I just heard this too! It's amazing! I heard that it's a 41 year old schoolteacher, a US citizen. He's confessed to "certain aspects of the murder." There's going to be a press conference tomorrow by the Denver, CO District Attny's office....

I just saw it too! Can't wait for the details. And I had no idea that Patsy Ramsey died just recently of ovarian cancer. How sad.

Yes, they are flying him back to Boulder county.. It's going to be interesting to see what comes out.. I know all the news stations here, will be covering it like mad..

I do feel bad for Patsy, if in fact this is the murderer, and she and her husband spent all these 10 years under suspicion and being accused by the public... Then she passed so soon before it possibly being solved..

It seems Patsy Ramsay was aware of a possible arrest before she died

Statement from father of JonBenet Ramsey

By The Associated Press
1 hour, 7 minutes ago

Text of a statement from John Ramsey, the father of JonBenet Ramsey, released Wednesday after authorities confirmed the arrest of a suspect in the girl's slaying:

"I want to have only very limited comment on today's arrest because I feel it is extremely important to not only let the justice system operate to its conclusion in an orderly manner, but also to avoid feeding the type of media speculation that my wife and I were subjected to for so many years.

"I do want to say, however, that the investigation of the individual arrested today in connection with JonBenet's death was discussed with Patsy and me by the Boulder district attorney's office prior to Patsy's death in June. So Patsy was aware that authorities were close to making an arrest in the case and had she lived to see this day, would no doubt have been as pleased as I am with today's development almost 10 years after our daughter's murder. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude for the efforts of Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy and the members of her investigative team."

Just because a case is over in the eyes of the press and public doesn't mean the investigation stops. I'm glad there is finally a begining of a resolution to this.

Bless the people who never gave up and I hope they fry his butt. Only wish Patsy could have seen the full story even though they new of the investigation. How sad that all these years they blamed them.

I've always wondered about those middle-aged Western men who move to Bangkok, without any professional employment, and hang around the sex bars 24/7, what they are running away from back home. Hmmmm....

Lin,

There was a beautiful little blonde girl whose mother was entering her in child beauty pagents. 10 years ago, around Christmas, she went missing from her bedroom and they found her in a room in the basement of her home, murdered. There was a ransom note found upstairs, but the local police focused on the parents as the most likely suspects. No other viable suspect was found, until now. JonBenet's parents were victimized by the fact that the media kept repeating, "The parents of JonBenet, currently under an umbrella of suspicion..." So the media caused much of the general public to believe that JonBenet's parents murdered their own little girl. It ruined their lives in addition to the tragedy of their loss.

Is anyone else starting to have doubts that this guy did it? Here is what they're reporting so far, and why everyone is starting to question it:

He admitted to the murder, but says he won't say how he got in the house and has yet to give any details on how he killed her, other than it was an "accident".

The kicker for me is that his wife at the time is saying that he was at home with her in Alabama at the time. She also said that he was obsessed with her case and another girl that died after being taken from her home in 1993.

So, I'm starting to wonder if this guy isn't just mental and *thinks* that he did this. I'll be interested to see how the DNA evidence turns out!

Guilty or not, this man is in for a really tough time in any US prison, and protective custody won't make much difference.

And if he did do it, then he deserves everything he gets...times 10. If he didn't, then I hope he has a good lawyer...and a guardian angel in prison cos he will certainly need one.

I have to admit, I was starting to feel a shade of doubt after I read that he was also obsessed with the Polly Klass case. Oh, what a giant screw-up if they publicized this person's name without something solid like a DNA match! Shock

I wouldn't call it a giant screw up, publishing his name.. He did after all confess to it.. It's also been reported that he does know things about the case that weren't made public.. And he was involved in a press conference and was being asked questions, sooooo.....

At the same time, there does seem to be some issues in all this.. He's said to have written a report on it and did all kinds of research, so is it possible he somehow got info about the case that wasn't released? He says he drugged her, but yet, the coroners report said no drugs were found in her body..

I dunno, I guess we need to do what John Ramsey and the officials are telling us to do, and that's NOT jump to conclusions, make judgements etc.. You can imagin, here it's the main news story with lots of coverage... They will do DNA testing as soon as he gets back.

I think so many were hoping it was going to be cut and dry, as far as this case being solved.. Now with so many questions coming up after the 'confession', it just adds more fuel to this whole thing..

If this guy didn't do it, it's still a sick, sick thing he did... And it would appear from things coming out, he's a sick-o either way..

Hmmm...after watching tonite's news, there are a bunch of things that don't add up.

Some of the things he's saying he did, there is no evidence of like he said he drove her home from school that day? There was no school that day, it was Christmas vacation.

On T.V. he looks out of it - like he's not all there. Could this be a false confession?

We'll have to see it all play out - but if it isn't him, I sure wish they'd find out who did do it. Such a shame that Patsy Ramsey saw no justice b/f her death a couple of months ago.

There's something about this that doesn't add up for me either. I'm having doubts too that he did it, or if he did, was there anyone else involved? I guess we'll have to see what comes of it. He comes across as very, very strange.

I am more and more convinced that this man is unstable and looking for celebrity for all the wrongs reasons. His story is getting weird.

This keeps getting weirder and weirder. Now he's alleged to have been getting sex change treatment in BKK, plus laser facial hair removal. My morning paper has interviews with his BKK docs, who won't say much, plus staff at the hotel he was staying at.

And there's allegations regarding Thai police and Karr's supposed confessions to them. Apparently some senior Thai police are now completely changing or retracting their stories. The Immigration Police chief Suwat now claims what Karr said about picking JonBenet up from school was "based on his recollection of a documentary about the case".

This entire JonBenet saga is wearying -- anytime there's "news" in the case, the media go wild.

The lastest chapter is laughable -- the guy is SO wanting his 15 minutes of fame, and he's getting it and a lot more! I guess when he's a free man again, the book and film rights will make him a multi-millionaire. Then he can afford his sex change operation and some designer clothes to complete his makeover.

From the beginning, this story creeped me out. Although the Ramseys seemed like truly loving parents, this whole business of sexing up the look of a 6 year old child and putting her on display is nothing short of perverted IMO. I don't get the whole child beauty pageant phenomenon in the first place. With all of the pedophiles around, what was this mother thinking when she sent her little girl out on a stage to pose in sexually provocative ways, winking and strutting around with full makeup and skimpy clothes???

I have to agree with m. april. I find everything about this case terribly disturbing and always have. I don't like "beauty pageants" to begin with, but when I remember being completely startled when I first saw photos of Jon Benet Ramsey. I found them to be very sexually suggestive and I was disturbed by the fact that the child was clearly being encouraged to affect adult expressions and poses. Her parents behavior immediately following her death was indeed peculiar, but I would never pass judgement on someone's behavior after such a traumatic episode. HOWEVER, as far as I'm concerned, the way the child was handled prior to her murder came very close to meeting my threshhold of child abuse.

As for this freak who confessed, just keep in mind that alot of the discrepancies in this case may be attributable to the Thai authorities and sources. They're notoriously incompetent and you could see supposedly high Thai officials mugging for the cameras at every opportunity. It is, of course, VERY possible that this freak is just making all of this up. I think we'll know soon enough. Although the manner in which this case was handled when it occurred was outrageously incompetent, the folks in charge now clearly know what they're doing.

Having him "escorted" back to the U.S., but not placing him under arrest was absolutely brilliant from a legal standpoint. ANYTHING he said or did while on the flight is going to be admissable in court, since he wasn't being formally detained.

that's any interesting way of looking at it Katee. So, the fact that he wasn't detained was a good thing.
I do believe that he is trying to become infamous with the death of a poor 6 year old. Crying or Very sad

Yahoo is reporting that Karr's DNA doesn't match the one found in the girls underwear. I guess we were right! This case is soooo strange.
