I recently received some samples of Skinceuticals Eye Cream - New Formulation. After reading it's product description a while back I thought it sounded like a miracle creme of sorts so I was very eager to try it out.
It is a very light unscented creme which absorbs very quickly under the eye.
A little background:
I am 34 with normal/combination skin and have several fine lines and dark circles. I like my eye area to look moisturized and have the appearance of fine lines minimized as much as possible.
I read a review a while back where a member talked about an eye cream she was trying. In short, I believe she had said she didn't have a problem with puffiness under her eyes but that the product she tried treated a variety of items including reducing puffiness. When she used it the product seemed to "depouf" her eyes. Unfortunetly I had the same reaction to this cream.
My eye area almost looked worse after I put the cream on it. :(It immediately looked dried out and red. I don't usually have any problems with skin sensitivities so I thought this was unusual.
I loved the texture of this cream and was really hopeful about it but it just wasn't right for me. I am however passing it along to a coworker who does have undereye puffiness and will see if she finds it effective.
I am now using a sample of Valmont's eye and lip contour and so far am loving it! |

Hi Trinka,
Thanks for your review of this product. I've noticed that Skinceuticals have just had a 'face-lift' and have changed their packaging.
It sounds like your eye area had a reaction to this product if it occurred immediately upon application, perhaps you're sensitive to some of the ingredients in the complex. I was wondering if you have the list of ingredients there please? I think it was a good move you passed it on to someone else to use !
Also, did the Skinceuticals samples come in a tube or a sachet? The reason I ask is that I have found samples which come in sachets, such as the Dermalogica Total Eye Care to be different to the actual product-- the consistency in the sample is somewhat different, it's not as thick and true to the product when dispensed from the tube, so I don't like (or trust) samples that come in a sachet, especially not ones as small as the Dermalogica's. On the other hand, samples such as the Valmont Contour Cellular Eye & Mouth Cream in the tube is definitely true to product, you know that you're sampling the mini version (BTW, the consistency of the Valmont is how I love my eye creams!)
I have only used one product from the Skinceuticals line, the Ultimate UV Defense SPF30 which I love and will be a staple in my skincare for a looong time. I'm will also be using their Vit C system in the wintertime (change of season-name to go with it maybe:P)

Unfortunately there wasn't a list of ingredients on the tube so I'm not sure what it might be that I had an allergic reaction to. But you're absolutely right. I must be sensitive to something in the formulation.
Not much info on their website either. Hmmm.
But my coworker really likes the creme. She says it makes the skin under her eyes very soft and is very effective for firming and reducing puffiness.
Thanks for the tube vs. sachet info. I never would have gave that a second thought!
Good info to know!
Many thanks for all of your help! |
