OMG I so HAVE to have this!! (what is wrong with me.. I cannot stop myself from buying cosmetics this week.. well, have not bought anything since before summer really.... )
Japan's Guerlain Christmas "Precious Coffret"
http://www.guerlain.co.jp/index_makeup.html
You get:
1 x Single color eyeshadow (in the limited edition colors of #4 Grenat Taffetas or #5 Satin D'Or)
1 x Kiss Kiss lipstick in your choice from the four limited edition holiday colors (torn between #527 and #570)
1 x "La Poudre C'est Moi" Powder compact (also limited edition)
AND that funky little red party bag!! How adorable is this set? How much do I WANT this set?!
The best thing is that it costs 15,570 yen (which is like $130), which is the SAME price as the 3 items alone cost in the US! (I checked the pricing at Neiman Marcus )
Someone tell me that I dont need them... please!
I am going to have to call the store tomorrow and have them hold me a set till saturday.. but they came out on sale last Saturday, so maybe they are gone already... |

Oh, hell, Tiger....I cannot tell you don't need it because that might be just the thing to have my husband get me for Christmas! I've been debating on options since I've got almost everything I want AND I don't want to send him on a wild goose chase for one of my skin care/makeup products that I'm lemming. There's a Guerlain counter he knows about so...it might just work!
That is so cute, BTW. I just love Guerlain. |

ooh, I meant to say that the Kiss Kiss holiday lippies I am drawn to are not the numbers above (where did I get those from?!)
But #509 Rouge Elixir (dazzling red with golden reflections)
or #510 Magie de Grenat (iridescent garnet with golden reflections)
If anyone finds they cannot get these sets and really wants one then I wuold be happy to pick one up you. I hope I dont like the black bag better when I get there... |

just to throw a wrench in your decision (because i *know* you're getting it!), 510 is a kind of ruby red with gold shimmers that is the perfect holiday lippy. just brightens up the face and says "kiss me under the mistletoe!" without being completely obnoxious.
actually, when i put it on i was thinking that *this* was the colour for scalawaggirl's wedding.... you can do it again, no??? |

Ha! Since I am a true makeup/skincare whore, I ended up buying Clarin's 550 Passion (what I did wear for the wedding) and also Guerlain #509 Rouge Elixir - it's on the cool side but easily warms up w/a base or gloss - very, very pretty.
Of course, I want another one that's warmer....what to tell my husband to pick....any suggestions ladies? When I was there, they had the holiday products but the SA did not mention a pretty little bag... |

Well, I got it!! I got the “Precious Coffret” with the red bag. It came with the limited powder and eye shadow (I got the #4 Grenat Taffetas). This set did not come with the limited holiday lipsticks, and I wanted to have #527 Framboise Pulsion from the regular range, but it was sold out (of course), so I went with #500 Very Gold, as it looks so nice over the top of other colors.
There was not much stock left at the Seibu Ikebukuro store, especially with the set with the black-bag as most of the limited lipstick colors had gone. All the individual limited colors are gone too, so I am off to sephora now to order the #510 Magie de Grenat, following la vie’s comment!
OH and the "La Poudre C'est Moi" is AWESOME!! very light and sheer with just a hint of sparkle. it would also look beautiful on the decollette area and the SA said to put on plenty of moisturizer then apply the powder.
Bad me, bad, bad, me … |

no no no! don't buy it because of what i said. (will *not* be responsible for your naughtiness!) definitely try it first. besides, if you bought the gold, you might actually already have the colour in your arsenal just by layering another red with the gold over.... 510 is a great red, mind you, very wearable without screaming "red lips coming!" but is it a necessity? probably not. just wanted to help you with the limited colour collection.... there are sooooo many lovely choices. go with what you need but do try the 510! |

see but I cannot "try" it as it is sold out in Japan.. I was tossing over the #509 and #510 and your comment just swayed me, that is all.
Um, but also, to be honest.. I want the red kiss kiss packaging.. it is lovely....
OH and I tried to get your sample today.. and they wont let me have one (no proper samples and refuse to decant ) |

i'll check out the difference between 509 and 510 for you on monday (the sephora here is having a 20% off day -- guess who will go a bit mad???). and, i agree, the red packaging *is* gorgeous!
not to worry about the sample. guess i'm just stuck with my VL Dew Finish in Porcelain forever. i love it as it's very light weight and matches me perfectly -- it just has the staying power of a gloss.... i wear it very sparingly to even out my tone -- even MUAs in the department store always think i'm foundation-less i'm sure a primer would help fix that problem, but everyone i've tried has broken me out |

okay.... i checked out the difference between 509 and 510 for you. *huge* difference, although they are both technically shimmery reds. 510 is more subdued, a little darker, and more ruby in tone. 509 is woo-hoo my lips are bright (but not in a garrish way), more strawberry/orange in tone. i personally couldn't carry off the 509 but it was trés striking! still, it seems to me to be more of a party/festive type colour whereas the 510 could be worn out of season.
or maybe i'm just a fuddy-dud . because of the gorgeous packaging, i got the 508 which is as close to a nude as these lips can get. i asked the MUA there if it looked all right (because even i knew it was a little, well, natural looking) and he said i could get away with it because i had good skin. i was ready to marry him then and there!!!
ended up with the special meteorites to use as a blush. absolutely gorgeous! the compact was more intense, but i could not justify paying €125 for it (if anyone sees it on sale -- holler). the powder looked lovely, but also was too dear. and i got the same shadow as you.... sigh.
it's all your fault! if it wasn't for me checking on the lippies for you, i would never have gone near knowing my weakness for Guerlain |

guilty as charged
I did end up getting the #510 in the end because, as you noted, it has more possibilities in terms of where it can be worn. Also, the #509 reminds me of my Kiss Kiss Gloss in #25 "Rouge Passion", so technically i have my blood red covered.
I did see the #508 here in Japan and was like, WOW.. but they did not have any individual ones on sale, only in the other kit. I came very close to getting it at the Sephora sale too, but like I just added 3 lippy to my stash in a matter of one week and yet another would be just a tad overboard ... |

Hey, stop casting the spell!! As a result of reading this post I have gone (pretending that I was just passing by .. ) and got myself the Kiss Kiss #508. And yesterday I 'passed by' again and the SA told me this color already sold out. BUT they do not offer this X'mas Coffret in Hong Kong .. what a shame! I did also get the LIPLIFT and also a powder kohl liner (packaging is absolutely beautiful - a tapered tube with a golden handle)#00 - a white gold color - MANAGED to get the LAST ONE!! |
