I'm 28 y/o and had bad acne as a teenager. I'm getting married in a few months and would like to significantly lighten or totally eradicate these spots. I've been suffering with the spots for years, they cover just about every inch on my face. I have to wear concealer, foundation and powder just to appear normal. I'd like to be able to go natural or at least wear less makeup. Currently, I'm using Vantex by Fashion Fair (2% hydroquinone) but it doesnt seem to be working as well or as fast as I expected. I purchased a TCA kit but now I think that was a mistake. What should I be using that is really effective? I need to save money due to the wedding so I'm looking for something fairly reasonable that I can do at home. PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

Hi, i have heard of some concealers which lighten as you conceal, dhc has one here http://www.dhccare.com/DHC/ProductDetail.aspx?CS_ProductID=184&CS_Catalog=DHC%20USA . the problems with dhc is that their colors are very light, since they cater to asians. i am sure other concealers exist that whiten also. i would try shiseido's lucent bright line for an overall brightening effect. i am not too familiar with very strong products for lightening but know a natural remedy such as lemon juice can significantly lighten spots as it does hair. hope this helps some!

hi there... from what i have learnedd from my derm, dar skin people have a tendency to scar more (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation). anyways, genetically, i have fairly dark skin and he suggested a series of peel or microderm for me. he said that whiteming product might result in uneven skin tone (patches of light skin and patches of black skin). this makes sens, i think.
so saying that, and since you want to save money, why dont you try juice beauty green apple peel?
i used to go get microderm since it got expensive, i started using juice beauty and it has been wonderful. do a search on it in the forum and you will find a lot of good reviews.

Hi futuremrsbryn,
I would place my bets on the regenerating powers of retinol. Philosophy's Help Me has a 12% concentration and is not extremely expensive.
