M confused...........recently i found out im very low on vitamin D..........i know best way to get vitamin d is from the sun!.............i use sunscreen alot, even when im at home.....i dont stay outside for long.......i thought i got my vitamin d requirement from the sun from the times when im outside walking or waiting for bus which would be 5-10mins.......obviosly that isnt the case lol i should actually just go outside and sit in the sun longer than my idea of yep il get my normal requirement from my daily activities walking about without having to sit in the sun........yes i dont acutually sit outside and try to avoid going in the sun cause im worried of skin pigmentation, uneven skin tone and just aging from the sun in general.
Again even though i found out im quite low on the vitamin D i absoutly hate the idea of literally sitting in the sun for 10-15 mins...
so yep m trying to eat more dairy and yogurts etc to get some from the foods.
my question is does putting on sunscreen affect the amount of vitamin d we get from the sun compared to putting on no sunscreen/sunblock? This is just a theory of mine but i thought maybe i did not get my normal amount of vitamin d from the sun just going about my daily activities is cause i had sunscreen on and that affected it. Does this mean you have to be outside in the sun longer if you have SS on to get the same amount of vitamin D to when you dont have SS on....?
any ideas? thnx. i really need to increase my vit d levels or im gona have other bone problems etc which i really dont want !. |

My Naturopathic Doctor told me to take Cod Liver Oil in the colder months to make up for the Vitamin D deficiency. Nordic Naturals and Carlson have very good Cod Liver Oil products. |
