Thanks for the links and the info, EG! Carnosine is good for your skin, isn't it? |

I read that... but as a supplement mostly Guess I'll have to try it as a topical as well! |

I wrote a post in response to you fitgineer, and it's showing that the last poster on this thread was me, but when I go to it, my post isn't there and your post is the last one! How odd.
In my post I said: Meat is high in carnosine right? And that has an anti-glycation effect as well? |

I have lightened the skin under my eyes considerably with my routine, which is Vitamin C serum covered by Replenix Power of three serum(has lots of green tea in it, plus reseveratrol and caffiene). At night I use a DIY kinetin serum.
Hope this helps someone. |

I've had dark circles forever and it's got to be due to the underlying bone structure because as I've got older, the hollows have got deeper. I was really considering filler but I've been amazed by the huge improvement I've seen by using Obagi Clear, Blender and Retin A in that area.
When I've done Obagi Nu Derm before, I've always been too scared to use the products under my eyes but some of the posts on here persuaded me to give it a go this time. In the past, not using Nu Derm under the eyes just made the darkness and hollows stand out more in contrast to the clear, lighter skin on the rest of my face.
Anyway, this time I had to go through the under eye circles looking even worse - very, very red and dry for about 6 weeks but after that I started to see a real improvement. Now, after finishing 24 weeks on Obagi, my under eye darkness and the hollow look has improved so dramatically that I hardly have to wear any concealer - a first for me for at least 30 years!
As well as fading the darkness, the area looks smoother and the hollows have really plumped up. I'm continuing to use Obagi and Retin A under my eyes as part of maintenance and I've also just re-started using Revision Teamine again to alternate with Obagi, as it was the only thing previously that had done anything at all to help.
I hope this might help someone with the same issues. |

I have the same problem. Dark circles which are hereditary, hollow deep set eyes with a couple of veins showing through. The only product that has ever worked for me is Hylexin for dark circles to a point I dont have to wear a concealer. I ran out a couple of months ago but will be repurchasing. I normally use Hylexin first and then my normal eye cream. I'm currently trying a new eye serum to combat this problem + other aging issues minus the Hylexin for a bit. I've also been using Nanci's DNA serum (NCN Pro Skincare) for the past 6 months. It claims to plump up and fill out eye area, evens skin tone and firmness. I must admit I have been pleasantly surprised with this product. My under eye area is firmer, smoother, even toned and slightly plumper. Although I can still see the veins, there not as bad as before. |

Hi Ashes,
I am glad you mentioned this. I did try Hylexin and found it did seem to lighten my undereyes, too. Some eye serums have a hylexin product in them and are effective.
I always look for it when I am searching for a
new undereye cream.
Hopefully someone who is into DIY will give us the info on making a hyalexin eye product. |

Hello Alexya,
Funny you mention DIY. I was going through the EDS forum few months back and came across a recipe for dark circles. I haven't tried it myself yet but i did copy and paste it as to try it one day. Here it is:

OK. Here is a gift to all you dark circled eyed gals out there. You asked for something to get rid of dark circles - here is a homemade Circle Buster recipe.
Go to your grocery store. Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (Knox, for example)
Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1/4 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add 1/4 Tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute.
Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel.
Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.
I worked in a day spa & this was our "Circle Buster" Treatment. Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.
The day spa where I worked charged $60 for this treatment (but they put rose petals on your eyelids), and it wasn't until after I quit, that I found out what was in those little white packets!
There you go.....enjoy! |

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it and then if it doesn't help,in a week I'll drag out the really involved DIY .
I'll have to call in my formulating experts on that one, though, and maybe order some things... |

LOL ashes,
I have reposted that recipe for many on here and for a number it has worked well! The only type I doubt it will do that much for are the dreaded hereditary dark circles!
For those good concealer! |

It would be great if you could post your results.
I bought the unflavored Knox from Wallmart but never got the chance to put it to use. Since I have it I will try it myself for a week and see if it works. |

Hello DarkMoon,
Now that is funny! As you know I'm waiting for my package to arrive. In the meantime I will give this a go on my hereditary dark circles since I bought it up and for experimental purposes. |

It was for others ashes, I really don't have dark circles, those threads are over a year old so I would need to search for where they are, but people did use it and had results. It takes continued use after that first week, but you should see some improvement in that initial period! |

Dark circles below the eyes are quite normal, and the solution to the question may be as easy as thinking about yourself in the mirror. Skin Complexions, tone and tint usually are transferred by inherited genes, exactly like hair and the color of eyes. The treatment of the dark circles depends upon the suspected cause. Just like, when they seem to show up after waking up and ending of the day, it usually is caused by sleep position.
Colds as well as sinus bacterial contamination, which can cause a higher pressure within the bloodstream under the eyes, resulting in a short-term dark circle visual appearance.
I have experienced a number of different products but the products of Ultra Medic Laser Skin Studio for skin texture definitely the best! |

This is why im my 1st post I was hinting of a similar nature.
I feel its better to find the root of the issue, if I sleep on my back and other side the blood does not pool so badly and it does make a difference. But it maybe something related to the nose and septum, I have suffered from allergies and can hardly breath thru my nostrils I wonder if that is the root cause.
Either way like most have suggested if its hereditary, then creams and make up is the only option.
I guess u gotta find out or just pick one option to fix the Dark Circles. |

Hi RP3X,
Have you thought about using a decongestant and / or a sinus rinse? |

OMG, we've GOT TO DO sOMETHING about that erroneous gelatin for eyes recipe! It was posted years and years ago and was soon after corrected, but not before it travelled round the internet in its incorrect state.
That is WAY TOO MUCH gelatin and it'll come out hard as rock which is why so many have been disappointed by it. (by the way, love the person for posting, but why would anyone even write 1/4 tablespoon???)
I wonder if eds can do some kind of blanket correction? Although, its way too late now.
The recipe works brilliantly for me, but what you need is to dissolve just enough gelatin so that its still watery & runny. I've taken to ripping those disposable paper face masks into small pieces, soaking them, and placing them under my eyes so they stay wet for a while. Don't let it dry before removing though. |

Hi LoriA,
Are your black circles hereditary or just due to lack of sleep? I have hereditary ones, so I was wondering if this mask would work... |

Honestly, mine aren't bad at all and are usually due to lack of sleep. I find the gelatin brightens the area and the skin looks healthier after use.
In any case, it's an easy and inexpensive one to try and see if it works for you. Good luck finding your solution!
* I just want to add that you want the consistency to be watery & just a bit slimey. The problem with it being any thicker is that it can quickly dry like a egg-white mask and pinch/tightens the skin, which is exactly what you DO NOT want in that delicate area. I'd think it'd be harder for skin to absorb too. |

For injections around the eye, see an oculoplastic surgeon. He knows the anatomy of that area better than any other type of doctor. It might be more expensive but you won't be as worried about anything going wrong. |

There isn't much to be done to fix hereditary dark circles, but I have noticed being tan helps me. I have ivory to fair skin normally which makes the circles under my eyes really dark, but when ever I use tanner I notice the darkness of them is less noticeable from before. still on the search for the best organic tanner, I hate being fake but I hate my dark circles more. |
