MAC Lip Treatment has been one of my long time, most loved products. I am at the end of my hoard, so I went to stock up. However, the Lip Treatment used to be an amber-ish color, and now it is a clear/white-ish color. Is it the same stuff??? |

Is that the one in a squeezey tube? I was at Singapore airport the other day and tried it and it was an amberish color from what I recall (or it could have been insanity brought on by 15.5 hours of flight by that stage...). |

No, its the one in a regular lipstick tube. I am nearing the end of mine, and am seriously going to cry at the MAC counter if the new stuff is different! |

Beka, MAC makes (or used to make at least) a couple of different lip treatments that came in a lipstick tube.
The first one I tried was a clear color; the second one (which I still have but am waiting to trade in via back-to-mac) is supposed to be a vitamin E treatment. The tube for this one is labeled *Clear* -- but the color of the stuff is a light lemony yellow (maybe what you describe as amber?)I don't remember what the first lip treatment was labeled.
I'm glad you found one that works for you. I didn't care for either.
Mabsy, I have a squeeze tube of MAC's lip conditioner -- the one that tastes vanilla-y. Maybe that's the one you mean? It's nice, but I get better results with my blistex herbal answer (tube).

From what I recall the original MAC lip treatment came in a pot and a tube - this was before all the tinted stuff came out. The stick came out not too long ago - within the last year or 2. The stick does NOT work as well as the pots imo even though they CLAIM it's the same stuff. The stick tastes a bit different, and I prefer the pot texture. I don't remember it being too, Basically all three types are apparently the "same" but with different textures - so I'm assuming that the lighter textures might not be as moisturizing as the more emollient ones. I remember the pot being an amberish colour as well but now the stuff is clear, I'm not sure why. However I've used both - amberish and clear from the pots and they work the same for me. The stick however doesn't work so well so I suggest you stick to your usual tube/pot.

sormuimui, if I remember correctly, I believe it's the lip conditioner that comes in the squeeze tube or pot. the lip treatments come only in a lipstick tube, I think.
I agree that the lip conditioner in the pot works better. i bought it in the tube because it was more convenient. at the time i bought it the ingredients they listed on their website for both the tube and pot were slightly different.
i think the whiter one is because that one contains spf.
i think the tube is still pretty good, but like I said, herbal answer is the answer for me |

According to the MAC offical website all of their lip treatments are called "lip conditioners". You're right, only the stick comes with SPF, with the pot there is a choice between one with or w/o SPF. The tube doesn't come with SPF. |

thanks for checking, sormuimui
I guess the l/s tube treatments have been discontinued, or are not listed on the site. The one that I was referring to is not the white lip conditioner one on the website. It came in a regular tube like their lipsticks. |

Mabsy, don't get me wrong -- I think it is still a good product. If I hadn't discovered the herbal answer, I would repurchase -- and the same one in the squeeze tube |

Beka, I passed by the MAC counter Tuesday and asked about those lip treatments that came in the lipstick tubes. The SA didn't know what I was talking about. So I suspect they have been or are being discontinued. |

SAs at MAC counters change quite frequently. I went before to get a lipstick that was similar to the LE Bunny Pink lipstick (because I don't want to use it and screw up the Playboy logo) and the SA had no clue what that colour was or when it came out. I also don't find the SAs to be as informed as they used to be about products - it really depends on the SA you encounter. |

sormuimui, that's true -- she did seem pretty inexperienced. I wanted to ask the SA who actually convinced me to get one of them years back but she was doing a consult and when I went back she had left for the day. I know she has been with MAC a long time
MAC SAs get quite a few perks (product-wise, that is), imo, and it always surprises me a little when they choose to leave that position |

A few years ago I was gonna apply to be a MAC SA because I LOVE playing around with makeup and I knew more about MAC products than some of the SAs did (back when I mainly used MAC makeup). But I didn't have a portfolio and was having difficulty finding people who would let me put makeup on their face - so at the end I didn't apply (I also heard you needed some makeup certificate). Too bad, it would've been a cool job with lots of perks |

I just got a job as a MAC sales assistant. You don't need a makeup certificate but you do have to take a makeup test with them tho!! I will check out about this lip treatment for you tomorrow. But, from memory we have a lip treatment that looks like a regular MAC lipstick (black casing), a pot which comes in regular and tinted and a stick (white casing)that also comes in tinted and regular and there is one in a white squeeze tube. I *think* the one in our black casing is amberish but I will check tomorrow. I may be wrong!! |

Okay, it def comes in a lipstick tube. It may be the Vit E version that someone mentioned earlier. It is not the one in the lipstick tube that has a white look. It looks yellow... although I think they call it "clear".
Thanks everyone for all of your decective work!
What is back to mac? |

Beka, yes that's the one I mentioned that I have. it's vit E, yellowish, and the label says clear. I'd be interested in knowing what you think of this -- it didn't do anything for me. But since I still have it (it's in my back to mac bag), maybe I'll give it another try.
Back to Mac is their recycling program. You take back 6 (or is it 5?) 'empty' containers' (although it's fine if there's still product in it -- like if you didn't like something) and can get a l/s for free. there are some restrictions -- like the viva glams are exempt.
misskatblack, our new resident MAC SA can probably fill in the details |

CP = custom purchase, now you know what I mean montreagal
btw, it's 6 products and foundation glass bottles do not count - I tried once. Only plastic, used up mascaras are included as well. |

Okay, so does the Vit E one still exist???
I love this stuff, I have used it for years. It gives a nice glossy sheen, and feels good. I can apply it without looking, it can go over or under lipstick. I put it on every night before I go to bed.
I think that part of it is that the smell makes me think of when I lived in Boston. |

Ok now I'm sort of confused. Are we talking about the Lip Treatment in the BLACK lipstick tube or the new one in the white tube that has SPF 15? Both of them have a yellowish colour to it. |
