It depends on the type of church. Some churches require women to be more covered. For my wedding the gals had to wear shawls because their dresses were spaghetti strap...but shorter skirts were fine (not minis of course!)

I agree with Paris that it depends on the church. It also depends how formal the wedding is--- if it's very formal and in the evening you might want a long dress, while if it's during the day you might want a short dress. And definitely bring a shawl!^-^

It also depends on the season and time of day.
(summer lighter colors, winter darker). Chose something that will not take attention from the bride. I would never wear thin straps without a shawl. I would never wear anything low cut or too bold colors (remeber that the bride should stand out in photos).

Generally a morning or early afternoon wedding is less formal. I would wear a long dress for an evening wedding.

If it is a very young crowd I'd consider a mini skirt but for older or more formal crowd I'd chose knee length or long.

I don't even own a long dress. To be safe, try for one that ends a few inches below the knees. I don't think the length matters as much as the style and color.

btw, this threat probably belongs in the EDS Lounge. This section is for Skin Care and Makeup.
