If you look on the main Devita site, you can see that the bottles come with a white pump over the previous flip-top version. Depending where you ordered it from, you may end up with either one. Hopefully the one I'll receive will be the pump kind.

I currently use Marie Veronique's sunscreen. It's pricey even though it's been lasting for 3 months with probably 1 more left. I would love it if their darkest tint was right for my skin color. Also it can be drying if I don't have the right moisturizer underneath. Therefore, there seems to be more cost-effective sunscreens that would perform better and be lighter on the wallet.

Now, I am using japanese sunscreen called biore spf 50. It's better than anessa and it doesn't clog my pore. Recommended.

It is a bit pricey but I used the MUA discount on skincarerx.com (MUA20) and I save 20% on it. I've used the Epicuren too and I liked it, but I like Dermaquest better. I tried Pratima but it seemed too heavy to me, I couldn't wait to wash it off.

Jom,

You may want to go online and compare the ingredients of untinted Dermaquest Zinclear SPF 30 to the Burnout Eco-Sensitive. The ingredients are nearly identical and both contain 18.6% zinc oxide. There is one big difference - the price. The Burnout product costs about 1/3 of the Dermaquest product.

Perfect. Thank you. I have wanted to get the Dermaquest ever since Jom first recommended it, but it is So expensive. Off to order the Burnout!

I wonder if Burnout sunscreen contains Zinclear? It could be, but I don't have confirmation yet.

The plot thickens! I actually contacted Burnout recently and they've told me that the tackyness of the "eco sensitive" sunscreen was due to a bad batch (I ordered it back in January) and they've since moved on to a different form of zinc oxide. Fortunately, they've volunteered to send me a tube of the eco sensitive sunscreen. I can't wait to try it.

I did ask about particle size and it's not nano- the smallest particle size is 1 micron. So that's "micro" sized.

I think a reasonable price point is very important in a sunscreen. I'm really annoyed by expensive sunscreens because it just doesn't seem right. We're *supposed* to slather it on! Not like some expensive serum where maybe the manufacturer can get away with saying "a little goes a long way". It doesn't with sunscreen. Also, sunscreen is the kind of thing that we should be comfortable sharing.

I emailed them and asked them if their sunscreen contained Z-Cote and they said no. If indeed it contains ZinClear, then there is a question mark of whether it contains nanoparticles. At one time, I "misread" the product info on ZinClear which stated that the mean particle size was 1 micron. I didn't read carefully and thought it was minimum particle size 1 micron. But in fact somebody pointed out to me that it was mean particle size and that in fact ZinClear (even the ZinClear-IM) does contain nanoparticles at the lower end of the particle size range.

Perhaps you can email them to ask specifically if it contains ZinClear or not.

That is interesting about the "bad batch" being tacky. I ordered mine at the end of 2009 and I also thought the Eco-Sensitive was rather tacky (my hair sticking to my face after I applied it). I would be interested if you get a new sample if the "current" version is any less tacky than what you got previously.

I think price is important too but I think it's important to really like your sunscreen and find one that really works for you. The Dermaquest is the best sunscreen I've ever used and I've tried many. It meets all the requirements I have in a sunscreen. It doesn't make my skin shiny or oily looking or feeling, it dries to a matte finish and the extra twenty or so dollars I pay doesn't break the bank for me so it isn't a deal-breaker. I wouldn't pay $85 every few months for sunscreen like the ZO Skin Health people would like us to but forty dollars for the Dermaquest isn't a problem for me.

My Devita travel kit came in today so the Ultra Solar 50 was in a 1/2 oz jar. On first look, the sunscreen is completely white as a lotion would be. Though its texture once I tested it on my hand was totally transparent. There was no shiny finish and when I felt my hand it was slightly soft. I do have tan brown skin so this is a huge plus. For scent, it is a very light almond which I find pleasant. It did not feel heavy either, I would consider it to be a normal weight moisturizer. From years ago, it reminds me of a Oil of Olay moisturizer as comparison. So I feel it would not dry out drier skin types for normal weather. For colder weather, another layer of moisture might be needed.

For the face test, I tried it on bare, no shine effect, matte and light softening to the skin. Then I washed my face, applied toner, serum, and lastly the sunscreen. There was a slight glow due to my serum but after 2 minutes it dried to more of a healthy matte look. Not quite a dewy look but almost there. It was also a good base to put on my loose foundation. For loose powder I find that the skin needs to be that perfect balance of moisturized to not look dry or be look oily for my combination skin. So it's nice so far that this doesn't interfere with my current routine.

I will have to see in the coming weeks if I break out or have any irritation with it. This sunscreen certainly has good formulation and would highly recommend it to others if it continues to perform well. As for the Devita 30 and Pratima, they are still on the way and will be able to compare them. I still am in need for a body sunscreen as at this price and volume, I would rather reserve it for my face.

Amarise:

Do you have the ingredients list for the Ultra Solar? There are a few ingredients lists floating around but some are not the "correct" one so I would be interested in what you have on your jar since you have presumably the most recent consignment. Did you purchase direct from Devita or through a reseller?

The ingredients are labeled as this:

Active Ingredient: Micronized Zinc Oxide 19% (Transparent), Titanium Dioxide 8%
Inactive Ingredients: Purified Water, Certified Organic Aloe Vera Gel, Capric/Caprylic Triglycerides (derived from coconut oil), Stearic Acid, Vegetable Glycerin, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Hyaluronic Acid, Glyceral Stearate (from vegetable oil), Lecithin, Vitamin E (Acetate), Allantoin, Comfrey Root Extract, and Grape Seed Extract.

If there are any misspellings, that is due to my typing Wink

I purchased it through a reseller. For the professional line, it is not sold through the Devita website. It was intended for skin care professionals and the like. So I just purchased from a site that had good customer service and was located near the west coast for fast shipping.

This review is for the Pratima Neem Rose 30 sunscreen.

First off, the sunscreen's color appears to be white with a tint of tan or pink. Not a issue as there is no white cast here. The smell might put off some as to me it's like soapy glue versus any floral hint. It's not overbearing nor is it the worse. The texture is similar to a lotion but seems more oily.

On my freshly washed face with toner & serum, the finish was matte. It bordered on the line of being dry but that usually is the case for me with using sunscreens without a moisturizer underneath. Only reason I tried it this way was to compare it to the Devita 50 which acts a moisturizer and sunscreen in one.

So I tried it on a newly washed face, adding a moisturizer this time, and my face felt moisturized enough with more of a glow. So this could be a good point for the summertime as it does not appear to add to any oiliness my skin would have. Also a caution to those with drier skin, you might require a layer of moisturizer underneath.

For the weight of it, it has a heavier feel compared to the Devita 50 but is still light enough. By weight, I mean that it feels like the staying power is heavy as it seems it would be harder to wash off with perspiration.

All in all, a nice sunscreen. If I had to choose at the moment between the Devita 50 or Pratima Neem Rose 30, I would choose the Devita. Main reason is that I can skip the step of using a moisturizer. Besides that, they are pretty close.

I'll be watching for any signs of breakouts or irritations with this one as well.

I'm a little skeptical on how 'sheer' this really is given that I've used Skinceuticals ultimate spf3 that has z-cote in it, which is supposed leave minimal white cast but find it to leave a noticeable white cast.

I just received my SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50 yesterday. I am on the fence with this product, and one day of use is too soon to give a fair opinion. I love SkinCeuticals and use many of their products. This is my first sunscreen to use from their company. Upon opening the package, the bottle is very very small. I mean, I looks like a sample size to me. I read the directions and it says to shake well before use. I started shaking the bottle and I could hear a ball rolling around inside (like a nail polish bottle). When I put it on it did leave a white cast. Now, I am white as a ghost as it is, but I mean I was really white. I have been using DermaDoctor BodyGuard SPF 30 for a few years, which never left a white cast like this, and the tube is much larger and lasts me months. Honestly, this bottle looks like it won't last even 1 month based on the size and for $30.00, I don't know.

I will continue to use it and maybe work with the application of it to see if I can avoid the white cast. Smile

Glad I could help. Very Happy The Devita Solar Block 30 looks like it will be here today, so I'm hoping to try that out for the body and face.

Talk about timing, glad the online shop is up. I've been wanting to try some other items from Pratima, like the Liposomes, Neem cream, or one of the cleansers. Now I can see what they look like with all the ingredients easier to read.

For the next few weeks, I'll be testing out the Devita Ultra Solar 50 to see how it holds up without any interference from other sunscreens, then either the Pratima or Devita 30. I used the Devita 50 today and I'm finding it a pleasure to put on so far.

Lol, I could have sworn I did not see that orange demo bar sign earlier.

That's a bummer, it's like teasing showing everything even up to the cart. Laughing Maybe it will be active soon enough.

The Devita Solar Block 30 just came in through the mail so it's off to testing it real quick.
