Golly, I went to this site for something else that someone here recommended and spotted this shower filter. So now I wonder if I should buy it.
The description is quite enticing: Softer skin and hair in 1 week, guaranteed! A truly amazing product. Its like showering in natural spring water!
Any input or suggestion regarding the use of a shower filter would be greatly appreciated. It doesn't have to be this brand. If there's a better one, or a cheaper one that works well, please recommend.
TIA! |

There are reviews on Amazon about this product here:

If you do purchase it, I would be interested in your results.
Take care.

hi bkkgirl,
first make sure that your tap water is heavily chlorinated. if it is, then definitely get one!
do a test: fill up an empty bottle of water or a large glass and let it sit for about 12 hours. smell inside the glass. if it reeks of chlorine, then certainly get the shower filter.
their claims are based on the idea that chlorine is drying out your skin and hair. if your water has other problems, you'd do best to save your money. i bought one here in paris and it did absolutely nothing for me. also, make sure that the amt of vitamin c is controlled, since it can be drying in large amts in and of itself.
if it is a charcoal filter, it is not effective as a shower filter, from research that you can find on the web...

I bought this filter to see if it will help with my eczema. Unfortunately it made my hair very flat but soft. Even DH complained about the hair situation so I ended up taking it off the shower. |

Were you able to return it for a refund? Maybe I should try to buy this at a store like Target (not sure if they carry it there), but Target gives you 90 days to try a product. |

Vitamin C? What vitamin C?
I have this filter, I've had it for years. I've always used it with a chrome hand held shower head that came with it. I love it. I've been using shower filters for for the past 10 years now. So I can't really say what my skin or hair would be like without them. What I love about this one is the great water pressure and esp. when I install a new filter replacement in it it also feels almost oxygenating. I really notice a difference when I shower at hotels or other people's houses. It just feels cleaner with the filter. It's hard to explain but without a filter in a lot of places it leaves my skin feeling like there is this filmy coating or something. It's subtle, but I'm very sensitive. Also, when I just start the water in the tub before turning the shower on I can smell the chlorine. I don't care if it is heavy chlorine or not, I want the least amount of chlorine as possible. It's done it's job of disinfecting the water and serves me no purpose anymore, it can only do me harm, esp. breathing it. Your body and skin (esp. scalp) absorbs it very easily. I once did this test with this chlorine detector and tested some water that showed chlorine. Then I took some of the water and soaked my hand in it for only a few seconds and tested it. There was hardly any chlorine anymore, so I guess my body absorbed most of it? Anyways, they don't filter out fluoride unfortunately, but they help and are totally worth it. My hands probably get the most chlorine as I'm an avid hand washer. Oh well. |

whoops!
sorry, i thought you guys were talking about this one:
http://santeforhealth.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=197
apparently, the aquasana-type shower filter is not as effective at filtering out chlorine as the vitamin c filters:
http://home.comcast.net/~reviewguy/
But I am sure it does filter out some things. I am just bitter because my water has calcium carbonate and iron in it, and when I inquired about effectiveness with the manufacturers of ALL these filters, they politely conceded to me that the filters do not help with my problem...
Good luck, and all I'd say is make sure to test your water for ph and minerals/chloramines first before you buy one--you may not need it!

I know my Wellness shower filter (expensive but worth it - got it for less on Ebay than the usual $250) works wonderfully as Philadelphia water is heavily chlorinated. Makes a big difference in how much moisturizer I have to use on my dry skin after showering. Also in my hair.
When doing my research, Aquasana looked like the next best bet and much less money. |
