This makes sense to me so I thought I would pass it on to as many people as possible.
Dropping Gas Prices
THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.
This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.
Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May!
It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!
I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer, and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?
We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas.
It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us!
By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.19 for regular unleaded in my town.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.
With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.
The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.
But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.
If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.
If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) .. and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!
If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!
(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am . so trust me on this one.
How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days !!!
I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting together we can make a difference.
If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
Keep it going!!! |

From what I recall Bermuda was paying $11.00 a gallon three years ago. No wonder some many residents ride bikes.
Right now I am paying 3.60 a gallon but heading over $4.00. I live in a resort area. Everything goes up in the summer.
When I got an oil bill for $600.00 in February I learned real quick to turn down the thermostat and wear a bulky sweater. |

Got it: no Exxon, no Mobil!
But don't the smaller stations all buy their gas from the same big distributors anyway??? Somehow I suspect it goes right into Exxon's and Mobil's deep pockets eventually. But I'll definitely shun those Biggies! It's worth a try! |

Exxon/Mobil remind me of Estee Lauder....
Ya'll know what I mean...
Who does 7 Eleven get their gas from?? Anyone know?? I'll go there instead of BP. |

Sad to say, this email has been making the rounds of the internet for at least seven years, according to snopes.com -- a valuable resource to check out urban myths and web hoaxes. It is not a new idea, nor will it work. Sigh.

The UK. Take the price you pay for practically anything in the US and double it. Then you'll have some idea of how much we get ripped off for stuff over here. We seem to be classed as a soft target for companies wanting to make obscene profits. |

Wow majorb, that's awful. I had no idea the UK was so high for everything.
I'll stop whining over my $4.50 spilled milk too.... |

That's why we order so much stuff from the US! (Although we can end up paying approx an additional 40% of the price of imported goods plus shipping because of Customs fees. Our good old government knows how to scr*w us good and proper!)
Mind you, compared to some of the Scandinavian prices, UK ones can seem a bit of a bargain. |

I try to only fill up my gas tank at Costco Gas.
I read an article sent to me by a good friend that you should not fill your tank when it's hot because with the rise in temp, you get less gas due to expansion. So I make an effort to get gas early in the morning (before 7 am) after the gas has a chance to cool down over night.
Same article also suggests that you don't wait till your gas tank is all the way down to empty like I've been doing! It says the best time to fill up is when it's at the half full. I haven't been able to fill at half full but at least now I fill up at 1/4 tank full. I did notice before that my MPG goes down after the gas drops below 1/2 tank.
Anyway it's time to conserve. I try to walk to places more if I can. A mile or two is nothing for me now. I even walked 5 mile round trip to get some small items from a market during my lunch break before. |

From what I've read those two oil companies distribute their oil to most all the outlets in the world. I think BP is a seperate company but Cosco gets their oil form the big oil companies as does 7-Eleven and all the other independent stores. I don't think 7-Eleven has any oil pumps out in the Gulf of Mexico.
What really needs to happen is a completely different source of energy for cars. There is only so much fossel fuel under the ground and only so much polution that the earth can withstand. I'm looking to buy a hybred but even that uses gasoline. Still, it's better than what I'm driving presently. |

My DH was just transferred and has a two hour commute. He has taken my Maxima and I have his truck. We are looking at a Volkswagen Beetle for me. Not bad 40 miles per gallon. |
