There was a discussion on this forum sometime ago about the best penetrating oils for skin - I've been a long time fan of jojoba and camellia oil and thanks to John C. Hill, I now have another HG oil in my repertoire...
I ordered some organic, expeller pressed macademia nut oil from mountainroseherbs.com and just received it over the weekend. It has a wonderful, nutty smell and is a little heavier than jojoba or camellia, but not quite as heavy as castor or avocado oils. Applied some to my hands and was amazed at how quickly it sunk into my hands. Misted some on my legs while we were at the beach and was amazed by how soft my skin was, and it stayed that way!
I mixed up a new batch of nail/cuticle oil with macademia nut oil, pumpkin oil and a couple drops of rosewood and neem oil. The oils penetrated dry cuticles and hopefully after a couple weeks treatment they'll stay moist and my constant problem with hangnails will be a thing of the past.
Thank you John for your great advice, it's really yummy stuff! |

Glad you like it athena123, and I knew you would. You cannot go wrong with a botanical/natural oil like Macadamia that has a fatty acid profile very similar to that of human skin sebum. Your description on how Macadamia works is exactly what we have found over the years in cosmetic studies. That is exacatly why I use it in my Moisturizing Self Tanning Spray, and that is why it is getting rave reviews as both an excellent tanner and also as an outstanding moisturizer.
Thanks for sharing your observations!

Sounds like this is a good oil to use as moisturizer for my undereye. I'll try and see how it works on me. |

I too got the organic version of this oil (food-grade, thankfully, so it really is certifiable as organic) from Mountain Rose, and I love it. The smell is fab, and I agree that it's nice how much it softens and absorbs. I originally bought it after reading one of John's posts about how the molecular composition of macadamia nut oil makes it very stable and also very good as a skin moisturizer. And I too am in love with the rich smell - but it does sometimes make me hungry, haha. I found that the scent combines quite nicely with essential oil of sandalwood.
To answer the questions about acne-prone skin, I'm super breakout-prone and this stuff doesn't seem to aggravate my skin. NOTHING like castor oil or shea butter, anyway. Hope this helps! |

That is good to hear...I wanted to get Opalis Paris version to use for my hair. I don't think I could put it on my face. |

I don't find it to be quite as magically absorbing on my hair as it is on my skin, just FYI. But it is still quite nice for a deeper hair treatment. |

I was thinking of putting it on the ends of my hair every night since it gets really dry. |

Hi Sats, I have oily skin so I haven't tried it on my face, but I absolutely love it on neck and hands. I haven't tried the one at whole foods so I can't offer a comparison, but chances are they're charging too much for it! You can get 8 oz. from Mountain Rose for only $5.25 USD. |

Hi skincare, I haven't tried it on my hair yet, let us know how it works! I do use camellia and jojoba oils on hair everday, couldn't live without 'em! |
