I'm just wondering what the best wrinkle relaxer product is out there? Please mention which product worked best for you and for what area of your face. |

I have used CSRX Relax-A-Line, PSF Browtox, and Freeze 24/7 Anti-Wrinkle Cream. My wrinkles did improve while using these products, but I don't think it was because of these wrinkle relaxers. I think it was because of the vit C and vit A I was also using at the time.
Here's the thing, argireline (the active in Relax-A and Browtox) hinders the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh) - which tells your muscles to contract. And Lipotec says topical argireline only penetrates just so far to inhibit the release of ACh at that last step, when ACh moves from the nervous system to receptors on muscle fibers right under our skin.
Really, I have serious doubts argireline even penetrates our skin. Sure it may work if you inject it directly into muscle fiber, but just slapping it on, I don't think it penetrates. I think the only study to say it works on wrinkles comes from the manufacturer, and it was a very small test group.
It's the same with GABA (which is in the Freeze) - I don't think it works as advertised. Research I've seen on GABA tell its effects IN THE BRAIN (for vertebrates). Like if you have cerebral palsy, you can take medicine to increase production of GABA in the brain, which smoothes muscle movement all over your body. And you can't ingest GABA or anything, because most research shows it doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier. I think Freeze just took what GABA does in the brain, and is trying to say that (if it can even get there) it also can work just directly under the skin - which I don't think it can.
So in summary, I believe:
Skin Penetration:
argireline - doesn't penetrate
GABA - doesn't penetrate
If directly injected, would it relax muscles:
argireline - I think so
GABA - yeah, if you injected it into your brain |
