Fresh or dried seaweed? I ask because I eat TONS of dried (Japanese and Korean) seaweed, but have never eaten them fresh. I almost always have sushi every other day and I buy jars and jars of nori to snack on (more addictive than potato chips). So, I am wondering if there are still benefits to eating the dried stuff, or is it just the fresh seaweed that's good for you? |

Kristen, so sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I did copy the way to stretch the liquid kelp (I bought some today at Whole Foods). I really appreciate your tips |

There are some very large Japanese and Korean grocery stores in Chicago. One recently opened Korean grocery store near where I live is as large as a Walmart. There are a large variety of seaweeds sold there. Some are dried. Some looked fresh and are kept in large barrels. We put them in plastic bags and they are sold by weight. The last time I looked, there were 5/6 barrels of different kind of seaweeds, of all shapes and sizes.
I like seaweed and I usually try to eat the fresh kind as there are less salt and seasonings on them but I don't have many ideas of preparing for them. I can only eat so much mizo soup before I get bored. |

Hi tjsmom,
No need to apologize, we all get busy or forget about threads (is there a way to track threads you have answered?). What exactly did you end up buying at whole foods?
Kristen
maiea--i am sure eating it dried is beneficial too. better than none at all. i should really try buying more. you reminded me that i like the dried snack ones, yummy and hardly any calories too!
Moochez, very interesting, i have to go check out the seaweeds at the korean stores now. |

I'm hoping there's still benefits to the dried stuff, lol. If none, oh well, it's still very yummy! I do make a note of looking for ones w/o any MSG added to them, but you guys are right, the dried stuff has a lot of salt and flavouring added to them. Funny enough, I don't even know how to prepare miso, so I just buy the sachets where all you do is add hot water and *poof* instant miso, with re-constituted seaweed bits. |

calling on Arielle -- yoo hoo!
which one of these magic ingredients might help get rid of redness i have on the lower neck, upper chest? it was exacerbated by a necklace allergy (which i took off), but still seems to hang in there. it looks absolutely ridiculous on my otherwise pale skin. not that i don't have other problems to deal with -- i've just become obsessed with this.... |

There are a number of things that will calm the skin. Since this was from an allergy try Yeast Beta Glucan mixed in a gentle cream (make sure it doesn't have Vitamin A in it). You might want to pick up some caplets and take them, as well.
BGs are amazing for rosacea so it should certainly help with this since it, too, is an allergy response.
Hope this helps.

thank you so much! from everything i've seen so far, i was thinking this was the magic ingredient but wasn't positive. now all i have to do is figure out how to get it here in france....
ETA: to all you seaweed eaters out there. i usually get mine dry and soak it (a few times if it's real salty) then chop it up and add it to my sunomono salad. it's one of my favourite ways to eat it. |

I just ordered another 20 kgs of SKB, got confirmation and everything. So the other vendor/distributor is just being a poopy head!
For those on this forum or ordering, could we PLEASE keep this under wraps. I would hate to not keep this going and have it available to EVERYONE. |

Hey Kristen,
I got a bottle of "Liqui-Kelp" for less than $5. However, I'm not so sure about it b/c it's a clear serum that doesn't smell! How's that for confusing?!

| Still waiting, geeze its like pulling teeth to get any info from these companies, guess it comes with the territory. Please disregard any typos and sentences without any grammatical structure, typing on a blackberry makes it quite difficult and usually don't realize it after I post and re-read it *blushes*. So happy that I can do this for EVERYONE, the more the merrier!!!! |

It is so kind of you ariesxtreme to do this for others , as SKB is expensive to buy in such small quantities from online businesses. And they way everyone goes through it.......?
At least everyone will be able to use as much as they want without the pull on the purse strings!
good luck everybody |

Just a note for those who want actives that we can't co-op because we won't have enough folks wanting them:
There are a number of on-line suppliers for these. Here are just a few:
www.skinactives.com
www.theherbarie.com
www.bulkactives.com
I get my Fennel Extract from The Herbarie and I love it.

Ari, thank you for posting these sites. I have been buying my actives from skinactives, and didn't know about these other sites. Do you prefer theherbarie to the others? |

I love all my current suppliers. I can't beeeelieve I forgot WholesaleSuppliersPlus.com and Garden of Wisdom when I listed Bulkactives and The Herbarie. (mea culpa, Markey. ) They are all great, great, great to work with--helpful and caring customer service and very fast shipping.
Who I use for what depends on availability and pricing. That's all.
