I have this pretty big splotch of dry skin on my neck. It's near my collar bone. It feels like alligator skin. It's red and dry looking and no matter what moisturizer I put on it it stays dry and scaly. Does anyone know what this is and how I should treat it? TIA |

jom, it does not sound like Roscea. It might be an Eczema. I have a friend that no matter what lotions she put on her dry patches, it still remained dry. She later learned that she has Eczema and she was prescribed about four different lotions/potions with no success. She is now using Eucerin (in the tub), she has tried other Eucerin's with no success. Now she has it under control and no more Eczcema. Curious to see what others say. |

Best thing to do is to get it checked out by a derm. |

Good luck with the derm. They have no idea what skin conditons are. I have been to four now, and they all say I have something else. When I tell them what the other said, they say "oh no, you don't have that, it looks nothing like that". It is a racket. They are all in it to make as much money as they can. We can do open heart surgeries and put man on the man, but we can not clear up a little skin condition. I am NOT buying it. I say, listen to people who have had the same conditons and try their remedies. I find that the people here know more than any derm out there that I have seen. Otherwise I would have clear skin and no more blisters |

I've done some research and now realize that it is probably eczema. I was overdue for my annual checkup so I made an appt. with my primary care MD so I'll ask her about it and she can give me a referral to a derm if I need one. In the meantime I'd be interested in hearing about how people treat their eczema. What's worked, what hasn't. |

I totally agree Havana. I've had many rashes and eczema over the years, and I've received excellent diagnosis and treatment from my dermatologists. (With one glaring exception!)
What a shame Bergquis, that you haven't received decent medical care. |

I have chronic eczema, mostly on my shins. Recently when I started to get a flare I use some Karin Herzog Oxygen Face cream. (on my shins) I've used it twice a day for a couple days and it'd clearing right up. And I have very resistant eczema - it's very difficult to treat. I'm going to order the Herzog 3% Body to use for future flares. |

I think it's eczema. I had it before and my doctor mixed up some lotion thing to put on. Goes away after. |
