I'M CONFUUUUUSED!

Okay, I want to start using 2 products and they are:

(1) Laura Mercier Skin Illuminating Brightener
-to even out skin tone
-fade freckles
-fade acne marks
I'd use it in the daytime since it has spf 15.

(2) Jergen's Natural Glow in Light
-self tanner
I'd use this at night.

In essence, using these two at once seems ironic. One is for lightening and the other is for darkening. Rolling Eyes It seems like three different things could happen and I don't know which is true...

1. I end up with even-toned, tan skin! This exactly what I want to happen!!!

2. I end up tanner, but in turn, darken the pigment I want to lighten.

3. I end up lightening dark pigment and get no tan.

Somebody please predict the future for me!

Should I hold off on the self tanner until I achieve the results I want from the brightener?

This is my prediction based on my experience with the Laura Mercier Illuminating Brightener and St Tropez: You put your self tan on and have a tan by the morning. Then you put your Brightener on and by the evening you are pale again. They cancel each other out.

Isn't this just sod's law!!
You find 2 good products that completly clash with each other, I am facing the same problem using Dove Holiday Glow lotion on my legs.......I use exfoliating gloves on them every day!!

i actually use a illuminating serum in the morning and a self tanner for the face in the evening (twice a week) and have had no problems with the tan fading. I think the way the essence works in terms of evening out skin tone (due to excess sun exposure in my case) doesn't affect the self tanner because the self tanner doesn't cause melanin to be produced, and the serum actually breaks melanin down. Exfoliating the skin is different, that will cause your tan to fade because it's getting rid of the layer of skin that you have just tanned.

I always go to a tanning parlor for a few sessions before I go on a 'sun and beach' vacation. That way, I won't get bad sunburns. I don't know if self-tanner will do the tricks.
