Dr. J, does the serum help eliminate milia? I have had these tiny milia bumps at the base of my jawbone for I don't know how long and all of a sudden I was scratching at the area and it seems like I was able to scratch out the white bumps. I now have a red spot from where I've been scratching all day but I think the milia is gone. Is that from using the serum? |
Hey jom. Yes, we have seen this before. Milia are white bumps that form when skin cells become trapped into small cysts rather than exfoliated as they should. AnteAGE increases skin turnover (cell maturation) rate, which tends to push them closer to the surface as new cells form from underneath. Use an exfoliating cleanser, maybe with a scrubber, but stop scratching. (Did you sterilize your fingernails first?) Be patient, they will come off with a good scrub when then are ripe for harvest. |

As far as I know lots of things including cytokines have been tried to restore volume to the face of HIV patients. The results, if any, were minimal, fillers are still the only option. |
I'd like to see some evidence too. I had a couple of rounds of Sculptra, which is a standard treatment for facial wasting due to HIV. Can't say I saw any visible improvement. Although, like everything else - I think multiple treatments are needed to see a REAL difference. If a topical could produce similar results to multiple treatments of Sculptra, that would definitely be interesting. |

Thanks Dr. J, no I did not sterilize my fingernails (if there are any children reading please turn away I don't want to be a bad influence ). I'm not sure what made me pick at the area today, maybe the area has been looking a little different, but I am being punished because I went into the bathroom a little while ago and noticed that I now have a red welt in the area where I've been scratching. It feels a little swollen.
I am a true believer in your products. I have had that milia for years and no picking or exfoliating has done anything for it. I'm going to check out my undereye area a little more closely and see if the serum has done anything for the milia I have under my eyes. |

We haven't done full thickness cheek biopsies (they are painful) and its much easier to appreciate in 3D than 2D (because its rounding, not widening). I'll see if our video department has some. We have teras of video that needs editing. |

I just got home and did a careful inspection with a magnifying mirror and the milia are gone! I'm in absolute amazement! I'm a little bruised from all the scratching I did but I used an exfoliator on it and put some Neosporin on it in hopes that I don't get a scar so I'll see how it is in the morning. I'm so happy! Funny how little things like that can just elevate my mood!
Dr. J, I looked under my eyes and the milia I have there is different than the milia that was on my jawline. It's smaller and not elevated. It looks like it could be diminished a bit since I've been using the AnteAGE serum. I was wondering if there is something I can do to somehow exfoliate that area gently to try to push the milia out? I would not generally use an exfoliator scrub under my eyes but do you think this would help to get rid of the milia? Or what would you suggest? |

From my understanding Retin A & Copper peptides are okay with the anteage system.
Is it okay to still use AHA/BHA serum prior to applying anteage serum and accelerator?
Sorry I'm not sure if its been discussed as I'm concerned whether acids interfere with its use.

You can use an exfoliating scrub under your eyes. Just don't get any in them (I guess that goes without saying). A gentle facial exfol brush is OK too, just not too hard or long. You need to be patient. Plan for it to take a few weeks instead of a few hours.
Abundant TGF beta-3 in the serum should eliminate any tendency to scarring. |

Hi dionie. Welcome. I would suggest that you give the AHA/BHA serum a rest while you try AnteAGE. Not that you absolutely can't use them, but AnteAGE will do all they were doing and a lot more. There could be a skin pH (acidic) problem that could damage AnteAGE peptides if you use them too close together in time.
You can you both retinA and cu++peptides with AnteAGE, but again, there is overlap, so you will be duplicating efforts. Some of the cytokines in AnteAGE work on the same targets as Cu++peptides, and there is a retinoid in the accelerator. I know that a lot of people who use these products are actually afraid to stop them. If you are not too frightened of the idea, try the AnteAGE system alone for a few weeks; you can always add them back later if you e.g. want added retinol effects. Again, they are not incompatible, just overlapping.
Hope this helps. Some of the ladies here who have combined AnteAGE with their BFF products may want to comment also. |

Hi dionie, what are you thinking of in terms of a routine? I use Retin A and AHA's but at night only. And I only use the AnteAGE serum, I don't use the accelerator. Only in the morning. If it were me I would not use an AHA/BHA serum at the same time as the AnteAGE serum and accelerator. I do use an l-ascorbic acid C serum prior to applying the AnteGE serum in the morning and Dr. J has said that is OK. You might want to think about using the AnteAGE products in the morning only and use your other products at night.
ETA: Or better yet give up your other products and just do a trial of the AnteAGE products only. I keep thinking I'm going to do that but I'm still on the fence about it. |

Thank You for the advice. Right now my BFF products are my Retin A and LAA Vit C powder. So I may do a combination of both recommendations. Use my Vit C and then anteage serum and accelerator in the AM and then in the evening use the anteage serum and alternate nights with Retin A and the accelerator.
I may give up CPs and AHA/BHAs for now as I would like to trial twice a day. I can change it if it doesn't feel right. I just can't give up my Retin A right now as its done wonders for my breakouts. But as for exfoliation my clarisonic will do for now.

Well, it looks like I am going to be the first person that has to bail on using Ante AGE.
I have 4 new pimples on various places on my face today, and that is sooo not the norm for me at all. (The only other time I have experienced something like this is when I used the Remergent products years ago) I am prone to PIH and am not willing to risk having brown spots on my face for very long periods of time, so I am going to stop for now and let my skin get back to it's usual state with my usual products.
Then maybe I'll give it another try in the future with the remainder of my product, and see if it happens again.
Best of luck to everyone else continuing their product usage...I will jealously be reading and watching for your results! |

Did you try the serum alone bethany? I would suspect the accelerator, as it is closer to a cream. Pimples often have an inflammatory component (certainly adult acne does). We have had many reports of acne-like pimples resolving with the serum alone. |

I stopped using the Accelerator on my face as previously discussed, and these new ones could be due to the prior usage. But right now I just need to get the pimple production stopped asap and my skin stabilized, so I am stopping both.

Are you doing anything in particular to get them under control? Is anything new going on in the hormone department (i.e. could your levels be changing for any reason?) |

So sorry it isn't working out for you Bethany.
I am having great results with just the serum alone once a day. Last night I used an exfoliating scrub under my eyes to see if I could get rid of the milia I have there and this morning most of the milia is gone. I am in amazement over these results. I have had that milia for years and now it is almost completely gone. My skin is clearer and my undereye are looks better too. |

I am basically just stopping anything new and spot treating with SA.
The Cure exfoliator is the only other new product I am really using (2x week), and I have been washing afterwards to make sure there is no film left on my skin. And nothing new in the hormone department (that I am aware of anyway, lol).
My guess/hope is that the Accelerator is the culprit, and hopefully I can go back on just the serum when things calm down. |

I saw your results a few posts up...great news, though your reminder is just making me feel worse that I can't use them right now, lol. |

Sorry, give it a week then get back to just using the serum. |

Hi Kath91, hard to tell If hydration is the issue, get that stabilized first (many choices), then pick a good anti-aging serum and stick with it[/quote]
DrJ waa right.
The new cleanser I was using was drying my skin out. I really didn't know the term 'chicken skin' meant little bumps. I NEVER had little bumps. (My skin has always been very clear and soft) I was really thinking of the little scribbly lines I've seen on chicken LEGS. (What do I know, I'm a vegetarian.)
My skin looked shockingly dry with the accelerator and serum on it.
And 'pruny' referred to my visual as Dr J said an improper 'oil and water combination' which I attribute to the new cleanser I had been using (Johnson & Johnson, Purpose)
I loved the ingredients concoction of the Anteage accelerator and gut instinct preferred NOT to return it; I changed cleansers instead.
Have NEVER stopped using the Anteage accelerator and, yes, Lifeline serum, religiously, every night.
(with a moisturizer) (though, wish I could find a good 'matrix-maintainer' one.)
-ing my skin. |

Kath,
Purpose is supposed to be gentle and recommended for usage with Retin A, but I also had major issues with it when I tried it many years ago. I'm glad you found something that worked better for you! |

Just interested to know why you are using both AnteAGE and Lifeline. Isn't this overkill - at least on your wallet? |
