There is no white cast, but there is a light brown/bronze tint. It was way too dark for me. This would be a great product if it more or less matches your skintone though. Does it say why it has a low rating?

lol! Just so you know, just saying it has a "low rating on cosmetics database" was a bit misleading! I was confused why it would have a low rating, it seems like a very safe product.

I'm a little lighter than NW20 with MAC concealer. When I had a tan and was NW25, I could get away with using the dermalogica spf 25 product by using only a little and blending well, and it was kind of like a bronzer. Now that I'm lighter, there's no way for me to use it on its own, but I have used it by mixing it with sunscreen that has white cast to make a beige cast that matches my skintone Wink I think this would be a great product if you're darker than NW25, or you could try mixing it.

Ok, I just looked and I still have some of this product left (derm. spf 25) and it's expiring this month so I dumped it into my sunscreen pot. In color, it looks just like the NW20 concealer, maybe a little darker. NW20 is probably too dark for me (I haven't even been using it recently), I'm probably closer to NW15 now.

My guess is that if you're anywhere from NW25 to NW35 this product will be perfect. If you're lighter, you would be better off mixing it with an all physical sunscreen. If you're darker than NW35 maybe you could try mixing it with something that matches your coloring. HTH!

I think this would be a great product for most people who want to use safe physical sunscreen and like the look of using a tinted product all over the face. I belong to the former, but not the latter, I've realized that I actually prefer even a slight white cast to a slight beige cast, I don't want to look like I'm wearing foundation.

If you're looking for a good physical sunscreen to mix with, I'd like to suggest Mexitan sunscreen:

http://www.mexitanproducts.com/

It's inexpensive, especially for the amount you get, but not as elegant as I'd like. Overall it's a good product I think.

I MUCH prefer the oil free matte block: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/dermalogica-oil-free-matt-p_7216.htm

It's excellent.

Simran,

Today I used my sunscreen mixture (with dermalogica spf 25 mixed in) and it was really nice. Before that sunscreen gave me a white cast but now it just looks like a sheer tinted moisturizer, I'm amazed at the result. I didn't expect to like it so much since like I said I don't like tinted stuff...

I checked the ingredients, and both this one and the oil-free one contain methylparaben. Does this matter? Confused

That's a preservative, to keep it fresh. It's a really small amount of it, it's not going to do anything to you. Other people may disagree (and it's your choice to make if you want to stay away from preservatives) but I feel better knowing that the product is formulated to stay fresh for a while.

you can try using the oil free SPF 20, the SPF protection is lower, but the texture is really smooth and lightweight for my skin.

I think people are getting too worked up about parabens. They are not as evil as the natural skin care industry would make them out to be. They are in small concentrations in most products (at the end of the ingredients list) as a preservative. There's a lot of other more harmful factors in our daily lifestyle.

Does the Mexitan sunscreen sting the eyes if you apply on your face before swimming? Can it be used on face?

Hehehe, that was an old post, way back when I was using Mexitan Razz

Mexitan is a very safe product and it does not sting at all but I don't use it anymore because it has a slight white cast and it's flaky.
