Just a couple of questions:
- Which do you prefer/is better -- aluminum or stainless steel?
- What brands do you recommend?
- I've heard Sigg bottles are pretty good, but do they dent easily?
Thanks |

I'm using Rubbermaid. It's a plastic bottle numbere 5. I only put warm or cold water in so it's alright. And if the plastic bottle is labeled 5 at the bottom, then it's not carcinogenic. |

Plastic bottles are carcinogenic? I thought the plastic issue was when you put very hot foods or liquids into it, or use it in the microwave.
I just use plastic bottles all the time. I thought that aluminum was supposed to be linked to alzheimer's .. or has that been disproven? |

I oersonally love my stainless steel bottle from Laptop Lunches- I ordered it from Gaiam- but they have their own website too.
I love that the upper portion, which is plastic, unscrews to make cleaning very easy. It has a screw off lid also at the neck of the bottle- the lid is held on by a chord so you don't loose it.
The only downside- it does not fit in my vehicle cupholders, but since I mainly use it at home this is not really a problem, more an inconvenience when traveling. |

The Siggs are nice. I haven't noticed them denting but then again, I don't really throw them around too much. |

Where did you get that information? I am very interested. I was told that only #1 and #2 are OK.
TIA |

This is a helpful link that discusses water bottles safe to reuse:
http://trusted.md/blog/vreni_gurd/2007/03/29/plastic_water_bottles
and here is a paragraph from that website that really clarifies:
"To be certain that you are choosing a bottle that does not leach, check the recycling symbol on your bottle. If it is a #2 HDPE (high density polyethylene), or a #4 LDPE (low density polyethylene), or a #5 PP (polypropylene), your bottle is fine. The type of plastic bottle in which water is usually sold is usually a #1, and is only recommended for one time use. Do not refill it. Better to use a reusable water bottle, and fill it with your own filtered water from home and keep these single-use bottles out of the landfill." |

I got my info from the news. I live in Vancouver and it was on the news a few months ago. They say that certain plastic bottles are carcinogenic. The govn't has to take all those bottles off the shelves from the market for selling.
Those very popular 1L plastic colored bottles sold earlier for $10 are said to cause cancer if used in the long run. I'm not sure if u guys know which one I'm talking about. I forgot the brand. The chemicals from the plastic will leak into the water that we drink and is said to be harmful to our body.
Also, don't put plastic bottles in the heated car as the sun outside will heat up the car and also the bottle causing the materials from the plastic to again leak into the water that we drink. |

I have 2 Sigg bottles and like and use them constantly. They do dent, but only if you really bang them around. |

I guess without a # sounds scary. Dollar store is again dollar store. U get what u paid for. So I strongly suggest that you get one that has a # underneath. Your health is much more important than saving a few bucks! |

I recently bought a SIGG bottle and I am really pleased with it. It was a nice surprise not to have a metallic taste to my water that I keep in there for days. |

The ones to look out for are made with #7 plastic that contains BPA (loooong word). The recall was a few months ago. Many of the bottles sold that were questionable was coloured plastic and sold in Canadian Tire. (I had lots of these and no longer use them.)
I reuse Gatorade bottles. These are #2 and a bit harder and can be washed in the dishwasher.
I have a stainless steel bottle that I got from work and like it. I will eventually buy more stainless steel ones. |

How long would you say you could use a Gatorade bottle? They do deteriorate at some point -right??
You think I could use this dollar store bottle for a few days/weeks - or just get rid of it now???
THANKS |
