Hi everybody!
I'd like to get some advice about concealing a few brown spots on my cheeks and close to the eye corner.
FYI, my skin is oily, reactive, and have some broken caps
My skin tone is between yellow and light brown ( , don't really know how to describe this exactly, may be like... café au lait... )
I tried a few concealers (those with beige yellowish color) in the market but they just didn't work at all (waste $$$,)
Went to Sephora the other day, one suggested me the pricey Giorgio Armani (peachy orange color).
Before I invest in another concealer, I'd like to hear your recommendations.
Thanks a lot!
Nice day |

another vote for Laura Mercier (Secret Camouflage). Not cheap stuff, but it lasts FOREVER! Compact has two colors that you can mix together to get the right tone, one peach and the other more yellow. Heavily pigmented, meaning it's a very dense product and stays on well. |

I also use the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage and it's the best concealer for minimizing little spots. (Not so good for around the eyes since it's rather dry in texture). It's very densely pigmented and has a great, heavy, sticky texture. That doesn't sound too appealing, but if you're only using this to mask little spots and discolorations, then you'll only be using a tiny, tiny dab, well-blended. Plus, you don't want anything too creamy or sheer because it won't have staying power.
There's a bit of a learning curve involved. You'll need a really fine, slightly pointed concealer brush (Laura Mercier sells one but I've found that the Japonesque taklon lip brush is pretty much the same thing and much cheaper) and some loose powder to set the concealer. You should check out the reviews for this on makeupalley.com if you're interested.
It's expensive but the compact is huge and you get two colors so you don't need another shade if you get a little tanner or paler. I've had mine for over a year and have only made a very small dip in both pans with daily use. |

I just started using the Smashbox concealer...I don't have Asian skin so I'm not sure about a color match for you. But I do breakout and need to cover post-breakout marks and this concealer seems to provide great coverage for me without caking..... |

Try Too Faced concealer. It's great. |

ruk1, is this meant to be for the eyelids or undereyes? Does it help eyeshadow stay in place? |

ANother vote for Laura Mercier secret camouflage. It was the only thing I could find to cover the temporary dark spots I got from IPL. |

I think it's meant for around the eye area, but I used it to touch up all over the face, and it looked good. |

Bobbi Brown is the best for me.
I tried Cle de Peau, Laura Mercier, but they were not as good as BB. |

Thank you everyone for your replies
Among the suggestions, Laura Mercier sounds really appealing to me for its good coverage on hyperpigmentation.
Just a few questions before trying:
1. Does the dry texture of LM concealer give cakey effect after a few hours?
2. Margot, Nijey, Evenet - could you please tell me which color pack you're using?
Thanks! |
