Hi
My under eye area is very crepey, i have crows feet, forwn lines, lip lines and nose to mouth lines. Infact my face seems to be going quite saggy. I would say my skin can be dry and flakey but then shiny in other places (nose, sometimes cheeks and forehead.
Ive never used a peel before but was wondering about home peels, which would be the best to start off with TCA or other.
Also i use the PSF vit c but am looking at another as this works out quite expensive after shipping and custom charges.
Any suggestions please

Hi Sally,
I wouldn't start out with TCA, this would be fairly strong and is best used on skin that has been "conditioned" first. A series of glycolic acid peels would be benefical as they can improve the fine lines and help with skin texture. A series can be 20% through 70% or so. Or I suppose if you have used glycolic acid in the past you could do a series of peels at around 30-40% buffered without increasing the %. Some members, myself included, have gotten their peels atwww.makeupartistschoice orwww.platinumskincare.com. What is also benefical is to combine the peels with an occasional microdermabrasion peel, if you don't have overly sensitive skin. Also for a more intense procedure and downtime there is always laser resurfacing..but uughh, that would be major! Good luck and HTH's |

Oh I forgot to mention that botox can be used to treat crows feet (you probably already know this) and Restalyne(an injectable) can be used to treat the lip lines and lines from nose to mouth. I've met a few people who had the restalyne in both of these areas done and they love it!!!
A good Vit. C product is Skinceuticals AOX (10, 15 or 20%) or one made by SkinMedica. Both are quite nice |

For crepiness around the eyes I would suggest yNs A Serum which firmed up my eye area quite nicely. If you'd like to try a home glycolic peel there is a 30% available at 30glycolic dot com that I've used on my face, arms and hands. It will even out those dry/oily areas and get rid of flakes. You only need to do the peel once a week. With both of these suggestions, following instructions is key but they are both very effective and easy to use. Also, a 30% peel isn't so strong that you need to be afraid of it, but it's stronger than most mass merchandised creams so that you'll be able to see a result within a short time. |

Hi Lifeplyr01 and Jax
Thank you for your replies.
I will have a look at the glycolic acid peels. Ive never used anything like this before so im a little bit worried something could go very wrong. At the moment I am using Renova0.05% every night. Ive been using this for about 4 - 5 months now but havent seen any improvement. It was only after doing another search on EDS that I started reading about peels and just thought maybe this could help me a little bit more. Im feeling i look so much older than I am and am finding im quite depressed about it now. It seems to be constantly on my mind and when people are talking to me I think they must be thinking what a ugly old thing Alot of it is confidence and how I perceive myself but if I could just find a little something to improve my lines and skin texture / tone I think it would help me a great deal
Thank you both for giving me some advice

When you're applying a peel to problem eye areas, in particular the lower lid, what distance away from the eye do you have to put it? I'm a bit worried about it creeping into the eye. (Although, as it's not a cream, I would have thought this shouldn't be too much of a problem.) |

salster - I'm sure they're not thinking you're ugly at all. We tend to magnify in our own minds what we perceive as our faults, whereas others may not even notice them at all.
You probably look much better than you imagine. |

Try using Skinceutical Vit C+E Ferulic and Vit C + AHA alternatively.
As for the peel, you can try the Loreal AHA Peel. It is a home kit and it's at a very reasonable price. It's a similar product when compared to the Lancome AHA peel, only at a fraction of it's price. I'd agree with that using a microdermabrasier exfoliant when combined gives extremely good results, if you skin can handle it.
As for the flakiness, try the Herbal Recovery Gel as a hydration serum. It's light and easily absorbed by skin. |

Hi salster!
I am an Ice Elements "addict."
I too had the dry flakey skin before it became balanced with Ice Elements products, mainly the normal to dry cream cleanser, anti-aging serum and normal to dry moisturizer.
They also have normal to oily products for those in that type of skin.
For crepey eyes they have a lovely eye serum/eye cream combo. Some need only the serum, others only the cream... but I would suggest that you speak with either Brenda, the Esthetician, or Shelly, the president, to find out which would work best for you if you decide to try out this product line.

It sounds like you are already using a pretty strong product in the renova, which takes a while to show results as it does not work on the surface of the skin. So perhaps a lighter exfoliation product would help you rid yourself of the dead surface skin cells while allowing your product to penetrate more fully and easily. I like the Ice Elements 2 minute miracle and use it about 2 to 3 times a week, however it is so gentle that it can be used daily, if needed.
The antarticine in the anti-agine serum will help with hydration, wrinkles and sagging over the long term... but there is a new serum that they are coming out with in October, Edelweis serum that will be even more powerful and is meant to be used at night oposite the anti-aging serum for more results.
I cannot see if this line is what you are looking for, but perhaps you would speak with either Brenda or Shelly on their message board to see if all or some of the products are worth a try?
Although I do not have the same age skin as you have, I did try the eye serum on my bf one time, who is older, never used an eye cream and has very deep an numberous lines and puffiness in the eye area and I saw a noticable difference that evening when he came home from work... While I see less results in myself, I do love what it does for me, so much so that I am moved to speak about it often.
Have a great day!

Salster: I know what you mean about fearing something might go wrong. I was reluctant too when I first tried the glycolic peel. But if you watch the clock - and even shorten the timing by a minute or two - you'll see that it's o.k. With the glycolic, you should not get distracted like answering the phone, until you've done it a few times so you don't forget the time.
As far as the A serum I recommended, it not only tightens, it also exfoliates so you don't need to use the glycolic peel around your eyes (although it's safe to use in that area). I never got results from RetinA or Renova either. I have 50 yr old skin and the yNs serum is the only A-product I've used that has given results without clogging pores or harshly irritating my skin. The need to soak with water is the only inconvenience of using it, but it's worth the extra minute or two to do this. Feel free to PM me if you have questions. |
