I'm sure all will go well Red Head. My cousin in Italy just had the same surgery a few months ago and everything went fine, better than fine actually. I'll have you in my thoughts and I'll be sending you love and light. Please keep us updated. I wish you a speedy recovery and good health for the future! |

I know some woman who had it. Overall, most go through the same type of pain when recovering but please keep in mind that every woman is different and types of pain that you get may be different from your friends.
I think they send you home after two or three days.
I wish you a very speedy recovery! |

Hi Redhead:
I know how you feel there is something about going under an anesthetic and not being in control. I haven't had that particular surgery but my sister did and says it was the best thing she ever did. Best of luck to you and I will be thinking of you.
Take care

Hi Redhead! Hope you will be doing well! We'll all be thinking about you! I had the surgery thru the vagina about 10 years ago and everything went fine. Best thing I ever did - no more periods from hell! No more PMS! No more draggy feeling half the month!
Just take it easy at home. Sometimes you feel so good that you do too much too soon and start bleeding again and have more pain! I did! Get DVDs, Books, CDs to entertain yourself and stock up on plenty of liquids to flush out the anesthesia from your liver. And remember to take some deep breaths every hour or so to open up your lungs again. If you smoke, please quit, you'll heal much faster!
Think of how much better you will be feeling when you finally get it done.
Have someone to look after you and your family if you have kids, pets, husband to take care of. This is your time to recover and you will want to be gentle with yourself! Get a nice pedicure and facial afterwards to pamper yourself. A gentle massage will help your circulation and help with loosening up stiff and sore muscles.
We all want to hear how you're doing, please keep in touch with us thru the board.HTH

Red Head, I agree with everyone here. I had mine when I was 34 (waaaay back in the day), it was the best thing in the world for me and I haven't regretted it for a single minute this past 23 years.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and sending healing thoughts to you.

Hi Red Head!
My mom had full hysterectomy (sp?) when she was . . . hum, my age - 42 yrs. old. This was many, many moons ago (like 28 yrs. ago) and the procedure was much more aggressive back then.
Anyway, the point I am trying to get to is - she did so well after the surgery, and her health turned to be so much better in the years that followed the procedure. So, if you know this is the right procedure for you - don't think about the procedure itself, think about how much better you will feel and be once everything is over and you are fully recovered.
GOOD LUCK! We'll be thinking of you!!
Hugs!!! |

Very helpful, although I was aiming for something a bit more informative.
I'd be on edge too, redhead; the advice in this thread seems to be pretty sound. Take it easy and be a princess. Hope everything works out for you. |

FrevaKZ,
That’s the problem with sitting at a screen staring at the written word with no facial expressions to guide you, especially when the question asked is so short. I mistook your question to mean why would a woman want to have this procedure done. For that I apologize.
Even though a hysterectomy, especially a complete hysterectomy, is less often performed now because there are more and better treatment alternatives, some medical conditions are such that there is still no alternative to removal of at least the uterus. From cancer to severe endometriosis to a ruptured or displaced uterus, the reasons for removal are varied and individual but must be very serious for hysterectomy to even be considered.

My sister suffered with fibroids, endometriosis, and anemia. She was such a beeyotch for years, because of the pain. When she finally had the hysterectomy done, her reaction was "why did I wait so long?"
I'm sure everything will go well, RedHead. I wish you a speedy recovery! |
