Do you gals just start a new thread if you want to swap products, or is there some kind of organized system for it?
And if it's the former, what do EDS moderators think about creating a section exclusively for swapping products? The coding might be kind of a pain, but users could have, say, a "cart" of what they want to get rid of, etc... just a thought! |

I have a question along the same lines...Could I possibly make a post asking to see if there were girls in my area which may want to make an order together to save on expensive shipping costs (eg $20US)? |

I'd like to do this too. I have products piled up and I feel bad letting them go to waste. |

This is a good idea! If it is not cost prohibitive (postal charges) it would be nice to swap away some new products you bought but ending up not being able to use it (i.e allergic reaction to some). |

I think this was brought up a while back. You can post on the lounge forum and see if there are takers for your items. EDS does not want to have a separate swap board and be responsible for swapping.
MUA has a swap board set up with feedback etc. You can search through the swap board to see if there are people looking for items you can't use. |

yeah i remember a while back that some members wanted a subforum dedicated to swaps...
but it is a great idea to swap with members here than on MUA, cos theres just too many swap-lifters there (i personally havent swapped on MUA as i dont really trust some people on there)...but combining shipping is a great idea. too bad i dont live near u! |

Thanks for the reply - it makes sense that EDS wouldn't want to be responsible for managing a swap board, as it's not exactly lucrative for them! Like many others I find MUA's forums kind of a pain in the butt, and I've come to be comfy and trusting of the EDS community here. This may not be feasible, but I'm just going to throw out an idea - does anyone think we could use the relatively new EDS Facebook group for a swapping forum? I'll post this in the Facebook group as well as in the thread where that got started to see what people think. |

Basically, Facebook is just a network for different groups. You can sign up for a free account online at Facebook.com. Our group doesn't have a logo yet but it's about the fifth one down if you search for "EDS" in groups, I think. |

The Ice Elements Message Board has a swap forum (not just for IE products).

I just started swapping on MUA after this thread started. It's a little overwhelming! I am making my first swap though-- I'm swapping DDF Pumice Acne Scrub for Obagi Suncreen SPF 35. Pretty good deal! |

I dont' know if swapping is good idea since most products can only last six months after opening... so, I just used on my body |

I do the same if it's something that I really didn't like for my face I generally end up using it on body.
Personally I wouldn't think it would be very sanitary to have cosmetics or skincare that has been opened used and then passed along to someone else. |

Yeah, I'd be very careful about swaps, and I mostly would want to get rid of hair styling products that haven't worked for me - those tend to be more preservative-laden anyway! There's some discussion of using the EDS group on Facebook for a swap medium, we'll see what happens... |

I cant swap to other products, everytime when I swap I get even more pimples, or become acne skin, so I always change back to my orginal product... |

I have been a devoted memeber to EDS and would love to participate in a swap with EDS members. I do not like MUA for there are alot of teeenage girls with covergirl makeup (not that there is anythign wrong with that) that I would not swap my lancome for.
I am very interested and can create a quick simple sister site for EDS Members to go to and swap.
Who would I talk to about making sure that this is okay?
What do you guys want included in this site?
I have started developing a site, now what should we call it? |

I don't see why it necessarily has to be a "swap".... I know last year an EDS member had a bottle of JB tinted moisturizer that she found out didn't work for her right away and I was able to purchase it for a little discount from her. Instead of trying to find someone that has something we want, it might be beneficial to offer it while it's fresh to someone who really wants it. I feel really bad because I have 2 bottles 100% pure eye cream that gave me some milia but it's been in my bathroom for a few months now. If I had a place to pass it on to someone who likes it, it would have been great. I just can't bear to toss them.
I've been on MUA but I can't figure out how it really works. I am skeptical of the people on there and I feel like I can't swap anything because I have no rating and no reputation (even though I have 100% ratings on ebay and run my own online store). Finding someone who has something I want who's trustworthy who wants something I actually have seems a little like searching for a needle in a haystack. |

I would be the same, I'd rather sell than swap, I've got plenty of products that didn't work for me and are just lying in drawers! Clinique products, lots of avon products. I'd love to sell them at a discounted price as I am currently trying to save for my holiday but have so many products I am desperate to buy and I know that I will not be able to help myself!! Great idea but for people who do want to swap you could always try beautyswapshop online. |

So instead of swapping we would simply sell our products. Well, we have ebay for that! I am not sure how clean that would be though and if it would work!? |

I guess but the thing with ebay is you never know who you are buying off. |

Well, okay, let me set up a website that we can buy and sell our products. I think that there should be necessary information that we need to provide each other about the products that we are "swapping/buying and selling"....ie.
1. When item was purchased
2. How much of the item was used
3. What is the expiration date printed on the bottle?
4. Cost
5. Delivery cost
Is there anything else that you guys can think of? |

Okay, I would really like some input here!
I am building this site, it is going to be small and for us members. It is getting costly and I want to make sure that people will use it! I know that it would be nice to put a little change in my pocket from all the products and gadgets that I don't use rather than just let it sit there, give it away or just throw it away. After my recent move.....it was hard to throw away and give away so many things. I must have spent a small fortune trying the different things to make me beautiful! Or at least...try!
If I build this site, would you use it or not? I would really like to know! |
