Hi la vie en rose-
I just got a facial-flex a couple of weeks ago.
I did a search on "facial-flex instructions" and came up with several sites.
One site under facial-flex reads: "instructions for Use" for more details...(this one will give you all the basic information you need).
I also found "alternate exercise instructions" under facial-flex which looks quite interesting. HTH.

Winnie, or anyone else that is familiar with the facial-flex- do these alternate exercises look good & worth a try?

Good luck with the Facial Flex. I swear by it!!! The main thing is CONTROL. I am probably repeating myself (sorry). Use a lot of visualization. Try picturing the resistance when you squeeze back in. Also when releasing do not let the Facial Flex release completely as you will lose the your control over it. I try to flex to a count of 60 in one minute then repeat 4 X's. Please start with 60 X 2 (2 minutes)2 X's a day. I hope I am making sense. Please PM me if I can help. If your face does not feel fatigued either you are not doing it right or you need to up the band weight. I still only use #8 and concentrate on control. You will soon pass using #6. Down the road if you like you can put two 6's on the Flex and get a 12 weight. I find the mirror my best friend when doing the exercise.

One more thing. Laughing Cup you lips over your teeth. I like to keep my upper and lower lip area nice and firm while flexing. HTH

Hi Winnie
I found the site yesterday, its:
http://www.facialconcepts.com/newsite/altexercise.htm
I tried bringing up the search right now & couldn't find it, but when I typed in the address from what I printed yesterday, it comes up. Type in the above address, it should get you there, if not, pm me & I'll send you the instructions. Please let us know what you think of these exercises.

Thank you. Smile I tried putting the Facial Flex in my mouth going the other way and it did not fit. It actually was uncomfortable on my jaw trying it. Perhaps I am reading it wrong (need pictures). Wink For those of you just starting out I would stick with the directions that come with your Facial Flex. The traditional way does a great job. The owner of the company from time to time is on QVC. I have only seen it demoed one way.

Winnie before I hit the "Buy Now" button at eBay, can you confirm if Facial Flex has tightened up your entire face, or just the jawline/neck area? Also, how long before you start noticing results and how long have you been using it continuously? (I think I remember reading yonks ago that you'd stopped using it at one time Confused )
Thanks!

I estimate I have been using the Facial Flex for 1 1/2 years. The Facial Flex has kept my face very firm for a woman my age. The most dramatic results in firmness are the neck and jawline. My cheeks are not saggy at all. I really can't say that is do to the FF. I did stop using it for around 4 months as I had so much going on in my life I actually did not care how I looked. When the stress was over, I noticed that I had this loose skin from below my chin starting down my neck. My husband called it a gully Bad Grin At that point I starting using the FF again. I have continued using it daily for 3 months. The area of my neck that was aging is gone. I noticed an improvement after two weeks of use. It does not address above the cheeks.

If I had to say who would notice the most dramatic results I would say woman who actually have slight sagging. For those that are younger I hope it will prevent sagging. All I know is it worked for me and continues to do so. After all the money I have spent on skin care I feel the FF is cheap as it lasts.

If you buy it Anya I hope you like it as much as I do. If you don't care for it or pack it away in a drawer at least it is not spending hundreds of dollars. How much is it on Ebay? I paid under $30.00 on QVC.

Winnie, thanks soooo much for the added information. Since we both use and love JB products and both in the mature skin category, I respect your opinion Very Happy
FF costs between $36 and $38 USD on eBay - cheaper than buying direct from their own site. So far it's not featured on the Canadian shopping channel, so I'm limited to eBay. My jawline and neck are OK (thanks to a lower facelife some 13 years ago!!), although additional firming wouldn't hurt!
I'm so desparately trying to get rid of the "marionette lines".... and if I manage that, I'll be delirious with joy Very Happy Which of course begs the question, do you think it will diminish those lines? This area of the face needs something more drastic than just skin treatments/cream.
Thanks again Winnie Very Happy

marionette? You mean nasal labial folds right? I believe the FF has kept those lines on me to the minimal. Actually, my marionette lines are 50% improved compared to two years ago. I consider myself lucky that I found products that work well for me. Of course most of you know what they are. Wink My face is small and got drawn looking. In my case the FF seemed to have build up my facial muscles so my face appears wider and therefore the nasal labial folds are not very noticable. When I really want to look snazzy I use Lauren Huttons Disc (light reflector) on those lines and bingo I look the best I can for my age. Guess that is all I can ask as any form of surgery, fillers or Botox is out of the question for me.

Please, after using the FF for a couple of weeks let me know what you think. Remember: 2X's a day for 2 minutes and CONTROL. Try to do it in front of your mirror. Smile

Shock How old do you think that woman is? I just returned from the mirror to take a good look. The corners of my mouth turn down a tad but I don't have any folds yet.
Her lower cheek and jawline looks saggy. I am not an expert but believe exercise would tone the jaw, cheek area and the lines would deminish. To what degree I don't know Question

Mine aren't as bad as that image thank goodness, but I'd imagine with FF and an overall tightening of the jaw/chin area it should diminish these lines. Aww heck its only a few bucks.......... me/presses the "Buy Now" button Very Happy

I just bought a Facial Flex also (based on Winnie's raves!) I've used it 2x so far and boy is my face sore! This last time I only managed to do 7 reps in the first minute, and 9 reps in the second minute (with a rest in-between).

I can't imagine how I'm supposed to do 60-80 reps in 2 minutes Shock

That is quite normal in the beginning. I actually forgot how hard it was then as it was so long ago. The good news is it shows you that you need some muscle work on your face. I believe you will be delighted. Please, listen to your face and stop when your face gets fatigued and your can't Flex in. This tell you your face is tired. You will be at the full workout before you know it. Smile Be sure you are starting with the lightest bands: #6.

Thanks for your encouragement, Winne. Now I don't feel like such a wuss Laughing Right now, I'm only doing the exercises once a day (for 2 minutes, resting between each minute). I thought I would go to 2x a day when the exercises stopped making me sore. I'm increasing reps each day, but now I'm wondering if it's more important to used the FF 2x a day than increasing the reps at this point? What do you think, Winnie? (I do have occasional TMJ problems and want to be careful -- so far so good, knock wood! I know you said it wasn't a problem for your TMJ.)

The Facial Flex came with a band already on it. I didn't think to check but after reading your post I checked and I do think it is the #6 Smile

Do you know how many Flex's you do in a minute? I find that is most important. I do 60 flex in 1 minute. Whe I go slower I do not get the results.

The way you are doing it sounds fine. Why stress your TMJ's. Soon your mucles will be stronger and you will be doing it twice a day.

60 reps in a minute? Shock The most I've done is 11 reps in a minute (tht is an improvement from the 6-7 reps I did the first time! I've used the FF 4 times so far).

I'm holding/pausing at the end of each rep -- should I not be? The instructions read: Be sure to fully compress Facial-flex and momentarily continue the pressure even after you have reached the compressed limit of the device.

I realized in the middle of doing the exercises last night that I had forgotten to rinse with warm water to lubricate. It makes a big difference! Rolling Eyes

Winnie, do you always apply moisturizer on your face, chin, and neck before using the Facial-Flex?

I very rarely apply a moisturizer before using the FF. I do the exercises when it is convenient.

Please don't let me overwhelm you stating I do 60 flex in a minute. I have been using this device for a long time. I no longer have the directions. You will learn what works best for you. Take it nice and slow.

Thanks, Winnie. I don't feel overwhelmed -- just encouraged. Smile But yes, I think slow and steady is the key for me in building up the # of Flexes. I'll just have to tame my eagerness for immediate results!

huh??? you're supposed to rinse???

anyways, thank you all -- especially Winnie!!! i've been doing this for a little over a week and i swear i can already see a difference. my face is still chubby so i still have the deepest dimples known to mankind, but somehow my face seems more "sculpted." double chin (which really wasn't that bed) is receeding into nothingness and cheeks are more prominent (like if you put a dark powder in the hollow). this is in only a WEEK! granted, i've definitely lost weight this past week because it's just too f^&%$£@ hot to eat, but i still think the difference in my face has to do with this ugly little white device which i've dubbed the iMouth Laughing (we're a macintosh household). i'm quite pleased, really, and never would have gotten it without Winnie's persistance. even if it doesn't effect the top part of my face, what it's doing for the lower and mid section is nothing short of amazing. i look forward to even more sculpting in the future.

so anyone on the fence about this, i must agree with Winnie -- go out and get this NOW!

I just wanted to post about my experiences with facial-flex.

I have a super fat face. It's round and chubby, and that's just where my body has decided to store it's extra fat apparently. So when facial-flex first came out a long time ago, I jumped on it right away.

I used it for about 6 months before I gave up on it. Here's what I found:

A. If you're looking for a more toned/firm/muscular face then it works.

B. However, if you're looking for a smaller face, then it doesn't work.

I was looking to make my face smaller. I was looking to burn the fat off my cheek and chin area -- from jolly Claus to skinny elf -- resulting in a size reduction. And in this facial-flex didn't work. In fact, my face actually GOT LARGER, because it was looking so muscular. Like I was a cow that chewed cud with huge facial muscles.

I no longer think that targetting one area for size reduction works anymore. Like if I just work on my butt, or thighs, or face. I think you have to run or swim and lose weight as a whole.

So in the end I stopped with facial-flex.

Also, even if you're not looking for size reduction, but just more muscle/toned appearance -- I think you could do a lot of things that are less expensive than facial-flex. This is gross, but shows how far I was willing to go for a smaller face. I used to go to my local wholesale club (Sam's, Cosco, etc.) and would buy a lot of bulk sugarless gum for really cheap. Then I would chew like 5 pieces at a time as a facial exercise. I would do this watching TV, just walking around, etc. I found this gave my face quite a workout, improved muscle tone, kept my breath fresh, and didn't cause me to pucker my lips as with facial-flex. So in the end I didn't find a compelling reason for facial-flex. Hope this helps anyone.
