im finally starting to get desperate. months of nonbudging very visible hyperpigmentation on my face- plus NEW hyperpigmentation are starting to make me a nervous wreck. i cant even cover them up with makeup + concealor!!
here is what has made pretty much no difference in either my acne or scars- or if any, only a very little, ie a waste of my money- and believe me i tried long enough to know!
epidermx II, chyrsalyx
jan marini bioclear cream
neutrogena acne mark fading peel
janson beckett c+c (still trying this out, but so far, absolutely nothing!)
psf oxygen spray
psf pumpkin peel (brightens every part of my face BUT the acne scars... which i think makes them more prominent)
aspirin mask
freshel white c
sekkisei
best bath acne serum
pearl paste from home companies
alpha hydrox 10% gel
dermalogica medibac clearing system
dermalogica daily microfoliant
queen helene mint julep masque

seriously, these things are all over my face. do i need to get them lasered off? ive never had acne scarring like this before so i'm really at a loss as to what to do. should i try obagi? im afraid of wasting my money on yet another product that doesnt work, PLUS one that will make me peel and go through "uglies"
ive been putting off going to the derm until i have insurance again (am freelancing until i get a new fulltime job) since i cant afford going to one + prescriptions without insurance, so the whole thing has been really maddening... sorry if i sound frustrated... but to go from nice, relatively spotless skin to a complete spotty mess in a short time period is pretty nervewracking Sad adding to the fact that i've starting breaking out again when i thought i had that under control!! i never realize how much acne could impact my looks or my self esteem until now Sad

Sorry to hear about all your frustrations.

Have you tried retin-a to keep that acne at bay so you won't continue having them?

Since you're asking if you should try Obagi, I'm guessing you've already done a search and found all those before/after pictures some of our members posted of their own results! But it's true, there will be a period of uglies depending on how tightly you control your usage.

There will be no quick fix. Even if you do laser there will still be a period of healing. I know it's hard, but try to relax and stop worrying about the situation since it probably doesn't help your stess levels and acne problem. Second, change your eating habits if you aren't eating healthily. Finally, I would suggest you try Obagi and commit yourself to it under the care of a derm or knowledgable esthetician.

Good luck!

How long did you use each product? By this I mean do you use it for a week or two, don't see results and then try something new. If you are switching products from products without using it for awhile to produce results, then yes it is most likely the products are not working because you are not giving it enough time.

I do what's called the 90 day test period. I use a product faithfully for 90 days. If by 90 days it does not produce results, then I know it's a no go.

You may have seen this -- but in case you didn't -- there's another thread on here about Meladerm by Civant Skincare.

This is a product for hyperpigmentation.

Anami aya, I'm so sorry to hear about your situation.I suffered for almost 10 years with hormonal acne(didn't know it was hormonal until I found EDS)and terrible hyper-pigmentation that could not be covered with make-up.Just over a year ago I started taking 6,000mg(I started with 2,000mg and increased 1,000mg every week) of MSM supplements.I was taking the MSM for arthritus, but after a few months I noticed that my hyper-pigmentation was less noticable. After about 6 months of taking MSM I could cover the dark patches with make-up.Now the hyper-pigmentation is almost gone completely.About 4 months ago I started using Jan Marini's Bioglycolic Cleanser and Bioclear Lotion.I have not had a single break-out since using these 2 products.I have stopped using all other products(except for eye cream and moisturizer).I am so thrilled with the success I have gotten.I can actually go without make-up.My face looks the best it has looked in 10 years!I don't know if this will work for you,but I did have all the same issues.HTH,Sue

hi there,
one idea is that you might be stripping off too much of your skin by all of the products that you're trying. for ex, it's fairly well known that some of the products on your list may lighten pigmentation but at the same time make your skin more sensitive to damage...so, I would say maybe lay off all of the products? sometimes doing nothing is better than doing a million things
