Hi everyone,

I am using retinaldehyde at the moment and my skin is really improving. Would you use a peel or micro-dermabrasion once a week, perhaps on a day that I take a break from the retinaldehyde?

Could you recommend anything from the drugstore?

Thank you for any replies.

I am not really sure what the stuff you are using is, but i use the neutrogena microdermabrasion and it works wonders! I use that 2 a week.

HI smoothskin, I tried a couple kits from the drugstore (Ponds and ROC) and didn't really find them to be too effective. I currently use EpidermxII from Great New Skin [available here on EDS] about 3 times a week and really, really love it. No one can accuse this girl of having dull skin! Laughing

I also do very light chemical peels every week, using PSF Pumpkin Enzyme mask in addition to 20% glycolic acid twice a week. For me at least, the combination of chemical and physical exfoliation has been a key part of reducing breakouts by keeping pores clean within and without.

Good luck,

Athena

Thank you for the replies! I will take a look at your recommendations. Athena123 it is interesting to read that you get better results with a combination of chemical and physical peels. I have been concentrating on chemical peel pads lately, and have not had impressive results, so this rings true to me.

Be careful if you are using a retin product. At home microdermabrasion or enzyme peel might be too much. Some products recommend you stop using the retin a few days before using them for this reason.

My fav "peels" are NCN's 30% pumpkin peel (I have it on right now) and a DIY company's aspirin mask which I alternate for a weekly treatment.

Other than that, it's the Clarisonic for daily light exfoliation...

It works really well for me as well, and I haven't had any problems using my Renova 0.05% at night if I use the micro-derm in the morning.

I use Retin A a couple of times a week, plus LacSal (10% BHA) daily - I have found that using my DermaNew once a week really helps.

However, I don't go overboard with the DermaNew...the first time I used it, I acted like I was refinishing hardwood floors, and it damaged my skin. I still have a half inch x half inch red square on my face a month later. Proceed with caution!!

I'm also an EpidermX II user. I use it twice a day. It has really helped with improving my skin texture and fading my acne scars.

I'll shock you all and admit that after trying all of the products out there my face and neck like sugar. Just plain old sugar twice a day. Shock
