I'm trying to find a men's skincare line for my SO. Lately he's been complaining about dry facial skin and huge pores...
He does use LRP Lipikar Syndet as a body and facial wash and is willing to use Johnson and Johnson's baby lotion as a face cream..but obviously a baby lotion isn't going to really help with pores!
So what does the men in your lives use?
err...any men on the forum, what do you use? |

I'm looking for something for my SO. He gets really dark circles, because he doesn't get enough sleep, he only loves to eat meat and work is stressful. |

My husband refuses to put any "skincare" stuff on his face. When his face gets dry, he reaches for the Cetaphil.
My brother, on the other hand, loves Shiseido's skincare for men. Pricey, but he says it works. |

Wish I could help you out on this one, but my husband uses absolutely NOTHING on his skin. I'm the skincare queen, so I've pushed him to take care of his skin over the years but, no, he'd won't have anything to do with it. Even the freebie available right now, the Decleor after shaving balm, he won't consider using. He said the orange and lavender in it sounds too "girly." |

Kareberry, perhaps you can bring your SO to those department stores and let him sample thru a few items. I guess Biotherm is a nice brand to start with. I have a few guy frds that love their products too. |

My husband's skin actually looks quite good, considering his lack of care. He never gets breakouts, even though his skin is really oily (how is THAT possible, I'd like to know?!) He does have a fair amount of blackheads though. As for wrinkles, I only notice one that has formed on the side of his forehead (a permanent crease from sleeping on his side) - he's 34. Sometimes I have to shake my head at the fact that I spend $$$ on skin care products and am SO dedicated to caring for my skin everyday when my husband, on the other hand, does nothing and his skin looks just as good. Makes you wonder, doesn't it? |

My Husband is simply too lazy to follow a regular skincare routine and he thinks all the skincare products are 'too girly' not for a macho guy like him
I have gotten him to try a few things over the years but he never sticks with it for more than a week or two. His regular skincare his washing with Cetaphil and if I nag enough I can get him to put on sunscreen occasionally. |

This is a really funny post. I say funny only because my BF uses, well nothing. Wait, no I think he has a bar of "dial" soap that if he is really dirty he puts on his face, and sometimes the shampoo runs down his face and he rubs that around. Of course he has glowing beautiful skin! Nice |

My bf loves Decleor aromessences. He has got slightly oily skin with large pores and alternates between Decleor ylang ylang and the one especially for men. He's very fond of the smell. I think that is the main issue for him when choosing skincare products.
That said, in periods he uses soap and water due to the high pricing on Decleor. Also, he splashes on far to much of the precious oil. He is not able to use just a couple of drops, so yes, it gets expensive. We both think his skin is more supple and less clogged when using Decleor.
Every morning he uses Decleor cleansing oil in the shower. So basically, he seems to be loving oils. |

My husband refuses to use skincare as well, he thinks it's 'namby pamby'. I'm trying to persuade him to at least wear sunblock, but so far he will not co-operate! |

And also, guys don't wear makeup to cover anything when they go out... Can't you imagine them not doing anything to their skin and still has nice skin? Now that makes me wonder is it cuz of all the chemicals and unnecessary stuff that we're putting on our face thus stressing it out?... all those rubbing and pulling when we're removing our makeup or putting on makeup or lotions and such? |

My husband uses Lab Series and Anthony Skincare for Men. It took me forever to convince him not to wash his face with liquid hand soap! |

It does make you wonder, doesn't it?
My husband takes 10-15 minutes to get ready (from shower to fully dressed and ready to go) and looks AWESOME! It makes me so jealous. Yeah, I have to admit when I'm done, I look pretty good too, but it takes me an hour and a half!!!!
I don't know if there are fellow fans here, but I watch Survivor and the girls on there look really good without makeup. They don't even have the luxury of washing their face everyday, let alone put on treatment creams and makeup! How is it that they look so beautiful?! I could just imagine myself on that island....all blotchy, dry and miserable! |

Same here! He thinks that he won't be getting any vitamin D and pale skin is very unhealthy. |

It took me SUCH a long time to get my boyfriend to use anything on his skin! He now uses a Murad clarifying cleanser, skin perfecting lotion and oil-free sunblock daily and I will occasionally put a mask on him. My dad is the worst- I actually caught him putting his ralph lauren body lotion on his face!! He said 'aren't all lotions the same?' and it took me forever to get him to use a spf before he went golfing. He now uses whatever cleanser I purchase for my mom (at the moment it's the kiehl's brightening one) and moisturizer w/ spf. (He hated the Kiehl's facial fuel-said it made his face burn...maybe he didn't like the eucalyptus in it?) and so I got him a skoah dewlux face kream (antiaging w/ coenzyme q10) and a oil-free cellex-c SPF 30 to put on top (he likes these two products a lot better because they help to alleviate the dryness and he says his skin feels softer lately) With guys who really just need the basics...getting them to PROTECT their skin is the key. A regular spf is so important because it can help to prevent a lot of premature aging on their skin ...I want to keep my boo looking hot and my dad looking young! For the first few days, it might help to actually apply it FOR them. Good luck ladies! |

CMAYC, I agreed with u that guys take much less time than us girls to get ready and still look good. I'm sick and tired of getting ready in the morning as well as at night.
As for the TV show surviors, many of them perhaps put on simple makeup without u knowing it. It's just a show for everyone to watch so many of the things are not real. It's just all act out, at least that's what I heard. Or I guess those girls are mostly beautiful with or without makeup. Those're natural beauties then. |

Ditto!
Maybe these guys have the right idea, and we're nuts... |

Lol...thanks for the tips!
My SO used to use nothing too but he's only 30 and ever since his career started getting stressful, it really showed on his face! I think maybe it's the recent shock of aging that has him wondering maybe there's a reason his girl gets packages from EDS every other month! Hehe..
He also used to suffer from eczema, so all your husbands and bfs that have healthy skin and don't use anything is probably the norm!!
He has dry skin on his cheeks and it bothers him...I probably won't be able to get him to use a 3-4 step routine, but a serum/oil or a moisturizer might go a long way! I'll see if I can get him to use decleor or biotherm...as for shiseido, I think I'll leave that brand on my own counter. |

I talked my SO into letting me try the aspirin mask on him a while back and now he's hooked on it. So every time I make up a batch for myself, I make a batch for him too. We put it on at night while getting ready to shower before bed. It has done miracles for his skin! I also give him all of my products that I don't like. I've even gotten him using Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 every day. He goes along with it and has even gotten compliments/questions from co-workers about his skin. And he's a big burly macho man (6'1", 250 lbs.) not the least worried about his masculinity. Go figure--I try so hard to improve my complexion, and HE'S the one that has the best skin and gets the compliments! |

SO uses nothing on his skin too and his skin is pretty good... no visible pores, no scars and smooth etc. While I'm throwing in tons of money trying out all these products and stuff to get nice skin. Hmm.. how is that fair?
Ladies, do you think these guys are onto something? Less maintenance = nicer skin!?? I wonder if my skin's too high maintenance now. |

My mother always told me, "less is best"....I think she's onto something..
And here's some food for thought; I seldom see 40 to 60ish men with saggy jowls and jaws...I think I'll start shaving.... ...minus the blade! (All of that exercise and exfoliation is a good thing!) |

Yep I am another one whose husband does hardly anything and has great skin! Lately I have got him using a cleanser and moisturiser though - just very basic stuff because frankly he did try the $$$ skincare for men and the cheaper natural skin care ranges work just as well for him.
Plus - I watched him moisturise his face the other day - it was hilarious! he squeezed it onto his hands - rubbed them together and then kind of rubbed it allover his face in around 5 seconds. I suggested he was moisturising his hands more than his face! lol
I do get him to use sunblock but only from torturing him with comments about skin cancer (being cruel to be kind).
Oh and the fact the men do not wear makeup would make a big difference to their skin! nothing to clog up the pores |
