye bags and wrinkles as well as forehead lines.

thanks,
Cheryl

Hi
I have been searching the web for ways to get rid of my slight chubby cheek that seems to have lowered to between corners of mouth and jaw. i am 44 tomorrow, I have had fillees and botox about a year ago, but dont really want to do this again, I had fillers in my upper cheeks to give me a better cheek bone look. I didnt really like the look of this as its a bit angular in shape.
I have just received flexeffect, and have done 2 days but after reading threads on the forum am concerend about making my cheek bulges worse. I have pm toby as I have read she has tried a few different programs and appears to be a veteran in facial improving.
I was wandering if loulous program might be best suited for me and if the takra massage(sorry forgot how to spell it) would help, or shall I combine flexeffect and takra.
any advice is appreciated
thankyou

As far as I know the Tanaka massage will help in lifting the chubbiness from the lower part of your face to the upper part...whether you do facial ex. or not. I have found it to work great in giving back the narrowness of youth on my neck and lower face.
As to facial ex. the Flexeffect works the whole face, and the Ageless, in your special case may not be convenient, as you say you have fillers in your upper cheeks, and don't want to make the 'cheek bulges worse'... as it works specially on naturally building the cheeks...
