Please contact them directly and ask them to clarify. They generally do not read the threads here and I am not too sure what they meant by that.
In regards to sending a copy of your statement - this is to confirm your billing address etc. I've had to do this with a number of companies when I placed my first order.

If you received this request by email, I would not respond by email. I would telephone the number posted on the website (do not open the website out of an email if one was sent to you, go to the website yourself through your browser).
A lot of scammers are very good at pretending to be legitimate companies and requesting your personal information. EDS may be too small to be hit by such a scam, but, for instance, with banks, emails are sent and will link you to a web page that is an exact replica of the bank's webpage, and will ask you for information, which they will then use for identity theft, or credit card fraud.
I may be overly cautious - but I never, ever provide any information to any company that requests it by email. The fake emails are called phish, and they can be extremely sophisticated.
Ok, paranoid speech finished now. |

I'm with you -- doesn't sound paranoid to me at all. Better safe than sorry.
The request for bank details raises a red flag for me. If you're paying by credit card, I don't see why this is necessary, even if your first card was refused.
FYI, I placed my first order ever with EDS last month and was not asked for any such info. |

I think the request for copy of statement is only necessary when you're paying by credit card. It's really protection for companies and usually happens when there is a problem with the payment (as in this case) but can happen as a random check as well. This is now increasingly normal as credit card fraud goes up. The owner of one perfume website I shop off told me that at some stage she was getting close to US$500 worth of fraudulent CC purchases per month.
bella77 - it looks like they have changed the name of the discount code to referral code. Just put your code in there. If it doesn't work then pls talk to EDS directly. TIA |

I agree, don't give your bank info. Call EDS to verify the purpose of it.
I just placed my 1st order yesterday and did not have my credit card, so I called the 800 number today with my number. The referral code I used was the code you received in your email.
Hope things work out. |
