Does anyone know of a good, and I mean good makeup primer that I don't need to wear make up with. I would kind of like my face to look as poreless as it does when I wear Dr. Hauchkas rejuvenating mask in a very thin layer. I was looking at perfekt primer but for 50 bucks want to make sure there isn't something out there better. Thanks a lot |

you should check reviews on Makeupalley
I heard that NARS has a really good primer. I bought Primer from Makeup forever, but i wouldnt recommend it. It is way too oily for the summer time. |

I don't use primer myself (although I probably should), but my sister uses Smashbox primer and really likes it. I think I've seen other good reviews for it as well. |

I looked at a thread about using monistat chafing gel, but I can't find it anywhere. Checked good ole wally world and rite aid and cvs, and can't find it. All I can find is yeast infection stuff, and knock on wood don't need that. |

on MUA, the good reviews belong to MAC primer, Jane Iredale, Sephora skin smoothing makeup base, and Smashbox photo-finish foundation primer... just to name a few. |

The best that I have EVER used is Peter Thomas Roth's Mattifying primer, also Cle de peau (in the stick form) is awesome as well. I highly recommend PTR, gives you poreless looking and matte skin. |

I never really used any primer before? what does it do? Does the makeup base count as primer? |

Smashbox now has a primer with SPF - they use Titanium Dioxide. I'm always happy to add more SPF, been using it and it works well! |

Gina, is the peter thomas roth primer called a primer or is it their matte moisturizer? |

Sorry, forgot to add, I would really like to make my face look as poreless as it does when I use Dr. Hauchkas rejuvenating mask. If I put a very thin layer it looks almost flawless, and I was just wondering how the peter thomas primer would compare to that seems I cannot use the mask during the day and wouldn't anyway. Thanks so much everyone. |

I've seen silicone hair finishers compared to Smashbox primers. I use one I got at Walmart, says you can use it on your skin. Only takes a tiny dab, and smells wonderful. Definitely makes makeup glide on, and does not look greasy. At this rate this small bottle will last forever.
I apply and wait 10 minutes before makeup. |

Okay I know this sounds gross and I haven't tried it (chicken), but alot of people swear by Monistats Soothing Chafe Cream as a primer. One m/u artist that I know uses it on all her clients, but she puts it in a different bottle first. She says it makes MMU look like silk on the skin, this coming from someone who does not like MMU. |

Razinkane, forgot to add that I have tried the primer from Perfekt, it is O.K., but I do prefer the PTR to it. |

chafing cream for primer? well if people put hemaroid cream to de-puff eyes, then why not?! |

Actually, I've tried this with the Vit. C to make the serum, and it has a very nice, smooth feel to it. I don't see why it wouldn't work well as a primer |

Yes, I also heard Monistat Chafing Gel, as it contains the same core ingredients and is said to be better and cheaper than products on the market marketted as a primer.
You can send away for a sample of it here:
http://www.monistat.com/soothingcare/request_sample_buffer.htm
I actually learned this from the forums at http://www.iceelements.com in case you want to check out the discussion there... I think it is under Ask Brenda. |

we have a new primer on sale in Japan called "Skin Laminate Everkeep Base". It is meant to form an invisible mask on your skin throughout the day to stop you foudation from vanishing due to sweat and sebum. Also holds in moisture and stops it from crumbling. (from morning to night so it says) It is also SPF30 PA++
There is also a base moisturizer for evening texture or something. I was tempted to buy the Everkeep Base but it was around $20 and no tester or sample there, so baulked. I might go back for another look-see. |
