Doctors who see patients with an unexplained rash on their ears and cheeks should be on alert for a skin allergy caused by too much mobile phone use, the British Association of Dermatologists stated.
The group refers to published studies stating that a red or itchy rash, known as "mobile phone dermatitis" affects people who develop allergic reactions to the nickel surface on mobile phones after spending long periods of time on the device.
"It is worth doctors bearing this condition in mind if they see a patient with a rash on the cheek or ear that cannot otherwise be explained", the group said.

OMG this explains alot for me! I do have an allergy and can't even wear any kind of earrings. But my ears/earring holes are almost always inflamed and I could not figure out why. Well I use a cell phone all day for work. The inflammation is mostly on my left ear which is where I hold my phone. I do have an ear piece but its uncomfortable, I think I will try using it again.
Thanks so much for posting this. |

GirlieGirl, have you tried wearing gold earrings? My earring holes get inflamed from every metal but gold |

LOL... sounds like a good excuse for a Gold Phone...
Or you know... GET OFF! Your pocket book will thank you!
I wonder if it's just metal? Or if people need to clean their phones a bit more often... |

I have no choice but to use mine. I clean mine a couple times a week. I know sometimes people do get breakouts from not cleaning their cell phone. The nickle allergy is an interesting point though. |

I have used alchol wipe out of dirtiness of my mobile phone. The cotton is very dirty. I think it can cause acne on my face. |
