I am of east indian descent (on the fairer side) but do have a year round tan color - I was wondering if anyone has any experience using a sunscreen that does not cause breakouts or irritation and does not leave a white film on my tan skin? I would also love if I do not need an industrial strength cleanser to get it off
Thank you!! |

Hi Sweetp...I am of Indian origin too and use La Roche-Posay Anthelios Fluide Extreme SPF 50+, it is a very light liquid which goes on easily, once absorbed does not leave a white film. It has a very high PPD of 28. HTH! |

Theres lots of tinted spfs "out there" which is a good option. Just avoid the sunblocks that have the ingredient titanium dioxide in it which is what leaves the whitish cast to skin. Good luck! |

thanks guys!! Nikita, I was just wondering what you use to wash it off and if it is hard to remove? Also, how long have you been using it and are you prone to breaking out at all? I have very sensitive skin and would love if this did not irritate my skin. |

2nd that Nikita! AntheliosXL Fluide Extreme 50 works for me too w/o leaving a whitish cast. I have to remove it with an oil cleanser, just like any other SS, and then follow with a soap cleanser. No breakouts so far!

I use spectro jel to wash my face - if that will not work to remove it what is a good oil that would? Jojoba oil? Almond or rosehip maybe? |

If you don't like the whiteish finish, then chemical sunscreen would be your saft bet. Other than La Roche-Posay the people have mentioned, you can also consider Neutrogena suncare with helioplex. |

Yes LRP is a chemical sunscreen. I did think it was the reason why I had been subject to some break outs but I have now firmly established that the spots were due to the CE Ferulic I started using at the same time. However I have dry/combo skin and therefore am not usually prone to breakouts. The fluide extreme is designed for oily skin types so you should be ok, but some others on the forum have found it too greasy for thier skin.
I use a basic decleor cream cleanser and it comes off with out any problem. |

the best sunscreen that doesnt leave a cast is an australian one form Mecca Cosmetica. it is 30+ SPF and includes pomegranite as an antioxidant. if you dont live in Oz it may have to be brought from the net. |

Here's a vote for Devita's Solar Protection Creme 30. |

I agree - Devita solar protection cream 30 is great! Before I used this product, I didn't wear a sunscreen daily, because all of the different ones I tried (juice beauty, PSF, avene, etc) made me break out and left a heavy feeling film. Devita is so light I wear it religously every day, no white film, no breakouts! |

This is the one I use as well. It goes beautifully on and once it has been absorbed it leaves a matte finish.
I have also tried Clarins, both SPF 15 and 30. They both leave a shiny film on the skin and the SPF 30 is too "thick" and I find it difficult to distribute evenly. And if I massage it in too much it peels off like dead skin cells so I can't recommend it to you. But I had this problem only with the SPF 30 and not the SPF 15.
I hope you find a good suncream for your skin |

I threw away the outer packaging, but this is the ingredients I found on the tube:
The Active Ingredients are:
Octocrylene 5% w/w, Phenyl-benzimidazole sufonic acid 2% w/w, Oxylbenzone 1,5% w/w, Butyl methoxydibenzol-methane 1% w/w
And the Preservatives:
Methyl hydroxybenzoate, propyl hydroxybenzoate.
It also says it contains hyaluronic acid, pomegranate extract and vitamin E.
I have porcelain skin that is sensitive, dry, thin and fair.
Hope this helps! |

You could try PSF's sunscreen, the factor 30 at least does not leave a whitish film. I have not tried factor 50, am just researching it on the forum now. |

I also have sensitive skin and have never worn sunscreen because it always caused breakouts. But after asking for recommendations here, I started using NIA24 sunscreen a couple weeks ago and I love it. It doesn't leave any white cast. I let it absorb about 5-10 mins until I apply my make-up. It also removes very easily. |

If you can find it, "La Roche Posay Uvidea XL Fluide Extreme with SPF 50, PPD 11, PA+++, fragrance free, non greasy effect" is fantastic.
It's a fluid texture that makes application a breeze. It does cause a slight shine. On my dehydrated skin, it makes me look glowy. On my gf's oily skin, she uses loose powder after applying the sun block and it gives her a glowy look.
It's easily available in Asia. I did CP for some friends in the USA, so I'm assuming USA does not carry the Uvidea range. |

Living in South Florida, I use lots of sunscreen on the days I'm walking on the beach, or out and about.
For those of you who are looking for cheaper alternatives that work well, I recommend the following that can be found in every store for $9 or $10 bucks.
Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF15
Lightweight, and sinks right in with no film. Also fragrance free + non-comedogenic.
Active ingredients:
Avobenzone 3%
Octocrylene 10%
Aveeno Continuous Protection Face SPF30
This one is a little heavier, very moisturizing, and sinks in totally in about 10 minutes. It's oil free, water resistant + contains soy, + vitamins A, C + E.
Active ingredients:
Avobenzone 3%
Homosalate 10%
Octisalate 5%
Octocrylene 2.4%
Oxybenzone 5%
Just an FYI, when using any suncreen with Avobenzone, be sure it's completely absorbed (30 minutes) before applying MMU or your SPF will be negated by the MMU.

Dewydefense is all time hands down. The jar is nothing fancy, but you apply it and it looks like you've put a natural foundation on that matches your own skin tone. It's spf 30. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! |

I am going to amend my previous post and vote for KEYS Solar Rx Spf 30. Much easier to remove! Leaves a softer finish I think too, less shiny. I think it gives my liquid makeup a better base to "grab onto" and makeup seems to last longer than with Anthelios XL Fluide Extreme.
It's gotten a lot of rave reviews on EDS, so I had to try it. It definitely lives up to its expectations! |
