I'm not sure which is better for your face, but I looooove my Egyptian cotton sheets. I would assume that they are better for your face than silk because they would absorb any oils/sweat from your face better. Although I don't think silk sheets would hold a wrinkle like cotton does so you may not wake up with wrinkle marks all over your face.  |

Hi Indoob,
This subject was covered maybe a month or so ago. It was suggested that silk or even satin pillow cases might help wrinkles on the face.
Im a cotton lover,but did give it a try. Back to cotton for me.

Thanks for your replies.
I'm not really concerned with wrinkles (yet), I'm concerned with my very sensitive, oily, acne prone skin.
Would a silk pillowcase be better for my type of skin? |

I love pure cotton  . The higher the thread count the more I love my cotton sheets and pillow cases. I have purchased silk and satin pillow cases but quickly went back to cotton. My head feels like it will slip right off the satin....I can't get comfortable.
Indoobidubly, I would recommend a high thread count cotton pillow case over silk/satin for acne prone skin. |

I've tried satin pillow cases, but didn't like them at all. They were too slippery.
I love my high count cotton sheets! |

My dermo recommended satin pillowcases, changed daily, when I was on Accutane. He asserted that the slick fabric would cause less irritation on super-dry skin than cotton. The feel of the satin polyester was pretty gross- hot and slimy. But I didn't get chafed.
I think a high thread count cotton is much more inviting than silk or satin. Very soft without that sleazy 70s vibe. |

I think it's also important to change regularly to keep it clean, especially for acne prone skin. |

| Based upon many years of experience, Silk pillowcases are definitely great; a true beauty secret. CAVEAT: It must be high quality Charmeuse(Shiny)silk; absolutely not satin (it is synthetic! It supplements my beauty regiment at night and allows my cream to stay on my skin; my skin feels wonderful as it glides over the silky surface. I truly have little or no bed head in the AM and have not had a split end in forever, although I treat my hear, bow dry and flat iron it , etc. Best of all, it is a wonderful way to pamper yourself (or your bff!) Silk looks great, feels luxurious and in my experience, it definitely helps keep you looking young and beautiful. My favorite are the beautiful printed charmeuse silk pillowcases at Silk 'N Dreams. I think they have a website.They are luxurious,cool prints, antibacterial, hypoallergenic, eco-friendly and machine washable. |

I like my silk cases and I change mine daily.
What I've heard is that the *protein* in the silk fibers is what is good for the skin! Whatever, but it sure is luxurious to sink into a down pillow covered in silk. The cares of the day just float away!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz |

| I dont know about wrinkles but I heard that silk pillowcases were better for preventing damage to the hair. I have some cheap towels on my pillowcase that I change every week and I noticed that my hair is really roughed on the ends and I have a problem with split ends now. |

Yes, according to the ladies on the Long Hair Care Forum, silk and satin pillowcases are better for hair than cotton pillowcases.
Some people on here prefer cotton pillowcases. I wonder why? Why do you prefer cotton pillowcases over silk ones? |

AnnieR, could you please link to the silk pillowcase that you bought? I'm looking for a good silk pillowcase myself.
I've heard that certain types of silk are better than others. I wonder how much truth there is to that? |

Looking forward to trying it. They had all brands, types and materials but this seemed to be a decent one for the money and reviews.

Sally Beauty Supply sells satin pillow cases for about 7 dollars.
I purchased one a few years back after reading the LongHair Community forum.
I cannot say whether it does or doesn't do any good, I see no harm in using one as prevention to future hair/wrinkle issues. |
