I couldn't find a devoted thread to Carekate's Pearl Cream so I thought I'd start here.
Carekate's Pearl Cream has been one of those subtle products that become Holy Grail - you don't notice a huge difference when using it - but God forbid you forget to use it!
Personally, I love the gel-like texture (vs. heavy cream). It's really light and does adjust on my skin. I can actually use this on my oily areas. Some days I do need an extra oompf on dry cheeks but usually I don't use anything else.
My foundation goes on better, I don't get as oily, it dries/sinks in fast ... and last night I found another benefit.
I've been using a lot of products and my face has been itching the past 2 days with a couple of products (DMAE, matrxyl and copper). I don't mix them together, but usually it's one toothpick too many of products. I skipped one day and diluted the next day. It still itched when I applied emu oil.
Last night I tried diluting more and it still itched .... then I remembered the anti-inflammatory effects of the pearl cream and used that. The itching stopped!!! I was so happy that I didn't have to wash my face and start all over again.
Anyway, I don't advise the product overload, but it's nice to know of this added benefit for the pearl cream. |

Would like to say I got a sample of some re-formulated Pearl Cream from Carekate called "silky Pearl Creme". It's a lot smoother and more hydrating than her old version and glides on a lot easier too. Didn't notice any hardened pearl pieces in there which was in my old batch. This is on my repurchase once my current jar runs out! Good thing I got a sample as mine is more than half used up already. I also want to mention that I'm not 100% sure this is a "new version" since the one I bought was from the very first batches that Carekate made and mine had Vit A and SK-Bio in it which I think she stopped putting into her Pearl cream right after I mentioned some balling up due to the SK Bio. Anyways, Love this product! |

I love her pearl creme as well. Quickly turned into an HG of mine. I've been meaning to ask some questions on it for awhile and luckily this thread caught my eye. Now I'm pretty sure I have a batch of the old (original) formula. With some harder pieces in it (doesn't make me love it any less).. however when I put it on, I find that when I keep rubbing, it starts to flake off... I thought maybe this was my skin (super exfoliating powers) and quickly discovered it was the pearl creme itself. So is this something that shouldn't be rubbed in too much? It seems like I just rubbed it right off my skin when I was doing that! I do use it every night over my serum and I do love it.. although its a bit confusing.. am I rubbing it off, is it sinking in.. where's it going? Good stuff though. |

PhoebesMeow: From what I know (from experience and reading other threads on this topic) you either got the batch with SK Bio (I got mine late 2006) can't remember which date exactly but it was just when Carekate came out with the Pearl Cream. However if you got it much later it could be that you're putting on too much. Hjprt mentioned in another thread that Pearl Paste/cream does form a sort of protective layer on skin as well so this might be why you get the balling up. I used to have this problem too but I learn to put the right amount for my skin (2 pea size for the original) you need much less for the Silky Pearl Creme because it's WAY smoother and it helps to dampen your face with a spritz + put a drop of water on your fingers before applying to help smooth out a THIN layer on your skin. After this I had no problems with balling up or flaking off. Oh and this happens with my BBS Acne Gel too - the rubbing/flaking, it's mainly due to the protective layer thing. HTH |

.. I have no idea what batch mine came from. I do know I use very little. Less than a pea size amount in total. I just get the balling up flaking after I rub and rub. It almost seems like I'm taking it back off (which sounds right from what you're telling me). Thanks for the reply! |

how does this compare to osea's apc/atpc or naturderm's chrysallyx? for combo skin do you need to use this with a moisturizer or could you just add extra moisturizer onto specifically dry areas? |

It's very different from Chrysalex. Chrysalex has a slight perfume and is more creamy. Carekate's product is more towards a gel and great for combo skin. If my cheeks feel dry sometimes I'll add something there, but it's nice because it's so light. |

what i like about chrysallyx is that it seems to help old acne scars heal faster - does the pearl creme help with this also? |
