Hi all - wondering your opinions on this product, since it seems to be such a favorite. My skin is SUPER sensitive, but I do have excess oil production. I live in a really hot, humid climate, which of course makes it worse. And my skin is slightly angry right now - too much chemical sunscreen - I am working on that! I know if I can get my skin to calm down some of the oil will go away, but I would still like to mop some more of it up. I recently saw some pictures of myself and my shiny, oily face looks horrible! Would this be suitable for me? Any irritation for anybody? How does it compare to the Dr. H oil or the PSF product - both seem to make similar claims, but in looking thru these posts, most raves come for the decleor. Any users of all three have preferences?
Thanks for your opinions

Hi Elizasue! The Ylang Ylang Oil is a great product--- I also love its sister product, the Matt Finish Skin Fluid. However, if your skin is currently overly sensitive because of chemical sunscreens (I've been there, it's not fun!), I might suggest starting out with a milder oil like jojoba. Recently I started using differin which is a topical acne precription and since I don't want to overload my poor sensitive skin I've temporarily shelved most of my actives (including ylang ylang). That being said, it's been all kinds of hot and humid here and I still need major oil control, so here's what I've been doing:
Wash face with DHC Deep Cleansing Oil
Tone with Dr. Hauschka Toner
While skin is still damp from toner, spread 2 drops of jojoba oil over face
Set the oil with a light misting of Zenbiotic Oxygen mist
Dust face with Jurlique Rose Silk Dust
Continue with make up routine

Jojoba oil apparently is very similar to the sebum the skin produces, so it sends a message to the skin that it can produce less oil. There are lots of fans of the Rose Dust here too--- this stuff keeps the shinies away like you wouldn't believe! When I do this full routine, my face stays shine-free all morning. Then, for the afternoon, I blot, mist my face with Dr. Hauschka toner, and then dust again with Rose Dust and voila--- shine-free for the rest of the day. HTH!

I was tempted by the Rose Silk Dust as well. Is there any difference between the Rose Silk Dust and the Lavender Silk Dust? I assumed it was the scent, but otherwise they were the same product?

I've never tried the lavender dust, but I've heard they are exactly the same except for the scent. I'm a rose girl, so I stick with rose.

Thanks for your input
I might give the jojoba a try first - it's way less expensive, anyway!
The rose dust powder sounds neat, although I am NOT a makeup kinda gal - sounds a little high maintenance for me, but perhaps now that I have hit 30 I will finally have to grow up and be a lady, as my grandma would say. And I suppose dusting one's face before running out the door isn't any more time intensive than smearing on some sunblock, which I would never ever leave home without!
BTW Manslayer Liz, what sunblock do you use, if you also have troubles with chemical sunsreeens? I have just ordered dermalogica sensitive sunblock, waiting anxiously for my EDS order!

Hi again! Yes, I would say definitely try the jojoba oil. It's dirt cheap, and you can also use it as cuticle oil, make up remover, etc etc. As for the Rose Dust, since it's clear I don't even actually consider it make up, I just look at it as another anti-oil treatment. (Sometimes I even put it on after I wash my face before bed so I don't get too oily over night...^-^ My skin just loves it.)

As for chemical sunscreens, my skin has a very hard time with them, ESP the dreaded avobenzone, ugh!! The best two I have ever found are Clarins UV Plus SPF40 and Colorscience Sunforgettable Powder SPF 30. Both of them contain ONLY non-chemical sunscreens, so instead of being irritating, they are actually quite soothing. The Clarins has a lot of fans on this board since it disappears into your skin with zero residue of any kind--- nothing short of a miracle IMO!^-^ HTH--- let me know if you have any more questions!

I really like the Decleor YY AND the Jurlique rose silk dust.

Unfortunately, nothing has helped w/my oilies. Tamed them a little bit but not managed them. So sad.
