Hi,
i am new here and just started the obagi condition and enhance system 2 weeks ago.
I am 44 and have major sunspots,
not much wrinkling, but some sagging.
I am not peeling much yet,
but am breaking out...
so it is nice to read about everyone who
stuck it out and are happy with the results! |
Good luck, Jewell! |

Kims and Rileygirl,
Yes, I am really happy!
I must say that each day is different though, today I itch and peel again, but mostly I see a huge difference and feel that the start of week 5 was really the big change for me..
again, thanks for all your support and advise along the way. |

Keep going, blueeyes. You will definitely have the ups and downs with the peeling, etc., but it is definitely worth it in the end! |

Hello! I started Obagi Nu-Derm 4 days ago.
I REALLY look tanned and it's very freaky for me and everyone around me because I'm quite fair and I use sunscreen like crazy. So people are looking at my with this "what on earth...?!?!?" face!
My under eye area is horribly wrinkly but the rest it's sort of OK. I had a party yesterday so before going I got rid of the flaky skin and soaked my skin in Emu oil to make it look better.... it worked!
Anyways, I hope this works to make a couple of sunspots go away and get rid of some the uneven areas.
Have a good day everyone!

Hi Blueeyes,
I think you're going to have amazing results at the end of 18 weeks! Especially since you're getting compliments after only using Nuderm for such a short period.
And, Josee: Welcome to the club! Keep us updated on your progress! |

kims, are you on maintenance still? I am going to get my lab work drawn at the end of this month, and then I'll be starting Nu Derm for my once a year treatment February 1! |

Hi Rileygirl,
Still on maintenance! I really don't have a "set" routine, but tend to use the products 2-3 times a week with the exception of retin a. I'm using it daily. I'm getting ready to place an order with EDS. I'm totally out of Clear and I'd like to try the Obagi Vit C with hydroquinine. My skin still has its ups and downs but I seem to be keeping the hyperpigmentation at bay! |

That is great to hear that you are keeping your hyperpigmentation at bay, kims! You found what works for you on "maintenance" and that is all that matters! |

I agree, Rileygirl! I absolutely hated my sunspots; they just weren't cute freckles anymore! Nuderm has taken care of most of it but I still have a few stubborn spots remaining (all on the right side of my face.) That being said, I'm going in for an IPL treatment tomorrow (Jan. 19) and I'm hoping this will help. Who knows?? Will let you guys know what happens! |

Helenzqq,
It's very normal to be red for quite a long time while using Nuderm and to feel like you're looking "tanned." Don't worry; your skin is NOT getting darker. I felt like I looked like this too.
I was red/pink for almost the entire 18 weeks, but that doesn't mean you will be. Everyone reacts differently.
Also, I don't think there's a necessary wait time between the products. But if you're more comfortable waiting, I see no harm in it.
Good Luck! |

Yes, kims is right, the redness will usually persist throughout the entire regimen for a lot of people. It is very annoying, but just another side effect mostly of the Exfoderm.
You don't need to wait any length of time in between layers, but you need to really rub in the products well in each step before moving on. |

Hi Rileygirl,
I had the IPL treatment yesterday. I had a series done about 5-6 years ago, but this time it seemed a lot more painful even using topical anesthesia. Guess I could be getting wimpier in my old age! Anyway I 'm a little red and swollen today. I also had them treat my hands -- I really have pigmentation problems all over my body due to intense sun worshipping and no use of sunscreen for many, many, years.
On my hands, there's a ton of black spots forming already that will slough off, but nothing notable on my face. I did have some broken caps beside my nose and the IPL did take care of those.
I'm thinking this treatment is going to improve my skin; I'll just keep going with maintenance! |

Thanks for the report back, kims. I am jealous. 1 treatment too care of your broken caps? I may just have to save up for this (if I can get past the fear of pain)!! That sounds like great results for your hands. So, the black spots, are they like scabs that just come off?
I think we are sisters in a different life. I have the sun damage on my body as well due to years of no sunscreen use! Oh, to be young and do it all over again (the right way!), huh? |

Hi Leggy,
Not Rileygirl, but I think the yearly round calls for another 18 weeks. Fun, huh?? I'm due for my yearly in April! |

Rileygirl,
The black spots aren't exactly scabs, but they do kind of rise to the surface and will eventually slough off. I think it's probably optimal to have a microdermabrasion, but I'm just going to use my Clarisonic for the exfoliation.
I agree, we definitely must be "skin twins!" |

They usually recommend once a year to do an 18 week cycle, Leggy. I personally think this totally depends on your skin, though. If your skin looks good and you are happy where you are at, I would try for a 6 week cycle. |

That is so interesting. I haven't known anyone personally to have the IPL, so it is nice to hear from someone exactly what happens! |

I guess I will start my routine and see how the first 6 weeks goes, should be easier the second time around,my skin is much thicker now.
Kims I had IPL done about 2 years before and its was'nt too bad,but I had it done about 6 weeks after the nuderm and it was alittle more painful. It did work well. |

Hi Leggy,
I'm currently on "Obagi Maintenance" and wanted something that might help fine tune my results so I chose an IPL treatment. I'm hoping just this one will do the trick and I won't need anymore (at least not for a while!) When will you be starting your yearly Nuderm routine. It will be interesting to see the results we yield in "round 2"! |

That's why I did it, to fine tune the results from the Nuderm, and was happy with it. I will probably start in about a week.I had a little problem with over exfoliating and am waiting for that to calm down some more before I start.I'm hoping for just 6 weeks but we'll see,I let you know. |
