Has anybody checked out: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com

This seems to be a comprehensive site which reviews every sunscreen imaginable upon numerous, sortable factors. Surprisingly, two very well rated sunscreens are manufactured by good old Hawaiin Tropic.......Baby faces 50 and Baby Faces 60. They seem to be excellent in terms of protection and safety. Actually, I just purchased the Hawaiin Tropic Baby Faces 50 and it is even oil free! You will be surprised to see that some of the expensive products do not fare very well.

Thanks for this link!!

Badger is no 1, that is amazing! Also that it is easily available and organic.
Also lavera, which is quite easy to get over here...I might be looking into that one, because I do not like the lavender which is added in the Badger.

thanks for the link.........it looks like a few of the products im using is full of harmful ingrediants which i was not aware of.............but just looking through that website it seems most if not all products out there are bad somewhat. ........so confused. i guess i should realy go organic and natural afterall all this skincare stuff is just emptying my pocket but not helping the skin in fact i think over time worse compared to some people who i see are natural and hardly use anything on the skin Exclamation in terms of againg. My mum uses nothing but her skin looks bright and fresh and young for her age.....whereas me even after caring so much and using all this so called products that are meant to bring me benefits my skin looks uneven, dull, and i see wrinkles for my age tht shouldnt be there. lol i think i should really listen to my mom but arrrrrgh i neeed help im a skincare addict. just the thought of stoppping everything makes me think OH NOOOOOOO Shock Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

You can buy products from the official lavera website and I believe it's the same with badger.

Interesting. My sunscreen didn't do well on the site. There were a lot of other choices. Guess it's time to clean out the makeup drawer.

hey but one thing to note that all the products that are up on the list in terms of being "safe" may not exactly be as im reading some reviews on the site and it seems some products that have been said to be safe on the site are not exactly as the users have found other ingrediants in the product that are unsafe so i think dont literally take the so called "Safe" products on the website for granted and do further research in terms of ingrediants in the product to know for sure Exclamation

I'm thrilled to see Jane Iredale products scored as very safe (most are 1s and 2s). While the Amazing Base is not listed under the category of sunscreens (I guess they consider it just a foundation), it does have an SPF of 20 and scores high as a good sunscreen.

Hi simran, you can purchase Badger from their website http://www.badgerbalm.com/c-6-suncare.aspx

To be honest, though, I absolutely can't stand this stuff; there's no way I can use it on my face and I'm having a hard time using it on the rest of me. It's thick, heavy and the white film never, ever goes away. I'll use it up eventually but certainly won't repurchase. For body, I've really had good luck with Blue Lizard. It offers full spectrum uva/uvb protection, mineral based, non greasy and it eventually sinks in. I can also but this on my nephews and it doesn't cause any sensitivity issues for them either.

HTH!

hmmm ok this makes it hard then lol if you look for something safe from the list it doesnt seem to absorb in well and leave that yuck white cast and if you go with what you have that goes in just right it is listed as quite unsafe on the list Exclamation

I have been using Lavera SPF 25 (for the face) for the last week and I love it. It doesn't seem too thick but not as thin as $10 brands (ie coppertone). It does seem to have a white cast when you first start rubbing it in but disappears with a few more strokes. I mixed it with a little cocoa butter and tried it on my legs and arms and it spread really well.
PS I have sensitive, dry/combination skin and break out easily. It leaves your face looking "dewy"

I tried Badger, it really wasn't that good. It's really waxy and clumpy, I can only use it my mixing it with moisturizer and pounding out the clumps.

I had the same experience with the Badger balm sunscreen! It feels like it's mostly beeswax! It's also way too clumpy.

I've tried a bunch of physical sunscreens and I think that the best is the Devita one. The Epicuren Zinc one is good too, but Devita's the best.

Thank you for sharing.
I really want to find a good light suncreen can prevent both UVB and UVA.

I agree about the Devita. It's positively lovely (I look forward to putting it on everyday!)

I little off topic but I was SO sad that my beloved Kiss Me mascara rated so terribly. Shock Now I'm torn.....possible mascara-caused disease or killer lashes? Hmmm.........

It's unbelievably lovely! I'm also getting really great deal, since I bought the one for the body, which comes in a 6 oz bottle and retails for 30$. It's so awesome!

About the mascara:

I really wouldn't put that much stock into that website's conclusions. They're not totally scientific and I think just want to scare people.
