My daughter just had a facial. Murad products were recommended to her. She did not purchase anything as she wanted me to find out more about the line. She is prone to breakouts. The facialist felt that she washes and exfoliates her skin too much causing over stimulation of oil glands. I would appreciate any feedback on the Murad line. Thanks |

I also am prone to breakouts. I tried the Murad Clarifying Mask (for problem skin) and the Murad Pure Skin Clarifying Supplements (for problem skin). Neither product did anything for me. In fact, I was so disappointed in the mask that I took it back for a refund after trying it out 3 times. I took all of the supplements (1 tab, 2 X a day, for a month) and decided it was a waste of money so I didn't repurchase. I haven't tried any of the other products, though. |

I used the Murad acne line for 6 weeks. It made me breakout even more. I figured that it was the purging process...but after 6 weeks and still purging? I gave up. I'm currently using Juice Beauty (the cleanser, blemish serum and green apple peel). My skin is looking better now. |

I liked the pomegranate treatment (the candy cane looking one) - I'm not sure what this did for my skin but I still did like it They also have a nice vitamin C cleanser and a great tinted sun block (Oil-Free Sunblock Sheer Tint) that has a very light gel like texture that sinks right into the skin. Now, I'm not breakout prone but I think the sunblock should be fine for her. |

I've had bad luck with Murad. The acne products did not help me, and once I took a sample of the pomegranate SPF 15 face lotion with me on a trip. As soon as I put it on my face started burning and turning red. Mind you, I do have sensitive skin, but I ended up having tow ash my face and start all over again. |

When I was about 16 years old I had moderate acne. I remember trying everything, including a big boxed set of Murad Acne treatment (I don't remember the exact name). Luckily I was able to return it and that's what I did. It definitely didn't help, if anything it made my skin worse. Granted that was over five years ago and they may have changed the formulas and products but they also may not have. I do have one Murad product that I like, the Combination Skin Formula. However my skin is clear today so there's no telling how it would perform on acne prone skin. Overall I think it may be best to try something else for your daughter. The women who recommended it probably sold Murad, and would recommend whatever it was she happened to be selling. |

Because I have a hard time using BP, I do use Murads Spot Clearing Gel (not sure if that is the correct name). It is a sulphur based product and really helps with my occasional breakouts, cystic acnes too! Good luck Winnie!! |

I agree with you 100%. Not saying Murad is not a good line but I told my daughter I would post on EDS first to see members results and opinions. If I am correct she probably would have spent $250.00 if purchased the day of the facial. Been there, done that. I will have to check EDS salon to see if they have a sample kit of the products that were recommended to her. If she really wants to try them I will be a nice Mom and purchase them for her. Better yet, I think she should become a member of EDS. I have never had a problem with breakouts but something tells me IS Clinical might be a good choice for her. |

I used the Murad Acne kit 4 years ago, for about a year, and it really cleared up my skin. I can't remember if I got bored and tried something new, or if it was just too pricey... but I did like it.
Now I'm trying to use more DIY and natural products (with good and bad results). I don't know if I would go back to Murad.
The line that I had the BEST results with though was Somme Institute which I started using 2 years ago for about a year before I got sucked into Prescriptives by an SA.

It's pricey (though not as bad as a lot of the lines I've learned about here!), but it really helped me with both breakouts and skin tone etc. It's a 5 part system, but I didn't use their cleanser or sunscreen.
I've actually started using their exfoliating BHA/AHA pads called Transport again. |

I tried the WHOLE Murad acne care products after the advice of a Dr. Well I stuck w/ it for 6 weeks, I kept thinking it was the purging process as well. What I did not like is my skin felt sticky and almost like my pores were clogged with soap and cleansers. It did not rinse well. Always felt like I needed to wash my face. So after 6 weeks, I stopped. Boy even know my face went back to just "okay" it was better than what it felt like using Murad. I do not reccomend! |

I have tried many Murad products, most of them I really liked. I always repurchase the Pomegranate Cleanser, serum (the candy-cane one). I also really like the collagen builder supplements , hths. |

Yes - I like A, C and D. Haven't tried B. The eye cream is my favorite SPF eye cream. The cleanser is really nice and the moisturiser is good too (though not spectacular). I wouldn't rely on those to give you enough vit C concentration but I thought they were nice products. |

Hi Mabsy, after applying Essential-C Day Moisture SPF 15, I found a lot of white stuff comes off my face. They are not easy to get away and they goes into my hair too! I tried to apply the moisturizer alone on my hand and no white stuff coming out. Do you think the Essential-C Daily Renewal Complex that causes the problem? |

Ocha - it sounds like you're getting one of those products balling up on your skin. First, make sure that you are not using too much of either product. Second, eliminate the Daily Renewal Complex one day and just use the moisturiser by itself and see what happens. HTH |

Hi Mabsy, I tried this morning skipping the Daily Renewal Complex... no white stuff coming out and no itchy and tingling sensation either. Thanks for your help. |

I'm 41 years old, had acne as a teen but didn't start breaking out again until I stopped taking BCP about 6 years ago. Over the last 10 years I've tried Murad, drugstore brands and ProActive and finally came back to Murad the last year and I'm staying!
I can honestly say after using this, my skin is much better! Still oily, but no blackheads and the occassional zit are all I have to deal with. I tell myself that at Least I don't have as many wrinkles as I could...
Products used in the AM
Clarifying Cleanser
AHA Exfoliating scrub
Clarifying Toner
Switch between Acne Exfoliating Treatment Gel and Acne Moisturizing Treatment Lotion
Skin Perfecting Lotion
SPF 15 sunscreen
In the PM, I use Pomegranate cleanser to wash off the makeup, Clarifying Toner and Night REform Treatment.
I always use Essential C eyecream in the AM and PM.
Results are good except the only thing I don't like about Murad is it leaves my face so shiny! |

I recently got a facial done and I was also referred to Murad products (it was a mix of Murad and Dr Renaud products). My face at the time was quite oily and pretty prone to break-outs (my skin is normally sensitive and reactive). So I ordered the face wash from EDS. Now that I've been using it for a few weeks, my acne is slowly going away, but I've noticed that I'm starting to go lightly red around my nose and cheeks again (likely from the product).
The spa did give me a sample which had the face wash, moisterizer and spot treatment. Maybe getting 2-3 packs of those for your daughter might give her 2 weeks or so of trying Murad out to see if it's best for her. |

Regarding Murad's acne line, I think most products are find, except the night treatment. It's too irritating. But I do like their clarifying cleanser. |

I tried their Vit C day cream and oil free moisturiser and I thought they were really fab.
Very light, greaseless, immediate softening effect. Would purchase them again. |

Murad was recommended to me too the last time I had a facial ... funny thing was, I don't usually break out now as much as I did in high school, but was very stressed at the time (I just finished writing a big exam, so I decided it was time for a facial) and had broken out quite a bit. I did end up buying some products from EDS afterwards ...
Murad Clarifying Skin Cleanser
Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion, ACNE
Murad Moisturizing Acne Treatment Gel
I found all the products to be really strong on my face. The cleanser I only use now from time to time ... I like the tingly feeling it gives, but I have to wash it off almost instantly.
I was never crazing about the lotion - the area around my nose (my sensitive zone) got really dry after a few weeks of use.
The Acne Gel - wasn't bad. I still use it from time to time. The esthetician also recommended Laboratoire Dr Renaud Intervention Fluid Base - which is an oil-free moisterizer. I found it was quite nice ... except that it was a little too light for November (due to the cold). Now that I think of it, I should take it out and give it a try on a hotter day.
(note - I have sensitive skin) |
