Have you ever noticed wrestler's ears? They are very thick, and the ear holes are very tiny. I heard their ears get that way because they get pulled by the opponents while wrestling.
So it seems human skin (or maybe just the ears) respond to pulling, and it makes itself thicker.
Can the same technique be applied to other parts of the body where you want to thicken your skin? Should I pull on my face if I want to the skin to thicken and collagen to build up?
Penny for your thoughts! |

Great question, ruk1.
This topic is relevant for dermarolling, as well. You pin-prick your skin and make small injuries in order to signal the body to repair by producing elastin and collagen.
Mike Tyson probably had powerful jaws as he was able to bite off a bit of a wrestler's ear during a wrestling-match some years ago.
As a side-note, I found this article on Timesonline.co.uk yesterday. A professor told that it has been surprising in recent work, that adult skin retains significant regenerative/tissue remodeling capacity.

It's called "cauliflower ear" and you get it from being punched or pulled enough times to deform the ear cartilage.
Oh, and Mike was a boxer |

Of course he was!
They still hit each other, though... |

Human growth hormone, used by countless athletes, will cause bone and cartilage to grow, as well as muscle. |

That is definitely a point that should not be overlooked. If HGH causes ears to grow thick, it's another argument to avoid it for cosmetic purposes. |
