Hi - I am a first time poster to this board. I have had melasma for at least 8 yrs (seems like forever)! I am Chinese, 46 yrs young. Just stopped taking birth control pills/BCP for good. I was hoping that others who share my skin dilemma will also share their secrets on how they control their melasma. I have only been off the BCPs for 3 months. I plan, sometime soon 3 microdermabrasion treatments. I'm hoping this will decrease/reduce/get rid of the dark patches and maybe, just maybe not come back due to the fact I am off the BCPs!
Please share your ideas and your routines with me...I am a skin lightener junkie ) |

Thank you for posting. I was taking Yaz. I have dark patches like the lady in the 2nd pic. Does Obagi use products that contain hydraquinone? I prefer to avoid that ingrediant.
I am a faithful user of:
15% Vit C w/ferulic acid in the AM
Copper P in the PM
Avene SPF 50 during the work week under my mineral makeup and
Bioderma SPF 50 on the weekends with no
mineral makeup |

I ended up with a HORRIBLE brown stain post-ipl and Triluma cream cleared it up in no time! I'm still using it to clear some other stains I have.
It does have hydroquinone though. |
