Hi everyone! wave

Ive been using the Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner for about 2 weeks now and Im in LOVE ! My hair feels and looks amazing and the shine factor is intense. It also seems to plump up each individual strand and makes my hair so incredibly lush! The issues I have with other shampoos are, either they over clean and leave my hair and leave it frizzy and dry or, they weigh my strands down and it looks/feels greasy and unmanageable/limp.

FYI: My hair is virgin (no color), fine (but full), prone to dryness and splitends. I do blowdry it (90% dry) and use a flatiron on certain parts.

Product description: Thick, white, cream softly scented of mint. Very slight tingling scalp sensation not overpowering at all, perfect!

From the website: Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner
A universal cleanser created with the perfect balance of herbs and natural ingredients, to not only cleanse your scalp and hair, but to also moisturize, strengthen, nourish and add sheen. It is designed to eliminate shampoo and it’s harsh effects, without sacrificing the integrity and Beauty of your hair. WEN is the only Cleanser/conditioner you will need to use in your daily routine, and can be used as often as necessary. It works particularly well on fine to medium texture hair. It is also recommended to be used as a leave-in conditioner.

Packaging: I got the 16oz bottle, comes with a pump style despenser, label and bottle look great displayed in the shower.

Price: $28USD for 16oz, with shipping came to about $38.

Overall: I really like this product, it gets my hair clean with no residue and does not leave it feeling stripped. It feels exactly the way hair should, soft, bouncy and healthy. My hair also seems to stay cleaner longer when using this, meaning Im only shampooing every 4 days or so.

Ok, I know this stuff is not cheap but, if you dont go overboard I think this could last long enough to justify the price. The usage directions say: For hair down to your shoulders use a minimum of 30 pumps, past your shoulders 40+ pumps and above your shoulders 20 pumps. To me that is way too much, granted my hair is only about 6 inches long at the longest point but, Im only using about 4-5 pumps for my whole head. You just have to take a bit longer to work the product around the scalp and add a bit of water to help the process along.

I give this 10 stars, I will repurchase as long as my budget allows. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this stuff!

Hi Vonstella,
Thanks for the review. Sounds interesting. I went to the web site. Since I don't have fine hair but more like medium to coarse texture, I was looking more at the new Fig one.

(New - Fig Cleansing Conditioner
A cleansing conditioner which cleanses the hair & scalp without any detergents or sodium laurel sulfate. Therefore not stripping the scalp or hair of it’s natural oils. Fig Cleansing Conditioner can be used as often as necessary. Due to its rich dense nature it is formulated to strengthen& re hydrate the hair . Fig is a universal cleanser, but due to its moisturizing properties it performs amazingly well on, dry, heat damaged, color treated, medium to coarse, wavy to curly and ethnic hair. It is also recommended to be used as a leave-in conditioner)

Don't they offer a sample size? I would hate to buy an expensive shampoo if I would end up not liking it later.

Hmm...they must be in LA somewhere. They got a 323 area code. Maybe I can go to their salon and talk to someone. Smile

bkkgirl -- they're in Hollywood (on Fountain, near Vine). I had my hair done there last week. VERY nice people! They carry the entire WEN line at the shop.

Yeah, thank you! I know where I'm going this weekend..hehe

How much do they charge for a haircut, Marla? What do you think of the quality of their haircut? I pretty much gave up on finding a good hairstylist. Once I splurged and went to the so-called Long Hair Specialist in Pasadena who charged $75, and I HATED (with a passion) my haircut. It was the worst throwing $ down the drain. I might as well burn $75 (and tips), and then I would not be stuck with a bad haircut for a whole year. So now I go back to my $8 haircut lady, who at least won't mess up my hair but she does not really know how to create any style. A simple cut she can do.

I believe that the haircut was $75 (not exactly sure because I had color done at the same time and I forgot to ask for the breakdown). They DEFINITELY aren't inexpensive, but their service is awesome. Very attentive and always asking what they can do to be sure you're comfortable. Everybody's very chatty and friendly - no pretense at all.

You should definitely go! It's not far off the 101 fwy. Along with the salon there's a little gift shop that has the entire line of WEN products as well as jewelry, gift items, etc - very cute place!

That's great! I should call the salon to get a direction. I will keep them in mind when I next need a haircut. Sidda just suggested a hair sylist in Glendale in the Lounge section who works at Fantastic Sam's, and she charges $15. I think I'll try her first when I go for my next cut. If I still don't like the cut, I'll try and splurge again at Chaz's studio. Smile

Is the gift shop charging the same price on WEN products?

I think the prices are the same, but not positive. My client (who referred me to the salon) says that you can get fairly decent prices on QVC as they sell the products in kits.

As an aside, the jury's still out for me regarding WEN products - which kind of sucks because I really like the product ingredients, the way they smell,e tc. I have finicky hair and my scalp gets pretty oily. My hair always LOOKS clean after using just WEN, but it's...what's the word?...unmanageable. It's too soft, limp, etc. To be fair, right now I'm trying to grow my hair out and it's kind of tough to deal with no matter what I use on it. The stylist at Chaz Dean gave me a bunch of pointers, so I'll keep on trying!

I checked Ebay and they sell WEN, too, but some sellers offer a 6 oz size, which is less than the 16 oz size sold by the salon in Hollywood. I wonder how they could do that.

They carry the 6 oz containers at the salon...maybe they just don't sell them on the website?

WEN is that "no shampoo" method Marina. I know a few people who use it and love it. The products look sooooo delicious!

I use Wen and am happy with it. My hair is thinning and this really helps with breakage for me. I would recommend getting a kit with three or four of the scents so that you can experiment with different combinations. Although I thought the sweet almond mint would be best for me, I am really liking a combo of cucumber aloe/tea tree with a couple pumps of fig. I am using the sweet almond mint as a leave in conditioner (just a couple of pumps). I also use the tea tree oil overnight a couple of times a week. Almost forgot, I use the sweet almond mint styling cream as well. On days I don't do a complete cleaning, I use a couple of pumps of both sweet almond mint conditioner and styling cream as leave ins. Makes the hair much less frizzy and so easy to comb!

Did you get it in the 16 oz size, or the 6 oz size? I want to go to their salon and get the smaller size instead of the big one they sell on the web.

I bought a set of three smaller jars (I believe they are six ounces) from QVC. I got the larger ones from naturallycurly.com. I think you can order both the sets and individual large ones from the Chaz Dean web site. The shipping is pretty high from his site, however.

I was thinking to just go to Hollywood where his shop is located and pick one up. I wanted to speak to someone and have that person look at my hair (maybe feel it) and see which one I should buy, too.

I called Chaz Dean Studio today. Yup, they sell the 6 oz bottle for $15.15. I thought it was cute they charge fifteen dollars AND fifteen cents. They seemed really nice and helpful there. I plan to go there this Saturday if I can, and have someone look at my hair, and pick up a bottle of this conditioner cleanser. I probably have to go with Fig since my hair was damaged from the Japanese straightening perm, and the texture of my hair is medium/coarse.

BTW, in case someone also wanted to go to the studio, they're open only Tue through Sat. W-F they're open 12-7, and T & Sat, they're open 10-5.

bkkgirl,
Let us know how your visit goes. From what I read when researching Wen, they are very helpful and interested in finding the best product for each customer.

is the okay to use if you only wash your hair once or twice a week or does it need to be used more often? also, does the hair happily adjust or is there a learning curve?

You are supposed to be able to cleanse less with Wen. Once or twice a week is probably very realistic. I used to shampoo everyday but with Wen I do every other day. There is a bit of a learning curve (how much to use, making sure you use enough water, leaving on long enough, using the right type) but hair responds very quickly to look and feel much healthier. You might check out the Chaz Dean website for info.

I had received the Wen 'sampler' as a generous gift. I have to admit I was pretty apprehensive about giving my traditional shampoo the boot. But - I gave the Wen products a fair chance & admit the products are wonderful.

My hair feels clean, full, shiney & bouncy. It is a bit more expensive than a regular shampoo/conditioner - but a little really does go a long way.

Ohhh... vonstella, this sounds yummy! I didn't know "lush" hair was possible. How do you suppose it is for oily scalps? Does anyone else get oily scalps and use this cleanser w/o any trouble? (I wash my hair every other day and on the second day my hair usually goes up in a clamp clip or elastic.)

I think it would be excellent for oily scalps, I shampoo every 3-4 days and maybe by the 4th night Im starting to get a bit greasy. Thats where the Burts Bee's Baby Bee Dusting powder comes in! Very Happy

Also, in my review I mentioned that I can go longer inbetween shampoo's when using WEN.
