Has anyone found a solution to the breakouts? I love this massage but I always get at least 4 huge painful cysts along my lymph path- my jawline, temples, my hairline (luckily a lot get hidden there).
I've tried: massaging with gel cleanser instead of oil, blood-cleansing herbs like red clover and burdock, and my blue light tanda. The tanda helps them go away much faster, but it doesn't prevent them from appearing.
Makes me sad because I can really see the difference with massage. My boyfriend can, too, which is my gold standard for if something works or not. |
Same here. I had to cut my massage to only twice a week. I also have to wash and tone my face both before and after the massage.
I wish i could do it more often, but it's better than nothing |

Hi! I've been doing this message and love it.
Has anyone else notice that Tanaka and the model does the eye message part differently? Which one should I be following? |

Tanaka goes from the outside corner of the eye towards the inner corner and up and out towards the the temple, then without lifting her fingers and maintaining skin contact, she moves towards the inside of the eyes and then back out holding three seconds before flushing it down the neck.
The model does the first part the same moving towards the temple, but then releases her fingers to start from the inside of the eyes and move out.
Yikes I think that was confusing...What I mean is Tanaka does everything while maintaining skin contact with the model seems to divide it into two parts.. |

Not confusing at all. Must check out like cm5597, or just simply try to see a difference after trying! |

I did this yesterday and today and it feels so nice! I think I'm going to love this.
How do you all apply your cream or oil? Do you put it all over your face first or just have it on your fingers, and keep dipping your fingers? And if you put it on your face first, do you need to reapply? I am just wondering how much "slip" is necessary.
I just a used a cheap Vit C night cream that I got from TJ Maxx a while back. I put it on my face first, but then dipped my fingers in a couple of times when it felt like it dried. Then I used a damp warm microfiber cloth to wipe it off when I was done with the massage. I have read of people having breakouts so that's why I wiped it off, and that's also the reason I don't want to use an oil. |

I was so stunned about the results of this, I put pinned it, on pinterest. And I think one of my friends is mocking me for being gullible. She reposted but I think to be funny. I have had friends laugh hysterically when I told them I do face exercises. They think I am joking.
(Perhaps I will take it down. Keep it to myself. I posted the pin that has a photo of Tanaka herself, that says she is 63 years old)
Am I mistaken about Tanaka having instructions to do this for the whole body? I thought I saw a dvd in another language..
If not, I am thinking perhaps the same principles could be applied..find the lymph pathways and push "stuff" into it!
Right now I use the trampoline for that, but this would be a bonus. |

I would love to try Tanaka Massage, but i'm afraid now because of reading this forum. There are so many complaints from ladies about getting pimples + a thinn(er) face. Is there anyone who's actually still doing this and can report me some positive results? So that i'm convinced to give it a try? |

For what it's worth, we've had this problem for the last 30 years.
Usually, younger than us, older looking than us people. Often people that just don't get until they see long term results.
No worries. You just develop yet thicker skin.
Pun intended! |

I've been doing it for a little over a month and love it. I do notice it's been helping to slim my face, but I'm looking for that though because I'm about 50 pounds overweight. If I notice it becoming too thin as I lose weight, I'll cut back on it. But I love the way it makes me feel: pampered, softens my skin, my nasolabial lines seems softer and my double chin is firming up (that may also be because of my facial exercises, too).
But this past week I was lucky if I got in 3-4 massages because I have been physically exhausted from doing heavy yardwork. So I've noticed my lines look not as soft as when I do it daily. I'll get back to that now that the yard work is pretty much done.
And I noticed that the people who say they broke out are usually the ones that use oil for the massage. Once they switched to a lotion it stopped. Although, I use just a bit of virgin coconut oil and have no breakout problems.
All in all, I highly recommend this massage. |

I tried it yesterday, before i went to bed.(thanks sandooch, your positive feedback helped me)I quite liked the relaxed feeling it gave me.I always tense the muscles in my face (especially in the forehead)Well, The proper way to describe the feeling the massage gave me is relieved i think.
I tried it with my favorite creamy lotion from P.B! So yeah, pretty positive i am. (didn't got any pimples btw ) |

I've been doing Tanaka for over a month, and just recently started doing it with the OCM. But I don't know if I like doing the Tanaka with the OCM oils. It seems like it's way too much slip. Especially on the massages for the nasal labial-the ones where you push up with the soft part of your thumb. I can't get any grip at all.
Does anyone else think oils have too much slip with Tanaka? Before, I was doing Tanaka with some face creams I had. They were drying up a little too quickly so I added just a little EVOO and it seemed to work well. I may go back to doing that for the massage, and just do OCM separately. |

Happy new year, everyone!
After doing 2 months+ of Tanaka's massage together with a non-resistance program called "Faceworks". My face looks much better than previously when I was doing resistance program alone. My face is much softer and feminine while the tight, bulky and "surprised" look is totally gone!!! The hollow cheeks as a result of the resistance program have been improved by 70- 80%. The harsh lines around my mouth as well as the n/l folds start to soften out. During a X'mas party, my friend, who thought that I started to look like an actress with a bad facelift surgery in Sept, told me that now I look normal and pretty again. It was such a HUGE relief!
I'm more than pleased with the results from Tanaka's massage and can't thank Critic enough for generously sharing and recommending the massage technique with us. This is truly one of the best things I find here at the EDS forum. (and it doesn't cost me a cent!!!) Hope more members will benefit from this fabulous massage technique in the coming new year!!!
As I've been doing a few facial programs for more than a year ( Flexeffect, Ageless, Faceworks and Tanaka) , it is very excited to finally find something that works so well for me and reverse side effects from resistance program within a short period of time. For any end-users who're interested to see my progress photos, please PM me with your email address and I will gladly send you some of my photos!!! |
I must agree here. I have been doing Tanaka and Faceworks and love them. Tried Carol Maggio for almost a year .....did nothing too much imagination involved and I couldn't feel the difference I wanted. |

would you please tell us what is Faceworks? I've been doing Tanaka almost 2 months now. My BF told me I became pretty after two weeks. However, I can't see any improvement after first month now but will keep doing for a longer period and see the results |

Hi. Faceworks is an internet programme. I think it cost around £13/£14 per year or you can buy the CD.
I heard of it through this forum. I didn't take any before and after pic's - I can see and feel the difference. I also use a dermaroller 05. weekly and 1.0 monthly and think they help.
Good luck with whatever programme you choose to do. I think it's just getting the tie to do it regularly. |

I met up with Critic this week and now I'm back on the Tanaka wagon! I'm totally blown away by how young she looks and her skin.
Critic had kindly showed me her pics about 3 years back. When I met her this week, she looks Younger now than before! She looks like she is in her 20s, with gorgeous glowing skin. She has no dark eye circles... I'm still in shock....
Critic skin is even Better than the model on the old tanaka videos (hers has a gorgeous glow to it ). To me, her skin is exactly like the tanaka model when she was interviewed by Jessica michibata!! Check out that on you tube!!! |

I have bought the 2nd Tanaka massage book with DVD, I have not watched the DVD. The new book is added more techniques for :
1. Different age group (20, 30, 40, 50 & 60)
2. Different face shape
3. Different problems (dark eye circles, saggy, double chin, NL lines etc)
I found the new techniques are quite useful.
I am still doing it twice a day, I will usually massage for 10 mins instead of 3, because I found it very comfortable and I've added the pressing techniques to get rid of eye bags and dark circle.
Another tips is: it's better to massage after bathing, if not, the 2nd Tanaka book has recommended to use a facial steamers at the same time or at least use a hot towel to cover your face and neck before massaging. |
