The last couple of times I've been in to get a facial, my facialist recommended me to add on a "light therapy" package to my facials, which includes what I'm assuming is the usual LED blue & red light therapy, but the last couple of times she's also been using what I assume look to be those galvanic/ultrasonic machines (they are metal plates that are rimmed with red LED's). All I can say is after one of those treatments, my skin looks fantastic!
So naturally now I'm lemming one of those devices... and the only 2 I heard of from this forum are the Facemate and the UP5.
I was hoping I could get opinions on either/both of them, and where to buy (though I think I spotted Facemate on ebay, but haven't had any luck tracking down where to buy UP5). Additionally, are there other similar skin care devices (galvanic/ultrasonic) that are recommended (reputable)?
Thanks so much! |

Hi Maiea - I bought a Facemate a couple months
ago and have been using it several times a week. I use it for cleansing and then alternate between the ultrasound and microcurrent. The LED lights are on for all
cycles. Have had much success with plumping of the skin, softening of the skin, and fewer
breakouts. Doesn't get rid of the deeper wrinkles. Bought it on ebay from A Beautiful
YOu. Price was fairly reasonable. If you love
in teh US, you cannot get the UP5.
Good luck - DiPhx |

Great, thank you for the comments!
I'm hoping the instructions for the Facemate are all included in the package! I don't have deep wrinkle worries yet, but I do want firming (I am *just* starting to see slackening of my jawline) and anything that will help prevent breakouts.
Do you use it with a cleanser?
I'm from Canada so I assume I also can't get a hold of UP5. I'm so wanting all these face gadgets. lol... next on the list is one of those LED devices (leaning towards Tanda due to the blue lights, and I do have a little bit of adult acne). |

I'd try the Dermawand. I'm currently dying to get one. Its about $89.00 USD on the website. It does a high frequency and you can adjust the settings. I've read rave review on it, and it works with all your skin care products.
Check out the HSN website for their video.
I've read its also great on minimizing pores and better than zeno on acne clearing (which are my reasons for getting it).
It looks like they are primariily marketing it as a rejuvenation anti-wrinkle device, and frankly the crazy lady who dermawanded only half of her face as a test, really is pretty convincing. I wonder how much the company paid her! At any rate, it looks like the only purchase I'd make for a high frequency machine, based on the high volume of reviews (here, Amazon.com, and HSN shopping network) and the really low cost!
Hope this helps! |

Hi - yeah, I do have a dermawand and have had it for a few years now. I do like it - it works well to give my face a "glow" and to help heal zits faster, but I found the bulb was just to small to use practically for whole face treatments (or I didn't have the patience)...
but now I'm looking for a galvanic or ultrasonic device (the ones with metal plates, usually surrounded by red LED's)... I get the treatment done once every two months by my esthetician, and LOVE how my skin looks afterwards (firm! and just looks so nice and fresh), so was looking for a home version so I could do some maintenance between visits. =D |
