Is it completely counter-productive to use both AHA products and a self-tanner? Will the self tanner even work? I am a addicted to Aha products especially for my body, b/c if I don't use it, I get all these little dry skin bumps. But I love the idea of a lovely golden tan (I'm as ivory as ivory gets). When I tried self tanner last spring, I loved it, but stopped using it b/c I wanted to go back using Aha body lotions (dry skin bumps). But we're not supposed to go in the sun to get tan. What's a girl to do? Am I forever forbidden to be tan?
Btw, I also use a retinol product on my face. When I used self-tanner on my face I felt like my pores were clogged.
Note, I did not use a particularly noteworthy brand. Would something expensive work better? |

Maybe you need to use the AHA at night only. Personally I don't use self tanners...well...maybe once in awhile but I love using NUXE dry oil with shimmer then I apply my sunblock on top. I might purchase FAKE BAKE Bronzy Babe Tinted Body Glow and see how that works.
In general, I like to embrace my light skin. |

I use AHA/BHAs and self tanners year round.
You can do it. just be prepared to apply your self tan product more often as your skin will exfoliate faster. This is easiest if you get a simple fast drying product like a liquid airbrush solution, or a mousse.
You can wipe it on quickly and skin is dry in a few minutes so you can dress and go, or head to bed.
Most ppl who use Acids and retinoils on face, apply self tanner every night or every second night to their face.
Apply you tanner either in a seperate session from your other products, or 30 minutes later. You can wipe excess retinol lotion or acid cream off of skin with a damp cloth before applying your self tan product for best absorption.
The corret product will not clog your pores.
You also may find a good manual exfoliation with nylon mesh gloves, once a week, can replace your body AHA, it does for many people.
Se messageboards atwww.sunless.com for lots more specific help on self tanning use. |
